I have just come back from an extremely rare night out with work. I got back at just gone 1 am (europe). Dd (10) is asleep by herself. Other than the dog, not another living thing in the house.

Obviously, it was agreed between me and dh that it was okay for me to have a night out. All the local pubs are closed. His phone isn't answering. No replies to my texts. Just a half finished glass of red wine, a book and his reading glasses on the kitchen table to show he was here.

What the fuck?!

OP posts:

Are you serious? You’ve come home from a night out and you’ve got a missing person and a minor left home alone?? Why haven’t you phoned the police ffs!! What’s the backstory here for your reaction to be to post on mumsnet instead of phoning the emergency services?

iamruth · 04/06/2022 00:32

How far away is the nearest open shop?

Missing person or twat gone out thinking he wouldn't get caught?

timeisnotaline · 04/06/2022 00:34

You’ve definitely checked the house- there’s not a sofa or other bed with a lump in it? He’s not in with dd?? Working in the shed or garage on something that just struck him?

worraliberty · 04/06/2022 00:34

Sponge19 · 04/06/2022 00:29

Why are you posting this on mumsnet? How about spending your time phoning family and friends? Or even the police?

This is what I was wondering?

I mean OP said she's just got back, so within minutes of this happening, she's asking the internet about it rather than actually doing something 🤔

icelollycraving · 04/06/2022 00:35

Do you have him on find your phone? Is he car there?

greatblueheron · 04/06/2022 00:35

If you're not calling the police, does he have form?

ladydimitrescu · 04/06/2022 00:35

Erm, call the police?!

lloe7 · 04/06/2022 00:35

Are you certain he's not in the toilet?

bellac11 · 04/06/2022 00:37

I wouldnt have thought the police will do anything, certainly not until someone has been gone for 24 hours

ScottishBeeswax · 04/06/2022 00:38

FuchsAndMöhr · 04/06/2022 00:28

Plot for a new book 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yep, my first thought too

Bunty55 · 04/06/2022 00:38

So your daughter is safe?
Wait for him to come home.

Missing person or twat gone out thinking he wouldn't get caught?

I think the same response for both would be appropriate. If he’s missing and in trouble then he needs the police. If he’s snuck out and left his 10yo alone in the early hours then he needs arresting. I’ve decided this is a troll post as it’s preposterous that the op hasn’t done either 🙄

BerkyWithTheGoodHair · 04/06/2022 00:40

Gone out the back for a ciggie and fallen asleep on the garden bench?

But absolutely yes, even if you didn't want to phone the police, there's a thousand different people I WOULD be phoning before mumsnet sprung to mind!!

JaneJeffer · 04/06/2022 00:41

He probably gone to meet the hotel room husband from last night's episode.

TheLoverOfTea · 04/06/2022 00:41

Has he been found?

LondonWolf · 04/06/2022 00:42

Oh, another mysterious husband disappearance. Did we ever find out what happened to Hotel Husband from this morning?

ScottishBeeswax · 04/06/2022 00:43

Ermmm... that's not a crime? There's no legal age where you can leave a child alone. There are recommendations, there are suggested ages but no legal requirement. Of course if anything bad happens then that changes. Depending on the country/culture it might not even meet the threshold for neglect as SS see it.

vodkaredbullgirl · 04/06/2022 00:44

Check attic, does he have a man cave or you have your wine goggles on🤓

HangingOver · 04/06/2022 00:45

Having a secret fag in the shed?

fatherfintanstack · 04/06/2022 00:45

Is the car there?

vodkaredbullgirl · 04/06/2022 00:45

Still waiting for the other post from last night's episode.

DuckDuckNo · 04/06/2022 00:47

LOL at "why haven't you called the police???!!!11?!!"

What do you think the police will do when you tell them I came home a minute ago and my husband isn't here?
