My sympathy Rousette, he's notorious for his arrogance. I wish you luck in getting rid of him but, as you say, sadly it's not very likely. Hope you get a reply, don't hold your breath.

And Douglas Ross thinks the PM should resign when the war in Ukraine is over.

"It appears you could have held a proper wake with lots of people during lockdown if you’d designated a ‘funeral’ as a ‘leaving do’ (which is sort of technically is?)"

@DuncinToffee - so that may or may not be before the next election, as I have horrible suspicion that the war in Ukraine could end up being a long war of attrition Sad

So Boris is going to continue as leader of the Tory party after the next election when they will be out of power and he will have lost his seat. Interesting.

Cornettoninja · 25/05/2022 17:15

I only caught half of BJ’s statement and it pissed me off. He should be taking responsibility for every FPN issued that happened in the building he is in charge of. In the country he is in charge of.

I did catch one of the journalists questions about whether in light of partygate and downing streets and his incorrect interpretation of their own laws whether he felt in retrospect their handling of covid restrictions was poor and badly communicated (paraphrased). I thought that was quite a clever pov.

@DuncinToffee not one of them has a shred of integrity do they? Here we were thinking the British empire finished decades ago when in fact this is the death song. The remaining class of global suffering wringing out the last few drops from their own citizens.

I’m almost nostalgic for the days the ruling classes at least tried to kill each other off on a fairly regular basis.

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2022 17:20

The war in Ukraine started in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea and could go on for many more years.

Ross is the one calling for a resignation, then changing his mind and now this gem

"A source at the @metpoliceuk says the reason why junior Downing Street staff got fined, while senior figures didn't is that the senior people failed to answer the questionnaire.
So non-cooperation gets you off.
I'll remember that next time I'm arrested for protesting."

Excellent character assessment and chronicle of Bozo's inability, or refusal, to change by Andrew Rawnsley, in the Guardian.

Senior staff were lawyerd up

Blossomtoes · 25/05/2022 18:04

Shameless attempt at defending Johnson by Rachel Maclean on PM. She didn’t sound as if she was convincing herself. The woman who earlier this month suggested some people struggling with rising prices could consider working more hours or getting a better-paid job.

cakeorwine · 25/05/2022 18:10

So he thinks work events were allowed?
Maybe we should have had work events with wine and cheese during lockdown?
Think we missed a trick there.

Why not just say “when hell freezes over” and have done?

it's what I believed to be true

There you go, we now all can use that excuse

We are in trouble when the leader of the country starts with the "my truth" stuff.

1922 committee

Ben Kentish
At the 1922 Committee, Harriett Baldwin suggested that alcohol should be banned in Downing Steet and government departments. Boris Johnson replied that he thought Britain may not have won the Second World War if alcohol hadn’t been available in Downing Street in 1940.

Yep, good to see he takes is serious FFS

There is an error in your post. Boris doesn't think except with his....

Adam Bienkov
Boris Johnson told Conservative MPs that the Partygate scandal "held up a mirror" to his government but then suggested that the mirror had been "distorted" by how the press covered it.

Taking full responsibility...

🙄WWII references again. Clearly trying to bring back rationing with his economic policies too.

He’s a relic, living in one of arguably the worst periods in the last century.

You know what he is right.

The media have not done nearly enough to present the facts about partygate and to ask the difficult questions. If they had there would not be anyone out there who doubted that Boris had broken the law on multiple occassions.

Sorry jgw1, my mistake

It is easy to forget, because he is supposed to be Prime Minister, but can't tell the difference between a party and work. Perhaps someone could design a sport the difference book for him, with each page having an office and a party.
