Wash it and dry in a salad spinner!

00100001 · 28/05/2022 17:51

You should wash all fruit and veg really.

You dry it by spinning it or patting it down etc

crips · 28/05/2022 18:14

Place it on a tea towel and roll it up like a swiss roll
Use it syraight away or store it in the fridge still in towel

Lavenderlast · 28/05/2022 18:16
  • If it isn’t organic, that means it has been sprayed with insect killer and you are literally eating poison 🤢
  • If it is organic, it’s not quite so bad but probably got some soil and bug dirt on it - still minging not to wash it.
BurningGubbins · 28/05/2022 18:24

I don't have time in my life for that (yes, I know it takes minutes). Never had any issue with eating "poison" as I am well aware of the UK legislation on the use of pesticides etc and realise it's not an issue...

I opened this thread thinking it was a euphemism.

Me too! Although I've also had one too many too drink 😂

whoami24601 · 28/05/2022 19:14

Lettuce is the only thing I wash. I can taste the chemicals if it's not washed!

marmiteandminticecream · 28/05/2022 19:20

ok i'm a minger but i ain't going to change , damp lettuce don't appeal to me

No I can't be bothered

lobsterkiller · 28/05/2022 19:30

The one time I didnt, I had a bad stomach. I always wash now and then salad spin.

Flesh · 28/05/2022 20:04

Yes. The pickers shit and piss in the fields and trust me there's no hand washing facilities.

Spent a summer as a picker. Wash everything ever since.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 28/05/2022 20:05

No, I don't wash it unless it looks dirty

Octomore · 28/05/2022 20:12

Always, always, always.

Even bagged lettuce can cause food poisoning.

TargusEasting · 28/05/2022 20:15

Always wash it. Spiders will have jizzed on it.

HarrietSchulenberg · 28/05/2022 20:15

I know you're supposed to, but I don't unless I'm preparing food for anyone outside my immediate family.

OldEvilOwl · 28/05/2022 20:20

Never. And I've survived 46 without being ill from it

carefullycourageous · 28/05/2022 20:27

Yes I always wash fruit and veg.

Arnaquer · 28/05/2022 20:28

Mind your own business Grin

Oblomov22 · 28/05/2022 20:29

No. I wash no veg.

upinaballoon · 28/05/2022 20:31

No. I let it get nasty and brown in the fridge and then throw it away.

EcafTnuc · 28/05/2022 20:32

Lettuce tastes manky if you don’t wash it. I don’t wash anything else though tbh

AlisonDonut · 28/05/2022 20:36

I grow most of mine so yes.

If I do buy it, I know how they grow it so yes.

So yes. Definitely. I wash all fruit and veg.

Snowiscold · 28/05/2022 20:37

Yes, and I’m generally lax on the washing of stuff.

Ferngreen · 28/05/2022 20:39

I slice a portion off and soak in sink ( imagining all the chemicals soaking off) then shake it hard down and put it to drain further on the side
