I solved today's Redactle (#65) in 147 guesses with an accuracy of 49.66%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Phew, that was a marathon! Took me ages to get any sort of handle on it, then googling definitely required. Interesting though.

L1ttledrummergirl · 11/06/2022 00:31

I solved today's Redactle (#65) in 33 guesses with an accuracy of 66.67%. Played at www.redactle.com/

That was better than yesterday's.

Fifthtimelucky · 10/06/2022 23:29

I think I'm giving up on today's.

I have known what the general topic is for ages, but I suspect that I have exhausted my knowledge of it.

Might try again in the morning to see if I can dredge up a few more words that might be relevant.

@Fifthtimelucky I am in the exact same boat!

Fifthtimelucky · 11/06/2022 08:20

Well I gave up altogether and looked it up, so it goes down as another failure.

I had never heard of the word so would never have got it. It would need a lot more specialised knowledge of the subject than I (and I imagine most people) have.

weebarra · 11/06/2022 08:23

I solved today's Redactle (#65) in 193 guesses with an accuracy of 50.78%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Obviously a lot of googling there but v interesting!

ErrolTheDragon · 11/06/2022 08:36

I don't see it as a failure if you get to the point where you can find something you've simply never heard of before, especially if it's something not covered by gcse level education or likely come up in other sources of general knowledge (documentaries, the media etc). Most of us have learned something on this one, I think.

Glitterbiscuits · 11/06/2022 09:06

I managed to get one phrase and then put that into Google which gave me the title.
A word I had never heard of.

217 guesses and 47%

Glitterbiscuits · 11/06/2022 09:07

Does anyone read the whole article after solving the word?

InMySpareTime · 11/06/2022 09:10

@Glitterbiscuits I do, but then I also look up the Wikipedia page for Pedantle as it only shows part of the article and I want the whole thing.

I agree. I think googling around a subject to find some of the correct terms is a bit of an art in itself.

I enjoy the whole process of redactle and pedantle much more than semantle and cemantle.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/06/2022 09:43

There's a hell of a difference between googling, for example, "what is the unit of pressure" after working out thats what the answer is, or the spelling of someone's name... to just googling "what is todays Redactle answer".

Whenever this conversation comes up, there are people who claim to never Google, but many see it as a problem solving exercise and look for clues

Glitterbiscuits · 11/06/2022 09:50

I'd have been clueless without Google today but I try to leave it as a last resort.

I'm going to read all the articles from now on. My menopausal brain needs the exercise!

Dreikanter · 11/06/2022 10:50

I solved today's Redactle (#65) in 95 guesses with an accuracy of 54.74%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Like others, once I’d got the theme I had to Google a bit. Not something that I know anything about.

poppym12 · 11/06/2022 11:29

I'm giving up on this one as my knowledge of the specifics is very poor. I cba to keep googling to get the answer.

Had to do a lot of Googling to get there. Hmm

BestIsWest · 11/06/2022 17:20

Again had to Google the first word as had the second early on but don’t know much about this area.

Happy with this today. Thought the first word looked a bit short to be this so tried other things first. Should have trusted myself!

Probably should have got that quicker given my degree Blush

gillybombilly · 11/06/2022 17:50

Gah! 125 guesses at 42.40% - not my finest day.

Redcrayons · 11/06/2022 17:50

What was yesterday’s? I got to about 350 guesses and give up.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/06/2022 17:52

Took me a long time to get any sort of a handle on that. Googled at the end to get the first word which I must have learned a long time ago but forgotten up until now
