Happy with this today. Thought the first word looked a bit short to be this so tried other things first. Should have trusted myself!

I solved today's Redactle (#66) in 11 guesses with an accuracy of 45.45%. Played at www.redactle.com/

When you say 'looked a bit short' - I don't know if it works in all browsers, but in safari you can literally count exactly how many letters there are in redacted words by selecting the spaces. That's what I do for the title and then other words that look like they'll be helpful to pin down.

(It doesn't work in pedantle, the redactions don't accurately correspond to the word lengths which makes it much harder)

Getting a bit bored now - wish there were more that I could get without Google’s help

Very useful tip - I just go by eye. Although there are other options for that first word based on the number of letters so you’d have to spot other clues to avoid choosing the wrong one/s.

I ended up with google because of the main types of [second target word] it turned out there was one I could not drag up out the recesses of my memory!

I was getting absolutely nowhere and nearly thought it was time to stop this game. But i got there. With Google. I don't think of Google as cheating. I feel I'm learning loads about subjects I really have little knowledge about.

Still bowled over how quick you get every subject Errol

Got the second word relatively quick then had to google after I’d exhausted my very limited knowledge 😂Agree that I’m learning lots from this!

ErrolTheDragon · 11/06/2022 20:02

I'm sure I'll get thrown by something else soon enough, like Samurai where I was clueless for ages and had to use Google.

Enjoyed that one, and for once fitted with one of my o levels (old).

Cooroo · 11/06/2022 20:23

I failed today. Had to Google it. But it was interesting so I've learned something!

VivienneDelacroix · 11/06/2022 20:42

I found this far more difficult than I should have done today.

I only started playing this a few days ago because of this thread.

Have genuinely wanted to launch my phone off a brick wall a few times.

Not today, got the second word quite early on then did have to do a wee Google search 😂😂

WheelofLife · 11/06/2022 21:16

Had the second word in the title at 63. Googled at 114 having exhausted every word I could think of :)

Piss poor accuracy but hit it lucky with second so could work out first from length/what little I had revealed

So the only two words you guessed, both happened to be in the title?

Redcrayons · 12/06/2022 08:01

I solved today's Redactle (#66) in 162 guesses with an accuracy of 32.10%. Played at www.redactle.com/

140 in before I got a keyword and realised what the subject was. Exhausted my knowledge pretty quickly so google helped me out. Wasted a few words with plural/not plural issue. Considering I gave up yesterday after 300 plus words and a lot of googling, it’s a win for me.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/06/2022 08:14

I got an inkling as to the subject, entered the second word as even if it wasn't in the title it'd probably be somewhere in the text if I was right. Thought a bit about what various other words could be but didn't enter them. I don't know that many 11 letter words that would fit with the second one, there are 2 obvious choices if you've done the relevant o-level or gcse and there were some indications towards the correct one.
So yes, I only entered 2 words but I wouldn't say I just 'happened' to like it was random.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 12/06/2022 09:12

Lots of crossover with a redactle from a few days ago but it still took me ages as I was on the wrong track for a while.
