£1.25m and didn’t move the clothes horse

Probably some of the most unflattering estate agent photos I’ve ever seen…no show pineapple here!
For £1.25m, why oh why didn’t they move the clothes horse and coats?

I think the lack of effort when taking the photos from the EA is suggestive of how easy a sale they expect it to be. (As well as the lack of photos.)

Does look like the owner was elderly and infirm and someone else moved in and was working from home (with a lot of screens).

easyday · 26/05/2022 00:08

It may indeed have had an infirm person living there but there are plenty of signs of other occupants.
The photos are awful even without the contents.

Agreed!

Yes it's obvious that someone older was living there but that doesn't accoubt for the crap photos.

Even if the property will definitely sell because of the area it is in, the agents don't deserve their commission the pictures are shockingly poor quality and they have shown absolutely no respect in leaving everything in situ.

Brandnewwoman · 26/05/2022 06:38

I just feel sad when I see houses like this for sale where it's clear that an elderly person lives/lived .
The sale could be forced to pay for care.

tupperwaretowers · 26/05/2022 06:51

Pictures really don’t do it justice. No pictures of key features like the 39’ garage/workshop, self contained fully fitted out annex and the inny/outy driveway.

Oblomov22 · 26/05/2022 06:23

Ha ha.
Agree the decor is so dated. All vile.

What a horrible comment to make

Cleanbedlinen12 · 26/05/2022 06:58

I think it’s nice to see a home that’s obviously not been staged or painted neutral. It’s like the olden days when they said don’t buy a house that’s been recently tarted up as it’s hiding something.
you can still see what the rooms are like!

princesshasnocrown · 26/05/2022 06:58

Ugly house but would love gorgeous once it's finally given a sparkly grey everything make over Wink

Cleanbedlinen12 · 26/05/2022 06:58

But yes, really lazy estate agent.

Whyareblokesonhere · 26/05/2022 06:59

Um, so that you have a reason to start a Mumsnet thread and then hope it helps you find a buyer?

DisforDarkChocolate · 26/05/2022 07:00

That looked tired and unloved from the first picture.

I see either a money pit or a rebuild.

Rubyupbeat · 26/05/2022 07:04

It wouldn't put me off at all, I can see beyond that. Its obviously an older persons home, hence the dated decor. Mind you just as bad are the bland grey and white homes.
I really like the place, lots could be done to make it your own.

SoggyPaper · 26/05/2022 07:05

I looked at the OP and thought it was about the poor quality estate agent photography. Not the house itself or why it looks like that. What’s the commission on £1.2 million? The photographer can temporarily move airers and coats to take the best photos possible. If moving them isn’t possible, just don’t use the photo.

It looks like a crap estate agency.

HappyHappyHermit · 26/05/2022 07:08

I think it's refreshing to see something that looks lived in, you can easily imagine how it would look if it was updated, but can also imagine how the current owners have been happy and lived their lives there.

User7493268965 · 26/05/2022 07:08

It's better than buying something that has all been recently repainted to hide any faults, as PP said, in the olden days you would be wary of a recently tarted up house

KangarooKenny · 26/05/2022 07:09

What a mess, it looks like a rest home.

TulipsGarden · 26/05/2022 07:10

It will be a lovely house once someone else - who isn't elderly or infirm - takes it over. It probably was a lovely house when they were young. It's such a good size, doesn't look in bad condition, very livable with.

The EA should have moved a few bits for clearer photos, I would make a note to avoid that company if I lived round there.

Friedaseyebrow · 26/05/2022 07:11

Not my taste, but it's priced to sell as a doer upper in that location.

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 26/05/2022 07:13

My guess is this is a tenanted house where the tenants have kindly cooperated up to a certain point to allow the sale after a section 21 has been served.
It looks like a dead relative of the owner's house and they let it while probate was going through.

Does the pineapple picture and poem in page 5 not count?

It could be a lovely house but the photos have been really badly done, and that’s got to be the fault of the agent.

User7493268965 · 26/05/2022 07:16

Most people would want to do it up and decorate it themselves and put their own furniture in there, it's not a furnished rental that is being advertised, so the furniture is not really relevant.

Is it OPs parents house they are hoping to drum up business for...

Knittingchamp · 26/05/2022 07:17

Lolliepoppie · 26/05/2022 00:06

To be clear this is not a dig at the owners (most people have airers etc).

It was marvelling that the estate agents chose to take a photo of a prominent and fully loaded clothes horse when marketing such an expensive property.

Exactly this, it's the estate agents job to take photos, how lazy does the estate agent have to be to not even bother moving the clothes horse?! It's not a criticism of the owners at all.

LouisCatorze · 26/05/2022 07:18

I would be changing the estate agent pronto, seeing those photos. Nothing wrong with the house. Clearly whoever lives there is busy and was probably caught unawares by the photographer arriving with very little notice. The price is about right for Home Counties properties of that ilk, I'd say. From the outside you'd think it would be bigger than a three bedroom property though.

bloodyunicorns · 26/05/2022 07:19

They don't want to sell! 😂

Haha an elderly person has died. Let's mock their home in public

icelollycraving · 26/05/2022 07:19

We all like a wtf property post, this one seems in bad taste tbh.
