When was the last time you let yourself get hungry

I don’t mean “could do with something to eat” or eating because it’s the time to eat, I mean proper stomach rumbling/crampy empty stomach hungry.

Asking because I had a conversation with someone today re this and they said they haven’t actually felt physical hunger in years

The last three days. Been out searching for a friends' lost dog and have barely had the time to eat.

More than made up for it today though 🤣

Vargas · 03/06/2022 22:05

Today. I only eat 2 meals a day and I was v hungry from about 12pm until I had lunch at 2pm. Normally I eat my first meal around 1pm and I'm not too hungry. The extra hour was hard!

lljkk · 03/06/2022 22:06

My tummy rumbles easily, I'm famed for it in the household, even when I don't feel at all hungry, so don't think that means anything.

I don't like to eat unless I'm feeling hungry. Food doesn't taste nice if you're not hungry.

PinkSyCo · 03/06/2022 22:06

Today. I only eat once a day, so am really ready for it when I do.

80sMum · 03/06/2022 22:07

I get hungry like that quite frequently. Usually it's when I'm babysitting and don't have time to eat or when I'm busy doing something at home and forget to take time out to eat. It doesn't usually kick in until I've not eaten for at least 8 to 10 hours and I think "why am I so hungry, it's only 6.00pm - oh yes, I forgot to have any lunch!"

tiredanddangerous · 03/06/2022 22:08

Every day.

SallyWD · 03/06/2022 22:08

I do 16/8 and I am very hungry every day by 10am when I break my fast. Its fine though - it makes me appreciate food and I feel good.

Dementedswan · 03/06/2022 22:10

Everyday.. I eat one small meal a day.. a sandwich or similar so may kids eat healthy meals

LissyBooks · 03/06/2022 22:11

Interesting

I didn’t think it was unusual to actually feel properly physically hungry before you eat

Every day at lunch time

i eat breakfast early, and it’s a small bowl of muesli and some fruit. Then walk the dogs for an hour, then to work.

by 12 breakfast was 5 hours ago and I feel properly hungry. If I wait until 1, which I sometimes do as busy, I get a bit shaky 😁

CapYourDoff · 03/06/2022 22:12

16/8 intermittent faster here. It seems to have reset my appetite meter big time. I rarely feel hungry even after 16 hours fast (most is when I'm asleep!), and I don't eat big meals either, so it's three healthy filling snacks to keep me going. I eat to live, not live to eat.

Amazing change as I was a scoffer, and the weight is coming off slowly but surely too. Had bloods done recently for a check up of kidney function and haemoglobin, all ok, they did a full blood count, and doc is reasonably happy apart from one or two things that cannot be helped due to a chronic illness I have.

Camomila · 03/06/2022 22:15

Most days I work from the office...I eat 2 slices of toast around 7/7.30 and I'm hungry by my lunch break at 12.30.

givethatWolfAbanana · 03/06/2022 22:16

I always eat a big proper lunch though, then hungry again by about 6

sometimes I have a 4th meal if I do sport in the evening

always hungry about 4 hrs after last meal

not overweight (yet 😁) though so must be fast metabolism

SoWhyArentYouDead · 03/06/2022 22:21

Every now and then when I’m particularly busy. But the vast majority of the time I eat 3 meals and a couple of snacks each day.

@coffeecupsandfairylights Did you find the dog?

mypinkslippers · 03/06/2022 22:22

Happens to me a lot to be honest. I often don't eat until later in the day because I just don't get around to it. Then I'm so very hungry, I'll have gone 18 hours without eating usually and just realise I'm ravenous and also lightheaded. It's because I make all the food and we don't have snack foods in our home really. I cook all the meals from scratch so you can never just grab anything. I have also become a lot more picky the older I get. It's all my fault and it's not a big deal, in fact I think fasting can have benefits so it's fine, but yes; I will get stomach pain, rumbling, affecting my mental capacity hungry a few times each week.

Before that it was when I was in a bad way financially and went days without food; I remember that feeling, it was awful. That was a long time ago now.

DelilahBucket · 03/06/2022 22:25

Most work days. I am definitely ready for lunch when I go for it and often I push past absolutely ravenous about 5pm depending on what I've had for lunch.
Some mornings I am unbelievably hungry. I don't tend to eat breakfast, but on those days I have to eat a little something.

Anothernameforallthis · 03/06/2022 22:27

I mostly do 16:8 - no eating by 8 pm and lunch time the next day so yes, I am hungry then.

i honestly think people are scared by hunger. It’s quite a primal instinct, even now. So we tend to overreact to it. I’ve learned not to be scared by it.

it’s okay to be hungry.

QueenofDestruction · 03/06/2022 22:28

I think there is something wrong with me I never get hungry but nor do I get full. I fast a lot but believe my in and off switch don't work

KohlaParasaurus · 03/06/2022 22:34

Once a week I delay breakfast and exercise fasted. Not my preference, but the alternative would be a very early start to the day and I like my bed. I wouldn't advise standing between me and my late breakfast on those days. I can't skip meals or forget to eat like lots of people seem to do.

SecondBestBed · 03/06/2022 22:39

I just don’t seem to get hungry. I often just have one meal a day -an evening meal - and I’m not particularly hungry for that. I might have an apple or something at lunchtime, but that’s more because I think I ought to have something. I’m not sure that’s normal though.

SpeedofaSloth · 03/06/2022 22:41

More often lately, I am losing some excess weight. I am now hungry by mealtimes which wasn't always true.

Crocsandshocks · 03/06/2022 22:44

I get hangry rather than hungry these days...

jubileetrain · 03/06/2022 22:47

Never. I'm autistic and it's a real sensory nightmare that affects my ability to function in other areas.

lisavanderpumpscloset · 03/06/2022 22:49

Lunchtime today - didn't have breakfast

Nadal · 03/06/2022 22:50

Every day
