I have just found out that the "sticky backed plastic" on Blue Peter was actually "sellotape" but they werent allowed to advertise it. How did I not know this?🤔

I think it is actually cellulose?

The original sellotape is made form cellulose I think

Hmm still think it’s cellophane as in cellophane tape. 🤔😊

That Igglepiggle is forever doomed to sail across the ocean in his little boat and only when he sleeps and dreams does he see his friends, otherwise he is all alone for all eternity.
I may or may not have cried more than a little bit when I clocked this…

Thank you for ruining my life 🤣

For those who asked about the petrol pump thing, here's the pic I took, I was so amazed it didn't know. You just choose £ or L then how much you want. It zooms up close to your number then slows down to dispense exactly what you chose.

Definitely not on any of the pumps I’ve ever used in the U.K. I have seen similar in France though.

The artists that draw people in court have to do it from memory. They are not allowed to draw whilst in court.

labazslovesliving · 13/05/2022 20:36

there was Fablon and there was Contact the latter being the cheaper I think and was sold in Woolworths. My home was held together by Contact it seemed; everything from covering the backs of doors to tabletops, the walls behind the dog basket ( save the oils in her coat keep marking the wall meaning lots of repainting) to headboards. Despite that, not a tiny bit was available for sticking together cereal packets aka Blue Peter. Mind, one Father's day we were allowed some leftover brown paint to paint some Blue Band Margarine tubs for dad to put nails and screws in in the shed. Sure it made all the difference to him thanks BP!

One more time for the people at the back: gold is measured in different units.

Correct, a pound troy is less than a pound overdupois. A kilo of gold and lead would of course weigh the same.

Is funny seeing the comments about Iggle Piggle. I read a theory that him floating away in the boat is him actually dying, and that what happens in the lead up to that is a dying hallucination.

Shock
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 15/05/2022 17:53

I've just had one now, on MN!

You know that expression "albeit" as in,

He cooked a lovely tea, albeit oven fish and chips

?

Well until literally NOW I thought you pronounced it "al-byt" but it's actually "all be it". Which is how it's spelt.

Thinking about it, "al-byt" doesn't even mean anything Confused

@DysmalRadius myself and my DP are now leaving the toothpaste on our teeth and he swears it is already helping with his sensitivity so a big thank you for that 'mind blown' tip!

I use a regenerating toothpaste called Biomin, don’t know if it works as well as it claims but my dentist has seen a difference. Anyway the instructions are to swill excess paste around the teeth at the end and do not rinse.
mug I’ve had a sensitive tooth I’ve been know. To smear a little on overnight and it has worked. Could be mind over matter of course.

Maybe that explains some of the interesting sketches from the Wagatha Christie trial 🤣 I don’t know about suing Coleen, I think I’d be suing the artist

@OrdinaryGirl How lovely !!

Mirw · 22/05/2022 00:16

Only some people eat live oysters. Most people eat them cooked.

DontTripPoppy · 22/05/2022 00:45

ITNG is a metaphor for death.

Iggle Piggle is literally giving up; taking down the sail and laying down to die because he is lost at sea ‘far away from land‘

didn’t know there were only two series but all the woodland shots from the episodes are all clearly filmed at the same time of year, looking at the light and the foliage

CherryRipe1 · 22/05/2022 00:48

That a human makes around six tons of poop in their lifetime. 💩

CaveMum · 22/05/2022 08:14

One I learned just last night while watching “The Story of 1998” - the All Saints song “Never Ever” is set to the melody of “Amazing Grace”. Don’t know how I never noticed that before!

Ahhhh- me too! I was gobsmacked. I saw them play and everything. Great programme reminiscing.

Sparklingbrook · 22/05/2022 12:19

Never Going to give you Up is pretty much the same as Smells Like Teen Spirit composition wise. Rick Astley sang it on stage in Tokyo and that’s how it was. 😁

Sparklingbrook · 22/05/2022 12:27

Actually it should be the other way around shouldn’t it? Rick was first.

Exercising by climbing down stairs and has better heath outcomes and builds more muscles than by climbing upstairs.

The Berentein Bears is actually Berenstain Bears.

You know you've read this same thread too many times when nothing is new but I'm stumped by this one 😀

What does it mean?

theDudesmummy · 22/05/2022 14:01

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair it's a reference to the Mandela effect

I guessed something like that @theDudesmummy but I've never even heard that name before

Having now googled it seems to be a US thing, is that right or have my children totally missed out on a cultural reference that will have them posting on threads about things they've never heard of 😜
