I would have hated sitting next to that man too, it's more the smell of alcohol on someone's breath that would sickened me than the smell of fags, I don't know if I would have been able to stay sitting next to someone who stinks like that.

OP sounds annoying AF. The “dodgy” people sat next to them are probably posting a parallel thread on another site about the obnoxious family next to them who keep moving seats, staring, going on their phone, wear smelly perfume and are generally looking down their nose at everyone. They hope you leave as well.
