Heavily pregnant and have lost all inspiration for meal planning.

What are you having for dinner this evening? ☀️

Out of the house from 6:30am to 7:30pm today so it'll be fishless fingers and oven chips tonight.

Was supposed to be leftover curry from yesterday but the gannets scoffed the lot.

Kids having burgers and strips of peppers/cuke/carrot/cherry toms instead of chips, with olive oil and salt to dip (they seem to have chips daily at school so they're not being deprived)

DH and I are having sautéed kale/beet tops/spinach and italian sausage with garlic, chili and fennel, mopped up with a bit of garlic bread. It's the best way I know of to turn half a kilo of dark leafy greens into dinner!

DP and I just had some M&S Sicilian lemon icecream - I had to call in to our local food hall branch to collect something, on the way home from an exercise class we'd both done, spotted it and remembered how good it was. Not disappointed!

Bombay potato tray bake with chapati, rice and raita. Carb fest and I can’t wait.

Bbq pulled pork baps with salad and coleslaw - made with last nights leftover roast pork. It’s been in the slow cooker since 10am, and I am excited about it!!

@Ringmaster27, this is an incredibly stupid question but I don’t have a slow cooker! How do you cook pulled pork in it please? It’s the only meal all my kids eat but is a winter meal in this house as I do it in the Aga.

Ringmaster27 · 15/06/2022 18:31

@Nametoname so yesterday, I put the whole joint in the slow cooker (on high) with a glug of apple juice for a few hours, then roasted it as normal in a really hot oven to finish.
This morning (around 10am), I put the leftover meat (still in big chunks that hadn’t been carved last night) in the slow cooker with a chopped raw onion, red pepper and practically drowned it in bbq sauce and a squidge of maple syrup. Put it on low and left it. After a few hours, went back and started to pull it apart with two forks. Left it again, and periodically went back to pull it apart again until it was basically melting 🤤
DCs wolfed it down like a pack of ravenous bears about an hour ago!

Dd1 had jambalaya, the other 3 kids are having chicken goujons, chips and salad. DP and I will have cheese and biscuits later - bought some fancy cheese from the farmer's market at the weekend😋

Love this website!

DH has done a sausage casserole and baked potatoes. Feels very hot and heavy but after a few light salady days, I’m ravenous.

brownbeauty80 · 15/06/2022 19:22

Masala dhosa for us tonight....
had chickpea curry this afternoon...

Nametoname · 15/06/2022 19:30

@Ringmaster27 thank you, it sounds fantastic and easy too. I think a slow cooker might be on the cards!

Popsicle33 · 15/06/2022 19:41

@Yodaisawally I'm pissing myself imaging you cooking with sunglasses on!

I've just had burrata, vine tomatoes and basil with crunchy salt, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Wonderful 🍅

ThreeRingCircus · 15/06/2022 19:41

I can never be bothered when it's this hot, I just want something simple and easy.

Today it was oven baked gnocchi. Shop bought gnocchi mixed with jar of sauce, frozen chopped onion and frozen peas then whacked in the oven and baked....cheese melted on top near the end. Basically all store cupboard ingredients but did the job and was very nice!

Yesterday was my go to hot day dinner of quiche, buttered new potatoes and coleslaw.

CandyLeBonBon · 15/06/2022 19:42

Home made Meatballs in tomato sauce with wilted spinach, crushed lemon butterbeans, tenderstem broccoli, (and pasta/air fryer potato wedges for the kids)

youwouldthink · 15/06/2022 19:43

Just me home tonight. Bacon sandwich on sourdough bread with brie, rocket and Ballymaloe relish. Yum!

feliznavidad2 · 15/06/2022 19:43

We had this: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/halloumi-carrot-orange-salad

It was alright, not sure I'd have it again though, felt I should eat something fairly nutritious after McD's for lunch... 🤫

Sausage egg and chips with peas and broccoli (looks healthier with green stuff on the plate)

chuzzlewitchewit · 15/06/2022 20:11

I'd give my eye teeth to just cook for me sometimes! That sounds lush!! Smile

Ringmaster27 · 15/06/2022 20:41

@Nametoname do it!! You can pick up decent sized ones for really cheap! Mine is a 3 litre one, pretty sure it came from Asda and was about £15!
I’ve had it about 5 years and it’s going strong!

tobee · 15/06/2022 20:44
