Where was this photo taken? Help us solve a mystery …

Apologies it’s wrong way round !

Been trying to figure it out a while but no idea - in amongst my mother’s photos, shes visited a lot of the UK and Germany but doesn’t recognise it at all .

Wondering if anyone recognises? It would probably be mid 80s-1998 or so .

(For what it's worth I wouldn't have had a clue it was London, am Irish but I guess have visited London ten or so times!)

Yep looks like the Thames and London to me.

Definitely from London Bridge looking towards Tower Bridge. That's the Tower of London on the right and Butler's Wharf on the left.

I was thinking... well that's the Tower of London but it can't be that obvious.

You're all right, it is the view westwards from Tower Bridge, with the Tower of London on the right. I used to work in one of the buildings in that photograph. On the left, beyond HMS Belfast, the pale fawn one behind the others, with the windows running the entire width of it.

I'm assuming they meant the actual photo was the wrong way round when they uploaded the pic of it on the carpet... as in portrait instead of landscape.. showing the correct way round for me

It's from Tower Bridge looking towards Westminster. HMS Belfast on the left, with Guys Hospital behind her (the cream building like a multi storey car park).

Work there. As everyone else has said - 10000% London Bridge. Hms Belfast on the left and tower London on the right. Taken from tower bridge - looking onto London Bridge.

I've also found this old mysterious photo but have no idea where it was taken. Can anyone help???

They are actually both of Whitby.

Could be wrong but it looks like the Thames in London. On the right it's the North Bank near Temple Church.

Thank you - I thought it was London tbh but wasn’t convinced .

FWIW I’m northern Scotland and have only been to London once 😳 , I’m not sure why it was so hard to recognise 🥴

It's hard because you're only seeing a tiny part of the tower frontage which is quite low. The main tower section is behind the trees. 😊
