I’d love to know what she threatened him with under her breath 😂

My elder son would have been exactly the same at that age - from finding the fly past too loud to not being able to sit still and grabbing and pushing. He was diagnosed with autism at 12 and his younger brother is polar opposite so it's not necessarily to do with naughtiness or parenting! I think it showed the Prince was very overwhelmed. I bet she wished she could hand him a tablet with Hey Duggee on repeat. It was a big ask for a little one.

SirChenjins · 06/06/2022 15:37

I loved it - it showed a family who are obviously very close to each other, who have lots of laughs together and whose children occasionally muck about and behave less than perfectly. 4 year olds come in all shapes and sizes, and he's obviously at the more lively end of the spectrum. Fantastic!

People enjoy it because it's relatable. Also because so many in their position would have had a nanny there corralling the children, or have not had them participate at all.

I smiled at it because despite it being bad behavior, the child is comfortable touching his mother's face and that tells me she is a very loving, hands on mummy. And to see a glimpse of their relationship - the stern look on her face and his complete impishness is heartwarming to me

FantaLover · 06/06/2022 16:29

I have to say I was a bit surprised when I watched that video as I thought that was very cheeky behaviour! I get that it's a long boring event but even so that was pretty naughty. I definitely don't read it as cutsey typical 4 year old to be expected.

Yes it’s cheeky - many four year olds are cheeky, especially when they have to sit still in one place for hours, listening to something they’re not interested in.

LilythePunk · 06/06/2022 17:51

I’d rather see that than the way Charles was with his parents. He was naughty but he’s a happy, well loved little boy. Not a child being brought up by a nanny who has a distant and formal relationship with his mother.

Madamum18 · 06/06/2022 17:56

Just shows a child being really rude to his mum and her not being able to stop it

Oh come on, he's 4 and she isn't able to just stand up and remove him is she! At least she goes for it. All parents have moments when kids just don't stop so she doesn't deserve such sanctimony!

DoubleGauze · 06/06/2022 18:11

@NervousFlyer2022 I thought the same. His behaviour looked very similar to my autistic son's overwhelmed actions.

If this is the case for Prince Louis I think it would be very positive for them to be open about it.

Ditto. I have 2 with ASD and his behaviours remind me of them.

No I didn't. OK scrap the suit and tie, the rest of it still stands though. And putting a nine year old in a suit and tie is grim too.

No child wore a tie.

I lie. Prince George did. Louis didn’t. But seriously what’s so awful about a suit and tie? It’s school uniform in many places.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/06/2022 18:30

Maybe George likes wearing a tie. I know little boys who love dressing up and looking smart.

Ted27 · 06/06/2022 18:31

It feels a bit of s stretch to start suggesting that Louis has autism.

He is 4, he got overwhelmed a bit, misbehaved a bit, and was dealt with by his mum.
I think many 4 year olds would have the noise and vibration of the fly past overwhelming, Kate herself appeared to say you could feel it in your chest.
And it wasn’t just the flypast - he had been in the carriage for Trooping the Colour, hundreds of thousands of people shouting and waving flags, his granny’s photo everywhere, trussed up in sailor suit. At 4 it must have been been very confusing.

From what I have seen all three of the Cambridges and the Tindalls and Phillips children were all very well behaved.

PS, My son is autistic

He is clearly quite a handful compared to the quiet and compliant older children.

Please don't be so harsh. Yes he was a bit of a handful but....extra late night, too much excitement??? Kids get overtired and overemotional sometimes

SirChenjins · 06/06/2022 18:43

I agree - I don’t like this kind of gratuitous speculation. DS1 would have behaved that way and he doesn’t have autism.

He’s 4, fgs. It was a long day, he was tired and no doubt over-excited. Leave him be.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 06/06/2022 18:47

There's a picture of Lena looking equally as fed up!

Charlotte at the same age stuck her tongue out at people and told the press "You're not coming!".

Its just their ages.

ThreeonaHill · 06/06/2022 18:52

I thought the Tindall girls were very badly behaved when they kept teasing (?) him and making him turn round and no one seemed to be correcting them.

newnamethanks · 06/06/2022 18:57

Poor kids, they must have been bored rigid, hours of sitting still. Should have spent an hour at most then been nannied off.

Vapeyvapevape · 06/06/2022 18:58

If anyone has had a young child that hasn't been naughty or rude or smacked or bitten someone then they've been either very lucky or are fibbing. Kids misbehave and parents teach them how they should behave (mostly without billions of people watching) .

I have been to an annual event [counts quickly] 18 times where the Red Arrows do their thing and the noise is absolutely immense.

The noise is immense.

The child is 4.

The parents parented.

The speculation and disapproval is exceptionally distasteful.

Cervinia · 06/06/2022 19:03

Im pretty sure, that had they been at home, Kate would have grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and sat him on the naughty step. Me too.

i like Kate, and I like what I saw of those kids, that seemed like absolutely Normal siblings, despite their privilege.

Diagnosticdigressions · 06/06/2022 19:05

Jeez people have extraordinary expectations of at 4YO. Cannot imagine why people are diagnosing autism because he got a bit fidgety and cheeky after sitting there for hours and hours.
