Do you store things in your oven ?

DS put the oven on ( yet again !!)
without opening and checking/taking out the trays that were in there.

He is blaming me for the fact that I had put the big wooden pizza board in there (rubbish storage in my place !)

Untill last year I have always had gas oven...so ,,,I would never put gas oven on unless I checked it had ignited..hence see said baking trays and take them out .

Curious what others do now !

Baking trays yes. Wooden stuff, er no.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 18/06/2022 16:39

Nope, nothing in there.

nocoolnamesleft · 18/06/2022 16:39

Baking trays and roasting tins, yes. Anything flammable, no.

JudgeRindersMinder · 18/06/2022 16:40

I used to but metal only, for the reason you’ve found out

BananaBreak · 18/06/2022 16:40

No.

blebbleb · 18/06/2022 16:41

Just baking trays and tins. Anything else is a bit dangerous.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/06/2022 16:41

I have one oversized baking tray, occasional, when I can't be arsed putting it back in it's porper place. I would never store anything flammable in the oven. That's asking for disaster.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/06/2022 16:41

*occasionally

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 18/06/2022 16:42

Well yes because I never use it. I cook everything on the hob.

FourTeaFallOut · 18/06/2022 16:42

As above, trays stay in the oven and I'll only remove them when things are cooking if I need to make more space. I've never left anything else in there though.

BooksAndHooks · 18/06/2022 16:43

Only baking trays.

JuneyJune · 18/06/2022 16:43

Metal baking trays etc yes. Nothing else though for exactly that reason.

PashunFroot · 18/06/2022 16:44

No that would annoy the hell out of me.

FayCarew · 18/06/2022 16:44

Baking trays. It's a gas oven.

I have to tell visitors not to treat the hob as a dumping ground. Why on earth would you visit someone's house and place your bag on the hob?

SheWoreYellow · 18/06/2022 16:45

Nope. Only a dirty tray that I forgot about (tend to put stuff back in after dishing up so the dogs don’t get at them).

IcedMatcha · 18/06/2022 16:46

I don’t, but growing up my Mum had one of those big double ovens with 4 different compartments and she stored all the trays in the bottom right. We didn’t have to take them out when using the other compartments though as it was all metal.

Purplecatshopaholic · 18/06/2022 16:46

Baking trays mainly. I do tend to keep an oven glove in there but it’s a bit charred now as we keep forgetting about it! Maybe I should move it….

As above. Then it doesn’t matter if you need to take a hot tray out when the oven’s already heated.

emmathedilemma · 18/06/2022 16:48

No, never!

Oh yeah, sometimes this too, though, for the same reason e.g. a few leftover chips on a tray away from the animals in case anyone wants extra might get forgotten about and re-cooked!

PritiPatelsMaker · 18/06/2022 16:51

Baking trays and roasting tins only. Our kitchen is tiny with very little storage but it's simply never occurred to me to put flammable things in there.

bizzey · 18/06/2022 16:55

But do you heat your oven up with ALL the trays in there ?

OP posts:
Rainbowshit · 18/06/2022 16:57

Occasionally roasting tins but never anything that could be ruined by it being turned on.

Apart from the time the pavlova was still in after cooking the night before and someone turned on the oven. 🙈🙈

No. I have a double oven so I use one to store baking trays - nothing flammable - and cook with the other.
If I do use the other one I take out the baking trays first. I feel the oven would work less efficiently with all the other crap in there.

That is so grim, I hate people putting their bags on my table as well.
Imagine where the bottom of your bag has been! 🤢
