I’m always in the lookout for a really emotional song that gives you goosebumps. I currently like ’By your Side’ (Abbey Road Live Version) by Jonas Blue. What’s your favourite beautiful song?

Fisherman's Blue, The Waterboys. Saw them live a few months ago and their version of this was so exquisite it made me cry.

Love that song. I listen to it all the time!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/07/2022 01:42

The first time ever I saw your face. There's a lot of great versions but Roberta Flack's is still the best.

I'll add White Wine in the Sun by Tim Minchin - beautiful

AclowncalledAlice · 03/07/2022 09:46

This one is so beautiful.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/07/2022 10:57

@Skelligsfeathers

It's a beautiful song. I've always wanted it at my funeral. Autopsy is another killer as a break up song. And I love A Sailor's life.

What an album. ❤️

Indeed.
Last year, when my youngest went off to uni, that was the soundtrack to my (private) grief.
Got used to it now!

Veralil · 03/07/2022 13:27

I was just thinking the same Thunderpunt. Wish I knew how to use Spotify etc , I am old ! I will have a look and see if there is an idiots guide . It is a great post though and thank you all for giving me some wonderful songs to hear. One of my songs which always moves me to emotions and fills up my eyes with tears is Last request by Paolo Nutini, I love his voice so much.

Midnight Blue by ELO.
Joan Baez singing We'll go no more a-roving.
Not beautiful as such, but goosebump inducing and moving, Green Fields of France.

Oh, and "Jackie" by Sinead O'Connor.

I'll stand by you, The Pretenders
Will You, Hazel O'Connor
All by myself, Eric Carmen
Seasons in the sun, Terry Jacks
Two Little Boys, Rolf Harris
Nothing compares to you, Sinead O'Connor
Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol
Dry your eyes mate, The Streets
Wires, Athlete

DH says anything by the pet shop boys, but that would be tears of anger and frustration rather than sadness.
