You know when there is a bit of a pile on here where someone mentions sexism and everyone else insists their partner would never dream of xyz?

I’d really like to think you’ve had a word with yours!

My dog stopped to relieve himself while on our walk. I would never dream of doing anything other than picking up his waste and I can manage that without an audience.

I’m 5ft and female walking a breed of dog typically thought of as a good family pet. If you or your partner are labouring under the delusion he would have stopped to supervise a man and make sure he was a responsible dog owner, or remark,
”good choice” when I turned out to be so and he missed out on his civilian law enforcement moment, I rather suspect you are mistaken.

NAMALT-but yours is!

Yes this has been bugging me since it happened, yes I probably do need to get a life!

maybe he meant good choice as in nice dog?

I was thinking that Planterina. Otherwise he would have said 'good decision'.

I have two dogs, male and female. A few years ago, male cocked his leg followed by female squatting to pee. A VERY officious twat was made to look a fool when he demanded that I pick up the crap my dog left.

Unfortunately, a pee bag has not yet been invented!

'Turned out to be so' what? That's the bit I don't understand?

It's as though you're so intent on trying to be creative writer of the year, you're just confusing people.

ShandaLear · 29/05/2022 13:50

Nothing to do with the wife, but a good comeback could be, “Why thank you, random man. Excellent patronising”’ accompanied by a sarky grin and big thumbs up.

worraliberty · 29/05/2022 13:51

Ahh right, 'a responsible dog owner' - got it.

Sparklingbrook · 29/05/2022 13:52

Thanks for the translations but I still don't get it. What have the 'delightful toddlers' got to do with it?

Perhaps he’d just spent the last 10 mins scraping dog poo from the bottom of said delightful toddler’s shoe?

BellePeppa · 29/05/2022 13:57

I had to read a couple of times to make sense if it but who are you talking to? Some lady you know is on MN and hoping she’ll tell her husband off for being patronising? If you know who it is why not contact her direct, if you don’t know who it is why are you ranting to unconnected strangers? 🤷‍♀️

You're right, sexism is everywhere. Like women holding other women responsible and scolding them if their male partner does something prattish.

Perfectly put

FiveShelties · 29/05/2022 14:04

I thought you meant he was congratulating you on your choice of dog breed.

No idea why you are having a go at his wife

RewildingAmbridge · 29/05/2022 13:41

Why is it her fault her husband is a dick? Why does she need to be told? Your misogyny is showing.

Completely underlines the issue of everyday misogyny. Man independently behaves like complete tool, yet a woman is obviously to blame. Give yourself a talking-to, OP... Hmm

AgathaAllAlong · 29/05/2022 14:09

You're being equally as sexist addressing this to her. Women are not responsible for the awful behaviour of men.

MissyB1 · 29/05/2022 14:10

you should have replied “yes and my next good choice is to give it to you Mr Patronising Twat” then slung the poo bag at his feet.

AlternativePerspective · 29/05/2022 14:11

wel a an <shock horror> offered to pick up after my dog the other day. He wasn’t being patronising, I am blind and it’s a guide dog. I did actually pick it up myself, but not all men are arseholes it would seem.

ChristineCagney11 · 29/05/2022 14:11

He's a dick but no idea why you think the woman with him was responsible for his twatty behaviour ?

AlternativePerspective · 29/05/2022 14:11

A man even

And in complete contrast to this, a female neighbour of ours shouted abuse at a partially sighted (I think) lady about picking her guide dogs poo up before the dog had even finished pooing!

greatblueheron · 29/05/2022 14:15

I get it.

It's much like men who shout at and road rage at drivers who are women... or who they think are women... and would never dream of confronting a man about.

There's no way a man would stand over another man to make sure they cleaned up after their dog. None. But a small woman on her own?

Bullies.

AlternativePerspective · 29/05/2022 14:17

Oh I know plenty of people that has happened to. It’s always useful to point out that guide dog owners are legally exempt from having to pick up after their dogs, although it is obviously very much encouraged.

Noelsjumper · 29/05/2022 14:17

He's sounds like a prick...but weird you want the wife to address his behaviour, and not him?! Personally I'd just have had a word with him at the time myself?

Beaucoup · 29/05/2022 14:18

Or -

“Was picking up my dog’s poo today, when random man supervised me doing it and said “good choice” at the end - how bloody annoying!”.

but clearly this version wouldn’t do OP would it?

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 29/05/2022 14:19

"Good choice" is such a weird things to say, as if there are choices? Are you sure he meant what you think he meant it?
And definitely weird post, that wife need to be told off for what her husband said.

MagnoliaTaint · 29/05/2022 14:20

IncompleteSenten · 29/05/2022 13:24

Op was walking her dog.

Man, woman and two young children also walking.

Ops dog took a shit.

Man stopped to supervise.

Op picked up the shit.

Man said "good choice".

Obvious response is 'I knew you'd like it', then hand man the bag of shit, surely?

girlmom21 · 29/05/2022 14:20

That's interesting @AlternativePerspective - I wasn't aware of that. Thanks!

QuebecBagnet · 29/05/2022 14:21

If you can’t think of a witty retort at the time I’d go with “fuck off twat”. He’ll soon learn to mind his business.

VodselForDinner · 29/05/2022 14:23

Why is this not addressed to the man with whom you had the issue? Why is his wife answerable?
