So they took it to a neighbour!!!! At 7.00 am. I don’t wake up until about 7.45am. How was l supposed to read the text.?

Ive had to take chocolates to neighbour. Is this normal for DPD?🤪

What time was the delivery scheduled for?!

MarmiteOnToast · 09/06/2022 18:16

Yes all day is from 7am normally

Pandorapitstop · 09/06/2022 18:36

Yes, it's normal.

BlancmanegeBunny · 09/06/2022 18:43

Were you expecting a delivery?

Mellowyellow222 · 09/06/2022 18:53

Are you complains that your 7am delivery came at 7am?

I don’t follow😂

HelloNorthernStar · 09/06/2022 18:59

delivery drivers can’t win can they. People complain when they don’t come and people complain when come when they say they will come. Maybe go to a shop and collect it yourself.

carefullycourageous · 09/06/2022 19:02

YABU as they did what they said they would do. I would have left my phone on if waitingf or a delivery that could come at 7am.

SantiMakesMeLaugh · 09/06/2022 19:03

I wouldn’t expect a delivery at 7.00am tbh unless it had been specifically planned for 7.00am.

im not out of bed at 7.00am either @ArseInTheCoOpWindow .
and no one in our house would have seen a text sent at 6.30am.

MissNothing1991 · 09/06/2022 19:04

If I was your neighbour I would have refused to take your package. Just because you're too lazy to get up and accept it yourself

None of my DPD emails say they will deliver between 7am and 7pm. I definitely wouldn't expect such an early drop.

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 09/06/2022 19:06

Yes, from 7am is normal, I think. Irritating but normal!

It depends doesn’t it?
How would you know that a delivery could arrive at 7.00am unless it has been specified somewhere before? Telling the customer it will arrive at 7.00am 30mins before isn’t a lot of time and is likely to be missed.

Now IF the OP had agreed to such an early delivery before hand etc… that’s a different issue. But I’ve seen a 7.00am delivery before. Not the least because all the drivers around here seem to start their deliveries around 9.00am AFTER they’ve been to the depot etc… It’s not a normal time for us.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 09/06/2022 19:08

I was expecting a parcel but had no idea on what day it would arrive.

l received the text at 6:40 am telling me it would arrive at 7.00 on the day of the text. I didn’t check my phone until l about 8.30 am. I knew nothing about it until l saw the DPD card on the mat at 8.00 am and was a bit confused as to where it had come from. I think it’s unrealistic to expect people to pick their texts up st that time. Some may be up but lots aren’t. The neighbour was also asleep.

Sorry it was supposed to be
I have NEVER seen a delivery at 7.00am before. That’s including DPD

Smartiepants79 · 09/06/2022 19:12

Did they not knock on your door? Ring the bell?? Did you sleep through this?
Its quite early but as a one off occurrence in your life I’d jus have sworn under my breath and then gone back to bed.
They’re just doing their job.

knickersniff · 09/06/2022 19:12

We've had 7am-to past 9pm it's pretty normal now . Waking up my neighbours I'd be fuming 😡

ElspethBoomingHowsen · 09/06/2022 19:15

I had a skip a few weeks ago. Delivered it late morning and said they’d be in touch in a week to collect it. 6:25 a week later (Saturday morning) a big lorry arrives, two rowdy guys jump out chatting and laughing and bang on my door to collect the skip. I don’t think I was very popular that day…

DuchessofAnkh22 · 09/06/2022 19:16

I was woken up recently by a 06:10 delivery 😖, best part was it was to my office and I had to get down there to receive it..... They had helpfully texted me at around 3am to inform me of the time.

From that I know you don't live on my street as we have deliveries at 7am, not something I find unusual at all

It's done now and you're are warned for the future that things outside your experience are possible 😀

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 09/06/2022 19:22

No, l heard nothing. I would have answered the door. However l was asleep. Curtains still closed in every room. Dh had gone to the gym at 6:30, but he never opens curtains🙄

Text at 3.00am. Who’s going to read that?!

PatAndFrank · 09/06/2022 19:26

Shame on the delivery company for not knowing your sleep schedule - it’s as though they have a number of deliveries a day and someone has to be early - mind boggling

chocopuffs · 09/06/2022 19:28

I think you're being quite dramatic. I don't think 7am on a week day is that ridiculous when it's a one-off and I'm sure the delivery driver had been up for work a lot earlier than that - I guess you were just first on their route.

Rememberallball · 09/06/2022 19:30

To be fair to the OP, I usually get a text the day before a DPD delivery is due to say that they will message on the day, usually ‘by 11.30am’ with a 1 hour delivery window. I wouldn’t have an issue with such an early delivery as I’m usually the only one awake at that time; but I understand not everyone is an early bird!!

I think, if you’re going to be their first deliveries of the day, they should set your delivery window notification the night before.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 09/06/2022 19:35

I've had a few that have been that early. In general I leave for work just before 7 am, so am definitely up! (Tend to get parcels delivered to work as there is always someone there, however early).
