£1.25m and didn’t move the clothes horse

Probably some of the most unflattering estate agent photos I’ve ever seen…no show pineapple here!
For £1.25m, why oh why didn’t they move the clothes horse and coats?

This is a mean-spirited post. The house is clearly either a probate sale or a forced sale for people in care. Imagine if the relatives come across this thread that the OP seems to have made in order for people to make fun of what looks to be unfortunate circumstances. When we sold the photographer told us he was not allowed to move anything, so this is how the house was left by the occupants.

Haha an elderly person has died. Let's mock their home in public

They died? How do you know?? They could be downsizing, going to live on a cruise ship, who knows. Jumping the gun a bit saying they've died 🙄

Beees · 26/05/2022 07:57

These threads are nasty. That's someone's home, you don't know what's happening.

It's not nasty, no one who understood the first post thinks this is a nasty thread.

It's not disparaging or mocking the vendors, it's clearly commenting on how rubbish the agents are and expressing surprise they've clearly not done their job properly.

Why is nasty to say the photos are shit, if they are in fact shit?

The photos are really terrible. Lights on, curtains closed? This is the kind of thing you expect from a studio flat box room.

I love that glass lampshade they have in the upper hallway, I need one of those.

LouisCatorze · 26/05/2022 08:01

I don't think it's rude to criticise the poorly done photos but it is to second-guess the background story behind the house sale.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 26/05/2022 08:03

It'll sell for where it is, airer or not!

SoggyPaper · 26/05/2022 08:04

The EA watermark all across the first photo infuriates me. You can’t see the house properly because of it.

the agent is there to market the property. No one wants the EA name emblazoned across the middle of their main photo on RM.

carefullycourageous · 26/05/2022 08:04

@Beees I disagree, I think sneering at other people's home listings is nasty, I hate these threads and think those who have the energy to start them need a new hobby.

If the owner saw this, would it help them feel good? No.

Not every shitty thought that goes through your head needs to be shared. Kids at school are taught to THINK before speaking/posting - is it True, Helpful, Interesting, Necessary, Kind. This thread fails on all IMO.

good point. 🤣

Roselilly36 · 26/05/2022 08:06

The photos look like the photographer turned up unexpectedly. Obviously a well loved home, it’s a shame the EA aren’t doing it justice.

Intrigueddotcom · 26/05/2022 08:10

Haydugee · 25/05/2022 23:49

They clearly don’t want to sell 😂.

Im curious about the view. There are so many curtains.

For that location and ease to London
i reckon it’s underpriced!

CaptainBeakyandhisband · 26/05/2022 08:10

Though I am also quite certain that we got our (absolutely beautiful) house because it was up for sale in a similar condition overall and the EA photos were diabolical. According to the EA at the time they had tried to get the seller to go for a professional photographer but they refused. Overall the house looked dark and cluttered, but in reality once you got inside you could see how beautiful it really was. I’m always a bit grateful for that - there would have been a fight on if the photos were better.

VeganCow · 26/05/2022 08:14

I agree this thread is not nice. The family may have told the agent to get it done fast, and the agent was respectful of that, they may have had other things going on that made nicely staged photos low on their priority list.

userxx · 26/05/2022 08:18

@CorpseReviver Oh, did you know the person who lived there who died ?

FurCoatNoNickers · 26/05/2022 08:21

Horrible thread.

ArtVandalay · 26/05/2022 08:27

The OP did not start this for people to critique the decor. It was pointing out how bad and careless the EA photos are.

In Potters Bar, it probably matters less. But if you were trying to sell something in a less desirable location, you’d be right to be peeved if they didn’t at least attempt decent photos.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 26/05/2022 08:34

At last ! A use for a conservatory.

Flambola · 26/05/2022 08:34

I can’t believe what a load of self-righteous shite I’ve just read on this thread.

It’s not even about being nicely staged. It’s about basic stuff that a vaguely competent human with a camera should be able to achieve.

the EA looks really bad because this marketing is terrible.

A rental maybe with tenants who don't want to move so are being unco-operative?

Oblomov22 · 26/05/2022 06:23

Ha ha.
Agree the decor is so dated. All vile.

It's an old person's house obviously.

Horrible post.

justasoul · 26/05/2022 08:55

I’m surprised people think the estate agents are responsible for the styling of the photos - when we last sold (pre-covid but less than 5 years ago) they sent the photographer and that was that, no input in the styling whatsoever. Though I suppose they might suggest changes if the owner is present, I’m not sure they are allowed to touch stuff themselves.

Exactly! The agents have been lazy because of the location but it makes them look incompetent. They can't even get the lighting right or take clear focused images.

If there were no signs that someone who was possibly elderly or needed care lived there everyone would have agreed with the OP and stuck to her original point which was about how crap the agents were.

The photographer is responsible for getting the best photos out of the house. Angles, lighting, temporarily shifting things…

its part of the service you are paying the EA for.
