Wow! Not very professional was she?
What a state to be in when that level of venom and vitriol is shown on the front bench in the House of Commons.
Some fucker needs to get a grip fast.
Disgraceful.

Stephen Hammond, Conservative MP for Wimbledon (maj. 628) and former minister says he’s submitted a letter of no confidence in the Prime Minister: “I have said consistently throughout I cannot and will not defend the indefensible.”

Good. Let's have a few more of them.

I think we should allow Carrie Johnson some privacy and not speculate.

Carrie - is that you?

DuncinToffee · 26/05/2022 17:40

Boris Johnson's spokesman has apologised on behalf of the No 10 press office for its handling of Partygate.

During press briefings, Downing Street spokespeople repeatedly told journalists that all Covid rules had been followed in Downing Street.

Oh, of course. All the lies and misinformation were somebody else's fault. Who'd have thought it?

Cornettoninja · 26/05/2022 17:57

Why do tories think invoking names of historically significant people somehow makes them comparable to that person?

DuncinToffee · 26/05/2022 17:59

Interesting

It feels to me like the Tories have shifted into fairly serious election mode. Yesterday dozens of MPs went to a target seat away day in Leicestershire about defending against Lab/LD's. Dowden has 80-20 strategy of seats to hold/seats they targeting
They think that Wakefield is lost, and Tiverton is worrying.

"New @RedfieldWilton poll: Starmer edging back to positive territory, Sunak bad but nowhere near Boris, Boris cratering further.

9 point lead for Labour (40% to 31%), making it the largest Lab lead since invasion of Ukraine."

I think it is because they are so insecure in themselves, and realise that they are not going to be remembered as anyone of any significance or as someone who has contributed positively to society.

I find this interesting, I thought the Tories would find it easier to hold Wakefield than Tiverton, even though the majority in one is far larger than the other.
If they think Wakefield has gone, then they are in more serious trouble than I thought.

L1ttledrummergirl that link on Vine, just heartbreaking. No wonder people aren't 'moving on'.

Chancellors help package - if the average fuel bill cost will go up by £800 this year and you will get £400 off your bill you aren't actually being given anything and are in fact £400 a year worse off ? Or did I miss something?

She's my Mp.

She's an absolute waste of a vote.

I emailed her once quoting 3 pieces of education legislation. What is done to get the la to meet that. That they weren't and asked for her help especially with her legal background.

The response I got (from one of her minions not even her) was ......

A copy of the legal document I'd quoted from to read to help me 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Luckily some years ago they removed the grants to help people insulate their homes and make other energy saving improvements.

Also now that we have left the EU can we do away with the ridiculous regulations on the efficiency of household appliances so we can have ones that use more electricity.

The issue with Sunak's very expensive help for the poorest (and not so poor) is the poorest wont necessarily save it for next winter... they have immediate needs that have to be met, so still wont be able to pay their bills and the wealthier will pocket that £400 and have a nice meal instead.

This was also a flaw in Labour's proposal.

A better way would have scrapped the £400 give away & given the energy companies the money to move the less well off onto lower tariffs and or increased UC... probably the best way.

Once again we clash! out with your remoaner nonsense! these far greedier appliances will give out much more heat as they burn out the pre payment meters their users are forced to have.
Helping the poor wrenches to keep warm as they prep their De Dietrich ovens for those 30p meals to store in their Miele freezers.

or lowered vat on fuel and domestic energy. Given the rises in prices they could both be cut without impacting the treasury’s current bottom line, the treasury is doing very well out of the current situation.

Yes - as the bills increase, the revenue in VAT increases. So I wonder how much extra VAT the Government has got from the increase in fuel bills?

Peregrina · 26/05/2022 21:10

Weren't we promised these as a benefit of Brexit? We have left the EU so what is stopping the Government from implementing this reform?

Ah yes, I hadn't considered that using an inefficient hoover would serve as a heater as well and save people spending the day on Boris' buses. How foolish of me.

the80sweregreat · 26/05/2022 21:38

They won't take the vat away now! It'll be ' we are doing this instead'

Ah, but the Tories voted against reducing VAT on fuel and domestic energy earlier this year, because they are a party without policies on the key issues of the day, and since they would not known for u-turns I can't see them changing their mind on that.
