I'm sick of Keir's beer being trotted out as if it is the same, it wasn't the same. It might be a breach of the rules, and the Police will conclude on that, but it wasn't the bloody same.

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2022 19:57

Project Save Big Dog?

HarrietPierce · 24/05/2022 19:59

Keir's beer bears no comparison to what was going on in Downing Street.

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2022 19:59

Nothing new then.

This is really very depressing. We were so unlucky to have this PM for this crisis. I have never wanted rid of a PM so much before, it isn't about disagreeing with Johnson politically - I just don't think he has the moral right to hold the office.

Completely agree.

Keir's beer bears no comparison to what was going on in Downing Street.

Kiers beers Vs umpteen bottles of wine and a bottle of gin.

Including different times and different rules.

Couldn't agree more.

Notonthestairs · 24/05/2022 20:16

Umpteen bottles of wine and gin was just their standard Friday afternoon! Heaven only knows what a party would resemble.

ilovesooty · 24/05/2022 20:17

I thought the programme was disappointing. It could have been much more hard hitting than it was.

carefullycourageous · 24/05/2022 20:21

Oh, another event, this one has not been investigated by either Sue Grey (Gray?) or the Met apparently www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/damning-new-partygate-photo-no10-27055402

balalake · 24/05/2022 20:21

I learnt nothing, other than Boris Johnson likes Laura Kuennsberg's bum as well as two other parts of her body, gawping like a teenager as usual.

Notonthestairs · 24/05/2022 20:23

I'd just read the same courageous. Party 17/11/20. 30-40 attended.

I suspect we are going to get a rolling list of parties that weren't included in the Partygate reports.

ClaudineClare · 24/05/2022 20:35

That was a bit of a damp squib in some ways. Johnson will cling on whatever the Gray report says.

It is so very depressing.

Some CCHQ bot idiot rang into LBC just now and said something along the lines of we should all stop moaning and be grateful we don't have "real"corruption like other countries do.🙄

InMySpareTime · 24/05/2022 20:37

Because British corruption is world-leading?

They are definitely world beating Grin

🤣🤣 very quick!

Remind me again how much this Government spaffed up the wall on contracts with its cronies for Test & Trace in England? HmmAngry

Notonthestairs · 24/05/2022 20:54

"A journalist suspected of being rigorously critical of Johnson would not have been given this kind of access.

This is a carefully massaged "story of what happened", spiced with gossip, masquerading as forensic analysis.

It's a pretence. It's frankly shocking.

I haven't had time to watch Panorama as yet - not sure I'll bother.

Lol this. I come from a country with corruption and thought the UK was better, but apparently not, it's even worse as we seem to not be able to do anything about it, at least where I used to live people would have massive protests and the president can be impeached through the judiciary

MayorDusty · 24/05/2022 20:58

Sometimes I wish we had one of the more overt corrupt government that other countries have. At least their corruption is acknowledged. We all know Johnson will survive this.

prettybird · 24/05/2022 21:07

Was it the NYT, the WSJ or the Washington Post (one of the respected US papers anyway) that had to issue a correction in an article it had written about the Shock £37 million that the UK Government was spending on a failing test and trace/PPE protection programme? Had to correct it to say no, it was £37 BILLION ShockShock

You didn't miss much. It was a bit shit.
Nothing new, very sterile, Keirs beers floating through it. Definitely not the hard hitting program you would expect from panorama.

As with the mumsnet interview with Sunak, it was fluffy with the hard hitting questions being omitted.
I think this is to do with being allowed access to the government, but there is something fundamentally wrong with a government unwilling to be challenged by the electorate and those who seek answers on their behalf.

Dashdotdotdash · 24/05/2022 22:17

Panorama has gone quite badly downhill, especially since it started having half hour programmes. They simply can't present an in-depth investigation within that sort of timescale.

carefullycourageous · 24/05/2022 22:46

This one was an hour. If I'm honest I thought it was quite damaging. They led with the comments from staff, and the front pages tomorrow are not great as they have reproduced some of the comments. Yes Laura did some flannel about Johnson, but the comments from the likes of Mark Harper were also very robust.

Blossomtoes · 24/05/2022 23:07

It was more hard hitting than I was expecting. It’s all adding up. According to a Tory MP on PM this afternoon this will dog Johnson for as long as he’s in office and, much as he wants it to go away, it’s going nowhere.

I wouldn't be surprise if it dogs Big Dog once he is out of office as well. I can't imagine that people will forget that easily.
