What would you expect a "bottomless brunch" to be?

Girly weekend away, bottomless brunch suggested, at around £20 per head. All agreed. Ended up being £12 more.

What would you expect from it?

for £32 in total???
I'd expect to be able to eat and drink all day and feel enormously happy and fat before I fell asleep...and then have supper.

If it's a stale croissant and a sip of not champagne cat pee, I'd feel bloody cross hungry and overcharged.

actually, forget that.

If it wasn't a "help yourself and come back for seconds" fry-up with a couple of pints of lager...nah, not for me. I'd rather be hungry.

Yutes · 20/05/2022 13:47

Depends where in the world you are - but I would expect it to be minimum of 4 drinks and a brunch type meal

Roominmyhouse · 20/05/2022 13:48

£32 seems reasonable, I’ve done one at las iguanas and it was £30 a head. Two courses and unlimited Prosecco for 90 mins and they were generous on the top ups! Lots of places charge similar amounts but of course there are more expensive ones. I love bottomless brunch! 🥂

Garagewonderings · 20/05/2022 13:49

I went to one of these and it turned out that there was very little food on offer, but we had 2 hours to drink as much prosecco as we could. I was disappointed as i was cutting down on alcohol so was happy with just a glass of prosecco but wanted a lot more food - but the rest of the party liked it (and were hammered)

Pennox · 20/05/2022 13:50

I'd rather go for brunch, pay for the meal I wanted say Egg and Avocado on toast, and buy a couple of drinks. All of which would cost me around 20/25 quid so surely a better option?

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 20/05/2022 13:53

tricky balance though, daytime drinking. You really have to carry on, or you’ll be in bed at 5pm with a headache.

///

God yes Skinner, I rarely do daytime drinking these days but this ⬆️

I enjoy the process more than evening out drinking - mainly as I rarely go out drinking in the evening these days! - but I always end up feeling crap by 5pm even if I've not had much. And The Fear kicks in early too where I'm paranoid I look like an embarrassing Drunk Mum 🙁

Mimijamroll · 20/05/2022 13:55

My student dd has attended one of these. It involved unlimited cocktails over a 2 or 3 hour time period. She said it's best to all agree to get the same cocktail for a round, it's then quicker for the bar staff to make the round of drinks and you can imbibe more alcohol in the time period.🍸 . Some kind of brunch was also included.

LynneBenfield · 20/05/2022 13:58

8 pages in and we’re still none the wiser…

Maroon85 · 20/05/2022 13:59

I've never known a £20 bottomless brunch to include alcohol. That would be a cheap price here for whatever food you wanted, plus tea and coffee. The supplement for prosecco is usually about £12 extra though. Maybe this is just one of the perils of living in the south

Brideandprejudice · 20/05/2022 13:59

Not a lot for 20 quid.

TuTuLemon · 20/05/2022 14:05

@Skinnermarink I agree, I've come to realise Prosecco is actually the best drink to have if I'm going to be drinking over an extended period of time!

HogInAManger · 20/05/2022 14:05

Around my way it’s £30.

Nothing about the offer is truly ‘bottomless’. You are limited to one breakfast dish, two hours, and refills of your drink (from a special menu )taken at management’s discretion.

Did I hear ‘rip off’?

burnoutbabe · 20/05/2022 14:06

If we were in vegas though i'expect an you can eat arrangements plus extra to add alcohol as tea coffee usually included.

Sone of then we're great (but called buffets anyway)

Cakecakecheese · 20/05/2022 14:08

I had one that was 20 quid with wowcher or Groupon, can't remember. It was a really nice 3 course meal and unlimited prosecco. We could have upgraded to cocktails but the list wasn't very exciting so we stuck to fizz.

Cocobeau · 20/05/2022 14:08

All these responses and you're still just going to be better off googling the venue. 🙃

TuTuLemon · 20/05/2022 14:09

Gah this thread is making me wish I was at a bottomless brunch rather than work right now!

mizzo · 20/05/2022 14:23

Oh on the contrary, I find Prosecco is a good choice for daytime drinking!
Oooh no, I have a two glass limit. By the third I'm either slurring my words and tripping over or nursing a migraine!
Where as I can drink gin or rum all day long!

yesthatisdrizzle · 20/05/2022 14:23

I wouldn't want to pay £32 for a brunch.

Sounds like a complete rip-off.

QOD · 20/05/2022 14:27

well don't leave us hanging!

which incidentally I have ALWAYS been after a bottomless brunch ...

Thinkbiglittleone · 20/05/2022 14:30

For £20, I certainly wouldn't expect bottomless alcohol, on top of being fed. It's only £20 after all.

mizzo · 20/05/2022 14:31

It depends how much you eat and drink.
I took DD out for a regular brunch followed a few cocktails and spent just under £100.

Maybe it was today and the OP is currently asleep in the flowerbeds..

Livercool · 20/05/2022 14:36

Wouldn't be happy paying for unlimited prosecco at that time of the morning as I wouldn't drink a drop before lunchtime. I would expect unlimited lunch and breakfast foods and coffee.

TunaSalad · 20/05/2022 14:36

One meal with unlimited alcohol, so prosecco usually or some places serve cocktails.
