I know that Boris Johnson isn't mega mega rich , he has a few bob I suppose , but Zac Goldsmith is head and shoulders above him in the 'rich stakes. ' ( if it's true, although someone on the daily mail comments pages mentioned about them splitting up )
Probably all just vicious allegations though. Twitter loves a rumour and not going out to a voting booth with him isn't that terrible.
Would she want to leave that wallpaper behind as well ? That took a lot of planning and other peoples money to sort that out too.

newnamethanks · 26/05/2022 11:55

I hope she hasn't left him. One, they appear to deserve one another and two, imaging him cresting a wave of public sympathy. No. Not to be borne. Go home Carrie.

Notonthestairs · 26/05/2022 11:56

Private Eye notes no one was legally obliged to complete the Mets questionnaires (p7 Fine by him). Article comments on sheer number of junior/female staff fined in comparison with more senior staff who were more likely to be in a position to get legal advice.

So if you didn't provide information the police had to be able to be reasonably certain any FPN would hold up in court.

It wouldn't surprise me if Johnson was advised not to complete the forms and wait it out.

They also noted that the birthday party was already in the public domain and officially photographed so they had sufficient info to press ahead.

Hence he knew he'd be in line for 1 FPN but could be reasonably confident that would be it.

ClaudineClare · 26/05/2022 11:57

Apparently there are also rumours that Johnson has moved on to his next partner...

It's probably all crap. Carrie might be simply keeping a low profile at the moment because of Partygate.

newnamethanks · 26/05/2022 12:03

Zac's dad, the repellent James Goldsmith, Asset Stripper Extraordinaire, said, on the day of his wedding to Annabelle, that marrying the mistress creates a vacancy. I suppose that applies to wives as well.

Interesting post & responses 👀

This is really worth a read. It does make you wonder what we, the public, are putting up with in government

Whatever the rumours, the Johnsons are definitely protected by the papers. I expect we will see a happy family pose soon.

Stokey · 26/05/2022 13:36

The ZG rumour has been around since before Wilf was born. I'm expecting her to announce another pregnancy any day. Th he rumours about Johnson playing away from home will always persist as that is who he is, hard to know if there is any basis this time.

I think they'd be bonkers to call an election soon, they've got a massive majority, why rock the boat?

DuncinToffee · 26/05/2022 13:40

Ah diddums

Some anger among Tory MPs about the windfall tax U-turn - mainly they are fed up with so many U-turns

Tory MPs were whipped to vote against a windfall tax just a week ago

One tells me they look “like prats”

Have they only just noticed? 😁

That's a great thread by by SturdyAlex. One thing to pick him up on, though- that is, in fact, exactly what I have been saying for months...

I agree. And isn't it amazing that us ordinary people (not calling you 'ordinary' as such Piggy... just trying to illustrate a point)... us ordinary people can dissect and abide by the laws and rules set, we can work out when something is being compromised, we know what the law is, we are adept at spotting trashy PR and predictable patterns of dead cats... and so on.

The Government really does treat the public as complete fools.

AND you can't treat people like shit and expect them to just stay silent and roll over

Security guards and cleaners, who work in government offices, will protest against Whitehall’s “culture of disrespect” towards low paid workers outside of Downing Street.
The demonstration will take place from 5:30pm on Friday

"Acting Met chief Sir Stephen House suggests some individuals involved in Partygate did not return their questionnaires, although the “vast majority” did.

He claims Scotland Yard was “not put off” investigating those individuals as a result, if anything it “spurred” them on."

I'd love to see Johnson's questionnaires (if he actually completed them).

Roussette · 26/05/2022 15:01

I do hope Pritti Patel doesn't exercise her new Bill and arrest them. That might not go down well Shock

I think we should allow Carrie Johnson some privacy and not speculate.

I think she shouldn't have been having parties in lockdown.

Stephen Hammond, Conservative MP for Wimbledon (maj. 628) and former minister says he’s submitted a letter of no confidence in the Prime Minister: “I have said consistently throughout I cannot and will not defend the indefensible.”

DuncinToffee · 26/05/2022 17:02

Braverman.

Worth bearing in mind, the question this was replying to was: Can I ask the attorney general one very straightforward question, which only requires a yes or no answer: did she personally authorise the briefings to the Times and to Newsnight regarding her advice on the protocol?

L1ttledrummergirl · 26/05/2022 17:05

I wrote a long reply earlier which I never finished to post.
There was a caller on Jeremy Vine extra, in the last segment of the program called Louise. Every conservative MP who is still backing the polished turd needs to be shown it.
I'll try and find it, but if you get a chance to look for it to watch its worth it.

Rishi Rich finally doing something, not enough, but something. Maybe he could say the first lot of fuel money no longer has to be repaid as the levy can stay a bit longer to cover that too.

It might help if they actually make the funds available to those who need them.
My council apparently no longer issue cheques, so if you don't pay by direct debit (mainly paid by those least in need, everyone else is juggling), you have to wait for them to write to you, then fill in a form to apply for it, then return the form with a copy of your bank statement (again, not something those most in need will, I think have filed waiting).
If you need the council to help you with this process it will be at least another month
This is for something the government keeps saying that everyone has already received.

They are making it as difficult as possible for those who need it to receive it.
More fucking soundbites and hollow promises from this government.
