Grin

Keir Starmer - "15 tax rises & he pretends they're a low tax government. It's 4 & 1/2 months since Labour 1st called for a windfall tax... & surprise, surprise HE'S now backing it.. I'm told that hindsight is a wonderful thing"

They don't call him Captain Hindsight for nothing.

In hindsight he realises that lots of people gathered together getting pissed might be considered a party.

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2022 12:40

High employment numbers are meaningless when wages don't cover the costs of living.

Blossomtoes · 25/05/2022 12:41

Just skimmed the report and it seems deliberately opaque. How hard would it have been to create a spreadsheet showing the restrictions in force at the time in one column and brief details of the events that coincided with them in another? Hopefully someone in the media is doing that right now.

No. SG noted CJ & 5 SpAds met in tne flat at 6. Johnson joined them at 8.

After Met investigation she didn't investigate further.

Yes, Sue Gray says she didn't investigate further because the police probe interrupted her, and she didn't think it worth examining further.

What about the Met?

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/05/2022 12:44

Yay, faux apology, thanked the met, takes responsibility.
Excuses coming

Notonthestairs · 25/05/2022 12:45

"I think the parties were bad but the thing which concerns me more is what this says about their integrity and honesty - and what that suggests about how the rules were being made and what factors were brought to bear. We may never know the full story.

And it all starts at the top - as we have seen so many times in the response to these revelations. Evasion, ducking and diving, treating the whole affair as a game."

twitter.com/adamwagner1/status/1529426865630461954?s=21&t=KGPnFB9NzhYLyJo2bT_gNA

This sums it up for me. No integrity. No honesty. Just one power grab game.

I don't believe that there is a single previous PM from my lifetime (50) who would have allowed similar behaviour especially at a time of national emergency, nor would they have worked so very very hard to cover it up.

BorisisaLune · 25/05/2022 12:46

He has gotten away with it, blamed junior staff and as Cameron said, BJ is a Greased pig and DC should know all about those.

Terrible damage to UK politics.

balalake · 25/05/2022 12:47

Resignation from the Prime Minister would be appropriate. Criminal charges better.

Cornettoninja · 25/05/2022 12:49

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2022 12:34

Don't insult children, Cornetto

You’re right - sorry kids.

maybe a dumpy clockwork orange wannabe?

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/05/2022 12:49

He called them gatherings and said he attended. Also that they breached the rules.
He then said he wasn't there. A contradiction in the same paragraph.
He says everyone else at the gatherings broke the rules, but he hasn't been found to have done. No, the met is as corrupt as you and in your fucking pocket!

newnamethanks · 25/05/2022 12:50

I hope a dramatist picks up the report, writes a TV play and it's broadcast on c4 at Christmas, similar to the Cumberbatch Brexit thing. Maybe if we could see it, people would pay attention and realise we are governed by a bunch of spineless chancers and spivs keeping Bozo in power.

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2022 12:51

It's a big place, really!?

Blossomtoes · 25/05/2022 12:53

Did anyone seriously expect him to resign? He’ll have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of Downing Street. Quite honestly I want him to carry on fucking things up until he loses his seat at the next election. If this debacle has shown anything it’s that huge majorities are unhealthy, I’d really like the next government to be an anyone but the Tories coalition.

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2022 12:54

it's what I believed to be true

There you go, we now all can use that excuse

Notonthestairs · 25/05/2022 12:54

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2022 12:51

It's a big place, really!?

Quite.

Hospital are tiny aren't they? I guarantee if a single hospital ended up with a police investigation and the greatest number of FPNs for a single employer the Chief Executive would rightly be out on their arse.

DressingGownofDoom · 25/05/2022 12:55

Hoped for a second he might resign but no.

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2022 12:56

Did anyone seriously expect him to resign?

No

jgw1 · 25/05/2022 12:58

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2022 12:51

It's a big place, really!?

It certainly is, which is why it sometimes took Boris a long time to wander from one party to another as he went about his role of tending the plants.

jgw1 · 25/05/2022 12:59

Notonthestairs · 25/05/2022 12:54

Quite.

Some of the 40 new hospitals that Boris is building are so tiny that in fact it is hard to tell if they actually exist.

Roussette · 25/05/2022 12:59

So agree. I'm old, I've seen PMs back to Harold Wilson, and there is not one of those who would've behaved and lied like Johnson has done. Even all the conservative PM's. I don't like TMay but she did have some moral fibre.
BJ has none

So agree with your last post Blossom

Starmer
`Even now, after 126 fines, they [Conservative MPs] still think its everybody else's fault...as if the fact that he only broke the law once, is worthy of praise. They set the bar for his conduct lower than a snake's belly."

Roussette · 25/05/2022 13:02

BJ is trying really hard to do contrite.
Not working.
He's just slinging insults at KS to cover his tracks.

And what I find sickening, absolutely sickening, is using the excuse continually that 'they were working so hard'.
What the fuck does he think care works, NHS, and all the rest were doing?

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/05/2022 13:02

Great statement Starmer.

Roussette · 25/05/2022 13:03

And there you have it. Bingo.
BJ just said 'we have to move on'.
