When was the last time you let yourself get hungry

I don’t mean “could do with something to eat” or eating because it’s the time to eat, I mean proper stomach rumbling/crampy empty stomach hungry.

Asking because I had a conversation with someone today re this and they said they haven’t actually felt physical hunger in years

Lunchtime

AyeUpMeDuck · 03/06/2022 21:36

All the time.

I can't imagine being full of food all the time, I'd end up hugely overweight.

PinkButtercups · 03/06/2022 21:37

Everyday. I am right now. Waiting for my take out 🤣

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 03/06/2022 21:38

Friday. I had no time today eat between 6 am and 7 pm. Work was to busy and I didn't get a break.

thefirstfortyeight · 03/06/2022 21:39

I have my tea at about 7pm and don't eat until my dinner the next day, about 1pm - I'm usually hungry from around eleven in the morning.

SilverGlassHare · 03/06/2022 21:39

I fast regularly. So every other day or so, I don’t eat until 7 or 8pm. By which point I’m starving!

PostMenPatWithACat · 03/06/2022 21:41

Probably the 80s when I had annearing disorder. I was proud of the hunger and thought I could feel the non existent fat melting. I recovered in the 90s. Was a young mum in the 00s and now drink too much wine and eat too much good-looking and can't remember the last time I felt hungry. If I could I might be a size 12.

moiraandthebebe · 03/06/2022 21:42

Most days now. I'm trying to lose weight so recognising the feeling of being actually hungry due to under fuelling and not bored/stressed/dehydrated is necessary for me.

DinosaursEatMan · 03/06/2022 21:43

Lunchtime. I was baking for a party this afternoon and didn’t have time to stop to eat. Made up for it later though!

Absentmindedwoman · 03/06/2022 21:43

I get to a level of 'uncomfortable emptiness' where I'm aware I need food to fuel me, but can't face eating due to stress, quite regularly.

Not actual pains though so not sure that counts? DP can recognise I'm hungry when I don't. Then, once I start eating I'll realise I was actually hungry. And always end up feeling better.

It's strange and frustrating and I had a thread about losing appetite quite recently.

But I'd never let myself go with literally zero food for days or anything, I'd peck at small things here or there, so have never felt hunger pains.

CoffeeDay · 03/06/2022 21:43

Literally every day? Food tastes so much better if you're properly starving. If I'm not starving then I just wait, and will often end up skipping lunch or just eating a small snack mid-afternoon so I can get hungry enough for dinner.

The only time I'd every eat when not physically hungry is out of politeness such as being served a meal at some else's home.

Timeforachange22 · 03/06/2022 21:43

Most days. If I don't have time for breakfast then I'm starving for lunch. Or if there aren't any good snacks in then I'll probably not eat between lunch and 7pm so would normally be very hungry. Idon't eat big portions as I don't like to feel too full so will normally be very hungry before the next meal.

Onionpatch · 03/06/2022 21:44

I wake up hungry everyday. Then i eat breakfast. If its at 7 and quite light i feel hungry again by 11 and have to wait for lunch. If i eat breakfast at 9.15 and its bigger, i dont feel hungry again till 4ish.

Absentmindedwoman · 03/06/2022 21:44

On some days I can't face proper food I can put away a LOT of ice cream mind you Grin

Funny how the brain works.

godmum56 · 03/06/2022 21:45

every morning, every lunchtime

Popsicle33 · 03/06/2022 21:45

Competitive undereating in 1,2,3.......

ofwarren · 03/06/2022 21:45

Every day
I honestly thought everyone did Confused

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 03/06/2022 21:46

Most days before lunch at work. Especially if no one has filled the snack drawer.

this week on annual leave I was hungry yesterday. Probably not so much the rest of the week.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 03/06/2022 21:49

Yesterday I ate nothing until about 5.30pm, I mucked out two horses, rode one and did all my other stable jobs before I ate too.

Only had one meal all day. Today I had a muesli bar at about 2pm, two squares of chocolate at 5pm and didn't eat dinner until about 8pm.

Zpoa · 03/06/2022 21:49

Every day. I eat two meals a day, most days, although today I didn't eat till 3pm, so one meal. I struggle to eat 3 meals a day.

Delilahwasframed · 03/06/2022 21:53

I generally never feel hungry and I’m skinny. I could go for days without really eating anything much or feeling hungry.

RibNSaucyArseCrack · 03/06/2022 21:55

Yesterday, I didn’t eat till 8:30 pm as I was so busy. Usually though I eat 3 meals a day plus snacks. I have an eating disorder though.

TheRoadToRuin · 03/06/2022 21:58

Every day. I never snack during the day because I love my food and enjoy meals more if I'm properly hungry.
Unfortunately once I've had dinner I snack all evening.

ChocAuVin · 03/06/2022 21:58

I routinely let myself get hungry (intermittent fasting). I’d be mahoosive otherwise.

Surely it would be the over-eaters who are generally hungry.
