DCs have been told a nuclear attack is imminent

By their 'D'F. I've name changed for obvious reasons.
Is it imminent? ExH thinks so. He hasn't told me but according to DS (6th form student) he has planned to send the DCs to the other side of the world !we are in the UK) to avoid the radiation fallout of a nuclear attack.
It came to light after I overheard a phone conversation/argument between DS & ex H.
I think there are many flaws in the exH plan, DS thinks his DF has gone mad.
Does anyone else know of others making nuclear war plans?

You can't just turn up in Australia and expect to go and live there.

RedChina · 11/05/2022 23:21

You can if you have dual citizenship.

That's the kind of thing my ex would come up with. Narcissist by any chance?

How old is your other child and how much time do they spend with their dad?

SpindleInTheWind · 11/05/2022 23:22

Aye, righty ho.

Stopsnowing · 11/05/2022 23:22

This triggered memories for me of growing up in the eighties and worrying what I would do if I was at school and there was a nuclear siren and trying to work out if I could run home in time.

Yes, I feel the same.

i read ‘children of the dust’ and the first couple of pages she is running home after the sirens go off it haunted me.

in times of extreme stress all throughout my life I have nightmares about a nuclear war it deeply affected me.

Yes, that's what I thought. But ex H is serious, he's made plans. Passport applications, citizenship for the DCs for his adopted country.

Umm not sure other countries will want ex H he sounds a bit unstable?

SweetSakura · 11/05/2022 23:26

He's being over the top. I don't think anyone can rule it out entirely but I think the general consensus is that even Putin isn't that out of control.

RedChina · 11/05/2022 23:28

Yes he is a narcissist. Years ago I put a child alert on him taking them out of the country but thought I was being paranoid. So last year agreed to the citizenship as I thought it would give the DCs more opportunities etc

Ok this is starting to make more sense - I don’t think you were being paranoid at all he’s waited for this opportunity unfortunately

Notcreativeatall · 11/05/2022 23:32

if he's just getting them citizenship thats ok- but is he actually making concrete plans for them to leave - eg booking specific flights etc- or waiting for a trigger?
I have had a few people here (I'm in Australia) tell me that i must be glad i'm not in the UK currently because of the nuclear threat

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/05/2022 23:34

Does anyone else know of others making nuclear war plans?

My neighbour is coming here with her best whisky.🥃

I do wonder- would they actually tell us?

if there was 2 mins or 4 mins or whatever length of time - would they risk mass panic which would be dangerous but also so so tragically unfair when if they didn’t say we just wouldn’t know about it as one minute would be here the next not.
it plays on my mind

Um not sure Putin is a massive aussie rules fan...

alltheteeshirts · 11/05/2022 23:40

If I could plan for a nuclear attack, I would.

But anyone mad enough to fire weapons of mass destruction isn't predictable enough to plan around, and the speed and radius of such weapons means you can't react fast enough without a serious amount of warning.

I'm doing nothing, not because I'm not worried, but because practically, I don't think there's anything we can do, apart from hope.

Can confirm that I’m not planning a nuclear war.
