I’m always in the lookout for a really emotional song that gives you goosebumps. I currently like ’By your Side’ (Abbey Road Live Version) by Jonas Blue. What’s your favourite beautiful song?

Bridge over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel. I wasn't born when it was released but my Mum had it on LP and I grew up listening to it.

Tisfortired · 02/07/2022 14:45

Nick Cave - Into My Arms

Phyllis321 · 02/07/2022 14:48

Many of Nick Drake's songs are very beautiful.

TimBoothseyes · 02/07/2022 14:51

Just Like Fred Astaire - James

It's quite an upbeat tempo but beautiful nonetheless.

Lark Ascending. I always liked it but it played on the radio after DD died. I had the privilege of seeing it live a couple of weeks ago, and it moved me to tears. It was so nice to see the documentary about it on the BBC afterwards.

One of my favourites. I'm sorry for your loss x

Rambling Man by Laura Marling. The line
"But if I sit here and weep, I'll be blown over by the slightest of breeze" has always spoken to me.

Figrolls14 · 02/07/2022 14:55

Case of you Joni Mitchell

OompaLoompaa · 02/07/2022 14:59

Sunscreen song.

GoodHearted · 02/07/2022 14:59

Paloma Faith - Just Be

Awoooga · 02/07/2022 15:03

Another vote for Piano Man!

Also Love of my Life by Queen, and Too Busy Thinking About My Baby by Marvin Gaye. Here Comes The Sun, The Beatles.

Sorry that’s more than one, can’t pick a favourite 😂 🤐

Figrolls14 · 02/07/2022 15:04

Lover you should have come over Jeff Buckley

Figrolls14 · 02/07/2022 15:04

Somewhere Only We Know by Keane
Babe by Styx (date-stamping myself with that one)
How Great Thou Art, the bigger the choir the better.

Netty909 · 02/07/2022 15:07

Me and Magdalena by the Monkees. It's just lovely.

KohlaParasaurus · 02/07/2022 15:09

I'm having a good wallow in happy tears just reading this thread.

Fluffymule · 02/07/2022 15:12

Oh some of those already listed, yes!

A few that have made me stop and just listen when they popped up on playlists this week;

Love and Affection - Joan Armatrading
Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
Waiting for That Day - George Michael
She’s Gone - Hall & Oats
The Drugs Don’t Work - The Verve

VickerishAllsort · 02/07/2022 15:13

Piano Man by Billy Joel, for all the reasons given by a pp.
Something Inside So Strong by Labi Siffre - a gentle war-cry that tears me up every time.
Love & Affection by Joan Armatrading. Her rich, velvety voice and the opening line "I am not in love but I'm open to persuasion". Glorious.

Chevyimpala67 · 02/07/2022 15:19

Agree with basically every single mention so far!

I'll add:
Chanson du matin - Elgar. Reminds me if a dear colleague.

I want to know what love is by foreigner and I can hear music by the beach boys which remind me of my lovely dad

Come what may from moulin rouge

Make you feel my love by Adele

Also genie in a bottle by Christina aguleura. Just makes me smile :)

DanceWithYourBalloon · 02/07/2022 15:21

'39 by Queen. It's sung by Brian May and it's beautiful. Just makes me think of being connected to our ancestors.

TimBoothseyes · 02/07/2022 15:25

Oh I have another. I played this to DD on the day she left home. It's not really mine or her favourite genre of music but it said everything I wanted to.

DanceWithYourBalloon · 02/07/2022 15:29

Also love this one by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It just makes me think that home is where my little family is no matter where we are in the world.
