Bereaved Families

Our statement on the #SueGrayReport:

"There we have it.

Whilst the country had one of the highest death rates in the world from Covid-19, they were celebrating over Cheese and Wine and drinking themselves sick over a Karaoke machine.

I've a feeling that this will be it now. We will all be all told to 'move on. ' SG has done the report blah blah.
The Durham police may well penalty fine Sir Kier Starmer for his gathering and we could end up with Boris Johnson still in charge and the LP having to find a new leader..
Nothing would surprise me anymore ( Boris Johnson has had a fine issued already and his chancellor too)
So now it's watch this space I suppose to see what happens next.

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/05/2022 14:39

@the80sweregreat I don't agree. Come the next election I intend to attend every husting possible and lay it on the line, including that my conservative MP didn't even have the decency to write back.
I'm thinking of writing to the chairman of the conservative party. What would happen if everyone did this?

TheCaddieisaBaddie · 25/05/2022 14:49

The news conference at 3.30pm - I bloody hope the press don't allow him to get away with not fully answering questions

Blossomtoes · 25/05/2022 14:50

Nothing. Except they might employ a couple of temps to send banal standard responses. They don’t care and hold us in complete contempt.

Imagine being the cleaner having to scrub red wine off the walls inside No10 while banned from visiting your own family at Christmas

He's neither sorry nor remorseful. He is proud of 'getting away with it' and will be laughing about it over lunch. Off to the 1922 later where half will hold their noses yet support him, the other half will agree to keep him as there's nothing to replace him with. Any decent Tories have been sidelined by him, or have walked away in disgust from him, leaving the dross that is the current front bench. Look at them! Nobody electable other than the bloody Labrador. Grim times ahead at Truth Twisters R Us.

@L1ttledrummergirl

You are me. My 1922 committee Tory MP has not replied to the last two polite, but succinct, emails to him.
I will be writing again.

The chairman of the conservative party might be the way to go also.

I also will be at every husting at the next GE. At the last one, just before, there had been a big survey on the public's view on all MPs and responsiveness and availability to constituents. Mine was voted 650th out of 650.

And here we are. Years later. No reply to emails. No social media. And I believe he shut his constituency office too.

He has a big majority. I will be doing everything in my power to get him out after decades of this.

Oh Rousette, if your MP is who I think he is, he doesn't bother with constituents and walks out of public meetings, if miffed, saying ' I've got a majority of 25,000+ so I'm not interested in your opinions'. Hopefully, it's not him. My Tory MP is much more human, answers letters and is no more a fan of Bozo than I am. He, however, has seen the 19,000 majority that welcomed him in drop to 900 at the last GE. It's concentrated his attention I think. Still won't be voting for him though.🙂

the80sweregreat · 25/05/2022 15:36

Boris Johnson is on now on the news in the briefing room. One question each.

( They have also designated a place with expensive wallpaper to be a new bar for them all ' the covid arms'. I may have made that up :(
His hair could have done with a brush

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/05/2022 15:36

I'm in a swing seat so may actually make a difference. The only thing is I'm furious with my MP and the conservative party but don't feel able to get behind labour right now.

It's not a great place to be. The only thing I'm certain of is that my MP needs to go, she's useless.

newnamethanks · 25/05/2022 15:39

No point whatsoever voting Labour here, it'll have to be Liberal for me.

the80sweregreat · 25/05/2022 15:40

The Labour candidate here hasn't a chance either.

Dashdotdotdash · 25/05/2022 15:52

I think the Press needs to focus rather hard on those Wine Time Fridays. The taxpayers paying the salaries of everyone working in no. 10, Johnson included, are entitled to expect that those earning those salaries are working during all their contracted hours. They don't pay for them to knock off early on Fridays and start boozing. If you tot up the value of the wasted paid time at No. 10 over the full pandemic period, the sums involved would be significant. Is Johnson going to repay that?

newnamethanks · 25/05/2022 15:55

I'm watching The Chancer, flanelling away, and wondering how often his ex wives and girlfriends used to have to listen to this kind of guff before they'd had enough. Wearing.

prettybird · 25/05/2022 15:57

Watching BJ during the press conference repeatedly saying that Sue Gray's report effectively exonerates him and that he's not been aware of the breaches of regulations and that he thought he was at work. And that he takes full responsibility but not really, as he couldn't possibly know what everyone was doing in such a large place.

Am I the only one who is visualising Sue Gray shouting at the TV saying, "That's not what I said, you're misrepresenting me." ? Grin

EsmaCannonball · 25/05/2022 16:00

The whole thing is so dysfunctional. We need a government that is brilliant and creative and intellectual and driven, and instead we've got a bunch of dreary losers who need to be constantly chivvied and cajoled along with supermarket booze and the kind of food they want to ban from adverts; and then they bully the cleaners. I honestly wouldn't mind if we were being led by a government entirely composed of alcoholics who were world-class in their field, but instead it all smacks of a kind of institutional lethargy.

the80sweregreat · 25/05/2022 16:04

Boris Johnson did know what was going on though ! He is photographed being at one of them
He didn't know that others were breaking the rules at other times ? What a load of rubbish
Plus some of these 'dos ' sound more like a punch up in the Queen Vic than an important place of governance too !

InMySpareTime · 25/05/2022 16:04

The schroedinger's office, that's simultaneously so massive that you'd never hear a party elsewhere in it, and so small that the only place you can hold a work meeting in the evening is your attached flat 🤔

Piggywaspushed · 25/05/2022 16:09

I am so appalled by the 'these people organised PPE' defence. Manipulative and disgraceful.

I think it is! 20,000 majority and been my MP for over two decades. What, in the name of all that is holy, people see in him I have no idea.
Last GE we had a brilliant LD candidate. I hope she runs again because she is the only one who has a hope. Labour will never win here.

He is currently up for yet another job the Chairman of the EFRA committee (farming and rural affairs). What a joke. His farm is on the other side of the country, I imagine he spends most of his time there!

Let's see if he answers my email. Third time lucky for a response maybe!

Particularly given that the organisation of PPE was hardly the government's pandemic moment of glory.

Yes. That was particularly distasteful.

I found the 'but they worked so haaaard' awful. What about nurses, doctors, care workers. They were sat in an office, not on the front line. And knocking off for WTFs.

Beth Rigby at the end was great. She came back on his answer and it clearly annoyed him as he said "Why are only YOU coming back".

I think they were told they weren't allowed to which is pathetic as he can say what he wants in not answering and they can't say anything.
Well done Beth.

She only came back at him because his answer had little to do with her question anyway.
