Dear lady walking around the lake with your delightful toddlers

You know when there is a bit of a pile on here where someone mentions sexism and everyone else insists their partner would never dream of xyz?

I’d really like to think you’ve had a word with yours!

My dog stopped to relieve himself while on our walk. I would never dream of doing anything other than picking up his waste and I can manage that without an audience.

I’m 5ft and female walking a breed of dog typically thought of as a good family pet. If you or your partner are labouring under the delusion he would have stopped to supervise a man and make sure he was a responsible dog owner, or remark,
”good choice” when I turned out to be so and he missed out on his civilian law enforcement moment, I rather suspect you are mistaken.

NAMALT-but yours is!

Yes this has been bugging me since it happened, yes I probably do need to get a life!

OP posts:

OP can you write out your post again? I can't make head or tails of what your thread is about. First you mention a lady walking around a lake.

Then you talk about your dog.

Then you mention your partner, or is it hers?

Quite a few people, myself included, have explained.

Or did you just want the OP to know you found her post incomprehensible to try to make her feel embarrassed and stupid?

DonnaRhea · 29/05/2022 14:51

I think the whole height thing adds to the complete irrelevance of the post
its a nice touch and I appreciate the detail

BellePeppa · 29/05/2022 14:53

Was he referring to you cleaning up after your dog or your choice of dog breed?

More than the delightfulness of the toddlers and the lake location? Grin

Lindisfarne1 · 29/05/2022 14:56

I'd have told the patronising twat to fuck off out of toddlers earshot of course or flipped him the bird

Mellowyellow222 · 29/05/2022 15:00

I too hate it when men adjust their tone and behaviours for females.

I live alone - have a biggish house and am about to embark on a large extension project. The amount of men who speak to me like either I am not the decision maker or I can only afford the absolute basics in infuriating.

I get repeatedly asked if I own the house on my own - two separate men have actually said good for you and raised an eyebrow!! would they say this to a single bloke in his forties????

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 29/05/2022 15:08

She tried to be witty and spectacularly failed. Also she talks about sexism, but her thread is full of it. So I think she kind of deserves to be ridiculed, imo.

GeidiPrimes · 29/05/2022 15:08

I get you OP. Similar's happened to me. Even been told I should hit my dog to discipline him by a male stranger.

But I agree with PP, his wife's not responsible for correcting his behaviour. I wonder what he's like to live with...

HereIAmBrainTheSizeOfAPlanet · 29/05/2022 15:10

Why do you want a word with the woman? She's not responsible for her twatty DPs behaviour. This is all a bit sexist of you, op.

TalkingCat · 29/05/2022 15:10

No, there is no need to be so nasty and rude, @Springsnow22 . I clicked on See all and read both of OP's posts before I replied. I didn't read the thread, but I did read the OP's posts to check if she clarified. I wasn't trying to embarrass her, I genuinely didn't understand. None of us really know what she meant, you included, if others clarified then they could be wrong too, we don't know, which is why I asked the OP, the only one who can truly explain.

Beaucoup · 29/05/2022 15:12

The OP, I suspect, believes h/she is a gifted and witty writer.

DonnaRhea · 29/05/2022 15:13

I have to be honest, the delightfulness of the toddlers threw me a bit @Sparklingbrook but I like the lakes as a setting
It sets the scene nicely
Grin
It's solid and respectable

Friedaseyebrow · 29/05/2022 13:27

Am I reading it correctly that you are pissed off with a patronising man but are choosing to blame the female partner for not schooling him correctly on sexism?

Yeah, this.

Friedaseyebrow · 29/05/2022 13:27

This. Female partner might be subjected to this nonsense from him herself, every day. “Don’t do that to people, Kevin” is unlikely to make him mend his ways.

Springsnow22 · 29/05/2022 15:17

Absolutely right @TalkingCat , no need to be nasty or rude, is there?

Johnnysgirl · 29/05/2022 15:17

What a load of paranoid nonsense. I imagine he was talking about your actual dog, not commenting on you picking up it's shit.

TalkingCat · 29/05/2022 15:18

Springsnow22 · 29/05/2022 15:17

Absolutely right @TalkingCat , no need to be nasty or rude, is there?

Exactly, so why did you attack me when I asked a genuine question for clarification? Is that no longer allowed on this site? @Springsnow22

liveforsummer · 29/05/2022 15:24

*But it's not relevant because the OP hasn't mentioned the man's height.

There are loads of men around who are the same height as the OP, or just a couple of inches taller.*

Well it's even less likely that a short man would have picked on a woman who was broad and 6'1'' however it's highly unlikely this man was under 5' so we are going to assume he was indeed bigger than her.

ATadConfused · 29/05/2022 15:30

yesthatisdrizzle · 29/05/2022 14:33

I hear you OP.

Probably the same sort of man who says 'well done' to a woman who has achieved the task of parallel-parking her car.

Yep. It's a wonder he's still breathing frankly!

MissMaple82 · 29/05/2022 15:35

An interpreter is needed for this one!

Cryingintherain99 · 29/05/2022 15:35

I agree completely, but if it had been me writing this I would have addressed it to the man himself rather than the woman he was with.
The mood I'm in today I might even have gone as far as to say it to his face there and then!

BeforeGodAndAllTheFish · 29/05/2022 15:35

What's the wife got to do with this?

The only sexism I see here is you.

A man made sure you picked up after your dog, and you're annoyed at the wife? You start a thread aimed at the wife?

Is it her fault? Is it her job to control him? It couldn't possibly be the poor, innocent man. It must be the wife's responsibility so let's start a thread aimed at her and tell her to have a word with him and sort out out. Because it's all her fault.

You're just as misogynistic as the man who decided to watch you. Have a word with yourself.

fUNNYfACE36 · 29/05/2022 15:36

I don't think it was sexist.I can assure you there are a lot of very bossy patronising women out there!

Johnnysgirl · 29/05/2022 15:41

Op was hardly picked on.

PuppyMonkey · 29/05/2022 15:42

Well I reckon it was a golden retriever.
