He's right. I am amazed that Tory MPs have been so willing to present inconsistent & tenuous arguments knowing that there is the ever present risk that Downing Street will pull the rug out from under them.

balalake · 24/05/2022 17:32

The Royal Prerogative still exists, though not exercised since the 1840s, to dismiss a Prime Minister.

If the Queen did this, whilst this would provoke a constitutional crisis, many would applaud Her Majesty. Sadly not going to happen.

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2022 17:53

Just going to repost the Sam Coates as it got lost in the melee and the Grant Shapps moment is comedy gold

This is exhausting.

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2022 17:56

OP, I am noticing an absence of the usual cheerleaders. Maybe at last they have been rendered speechless. It's indefensible.

ilovesooty · 24/05/2022 17:59

Interestingly the Panorama programme due to be broadcast on BBC 2 at 7pm appears to have been pulled.

Are you sure LK was still mentioning it being on less than an hour ago

ClaudineClare · 24/05/2022 18:05

I know that my TV schedule shows something else on at 7pm so maybe they just haven't updated it?

PuppyMonkey · 24/05/2022 18:08

Laura K literally on R4 now saying it’ll be on.

The Schapps defense 'in his head it wasn't a party"

So the presence of alcohol is normal, something Sue Gray already alluded to. It explains a lot and not for the better.

Afghanistan is being discussed today, coordinating people' s lives from the beach.

Strangely, that doesn't seem to be a defence anyone else tried before being fined. Nor does it seem to be a defence provided for in the relevant legislation.

No. They're on another thread where someone is of the same view, but we're talking the majority overwhelmingly pissed off like we are.

It's just beer beer beer and it was just a work meeting type thing, and the panorama interviewees are labour leftists or some such twaddle

Shapps didn't do his homework

Grant Shapps has bizarrely claimed Boris Johnson was “clearly not partying” when he raised fizz at a No10 party.

Shapps says PM was in fact mourning his mum...despite the fact Charlotte Johnson Wahl died “suddenly” 10 months after the party happened

Oh dear. The quality of Tory lies is going downhill. They aren't even trying now, are they?

Roussette · 24/05/2022 18:12

I will catch panorama later as I'm out for a while

It's on my Sky app but if you try to record it, it says "error occurred". It's not on my TV planner.

Oh look cost of living package for Thursday - timed to distract from Johnson's lies & antics and give the Daily Mail a new headline.

That's the government we have now - they'll hold back critical help until they can use it to their own advantage.

It is on iplayer

Watching Panorama now.

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2022 19:05

I am half watching whilst sorting dinner

cakeorwine · 24/05/2022 19:14

Laughing at the security guard who said this party shouldn't be happening....

carefullycourageous · 24/05/2022 19:14

I'd bloody like a job with 'wine time Fridays' at 4pm EVERY WEEK! FFS.

ancientgran · 24/05/2022 19:19

Oh dear, hard to get Boris to wash his hands. Mucky devil.

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2022 19:21

Kung Flu, shades of Trump and his 'China virus'

carefullycourageous · 24/05/2022 19:24

This is really very depressing. We were so unlucky to have this PM for this crisis. I have never wanted rid of a PM so much before, it isn't about disagreeing with Johnson politically - I just don't think he has the moral right to hold the office.

Agree.

Whatever happened to the thing about "when the headlines become about you personally ....."

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2022 19:41

Ah there is Keir's beer, for the balance of the argument I suppose
