Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

Gary Barlow was an absolute pompous twat and so was Philip Schofield. I met both during work, doing something in the building that was in place for everyone’s safety as the Queen was in attendance and both of them seemed to think they should be exempt from a very slight but necessary inconvenience. I needed access to their dressing rooms for a very short period of time before they’d started actually using them. Amanda Holden, Bill Bailey, David Walliams, most of Girls Aloud and Rod Stewart on the other hand were all really really lovely. Amanda Holden asked me to help her pick what shoes to wear 🙂 so many beautiful shoes…

Same job but different day - the Duchess of Cambridge is absolutely lovely, and Prince Harry has a brilliant sense of humour and you almost forget who you’re talking to.

Many years ago I worked at the BBC and met loads of celebs, most were pleasant and professional, Paul Weller was rude and up himself, Michael Palin was lovely, like chatting to a friend! Toyah Wilcox also rude and unfriendly.

No surprise re Carol Wright, she's always come across badly on Towie!

They ALL came across badly on TOWIE as vain, self-obsessed, thick-as-f*ck nobodies.

WorryMcGee · 10/05/2022 08:48

Oh also - not a celeb and not surprising either but I’ve met Boris Johnson twice when he was Mayor of London and he was a total twat both times. This was in his peak “loveable buffoon” era…

Chocoqueen · 10/05/2022 08:49

A nice one... but, surprisingly, Jillian Michaels. Big fan of her videos so went along to a live workout and talk she did in the UK a few years ago. Queued up afterwards with others for a photo and ask her to sign a copy of her book. The queue wasn't huge, but the venue tried to send those of us still queuing away after about 10 minutes. She insisted on staying until everyone had been seen. It probably only took another 10/15 minutes or so for her to meet everyone so not a huge amount of time but it always stuck with me that she insisted on staying.

I can confirm Z lister Bobby Davro is indeed a massive cock. I had the misfortune of dealing with him many times as a teenager when he was at the height of his 'career'. Definitely a 'don't you know who I am ' twat. Sadly my boss pandered to that shit 🙄

For those of you of a certain age.... Johnny Morris was also a twat. Refused to sign an autograph for me when I was little, making me cry (he was really gruff and dismissive). I got the autograph after my father 'had a word' 🤣

I have served very famous people in my previous job. Some I was really star struck by. But it isn't right, imo, to disturb people whilst they are eating or out with family.
I totally understand why someone would come across as arsey in these instances.

A friend of mine worked in TV early 2000s. She had a lift from Jeff Stewart to her train station from where they'd been working (her as a 'gopher', him as an actor). As she was saying thank you and making ways getting out the car he literally LAUNCHED himself across at her and stuck his tongue down her throat 😕 she couldn't get away quickly enough. He spent the rest of her time there (short thankfully) attempting to repeat it until she could take no more and left. Now she'd have reported it but back then she was worried abiut losing her only form of income whilst living in London.

DameHelena · 10/05/2022 08:55

John Humphrys. Just like he was on the radio: deliberately awkward, cantankerous, grumbles at everything. Tosser.
DJ Jimmy Young. Impatient, ungracious, male chauvinist.

Paul Merton was clearly shy, but polite and nice, talked passionately about comedy history.
Geoff from The Repair Shop is sweet and kind and an utter hoot. Has the most hilarious stories and a bottomless fund of them.

ninnynonny · 10/05/2022 08:57

The one person I am desperate to know is as intelligent, funny and an all round great person is Ricky Gervais. Has anyone met him?

And I'm heartbroken that Des O'Conner wasn't wonderful. I had a weird thing about him as a little girl...

Sidisawetlettuce · 10/05/2022 08:59

A friend of mine met actor Patrick Mower back in the early 80s. She queued for his autograph and he asked if she wanted a kiss. She said yes, imagining a kiss on the cheek but he stuck his tongue down her throat. She was 14.8

glittereyelash · 10/05/2022 09:01

John c reilly, hozier, Michael stipe are all really nice. Kanye west was just odd very intense. My brother was working an event tiger Woods was playing at and said he was a nightmare this was at the height of his fame.

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 10/05/2022 09:02

Best celeb I've ever met was Chris Mason. Such a genuine, friendly guy. Had a proper chat with me all about Newscast and was interested in me and what I thought about it. Really lovely man.

Who is he? Yes I know I could Google him, and I have, is it someone from the Bill?

Sidisawetlettuce · 10/05/2022 09:06

14 not 14.8!

TheBirdintheCave · 10/05/2022 09:08

The oddest experience my husband and I had with the parent of a well known figure was when we met Nigel Farage's father at a military event at Hever Castle. In stark contrast to his extremely unpleasant son, Father Farage was a delight! He gave us a personal tour of the little museum.

Sam West - as a youngster, my daughter had a very, very minor part in one of his productions. He was absolutely delightful to all the cast. Paid for them all to go out for a meal when the run ended. Fantastic!

Surely that's not the most unpleasant celeb you've met though? If he was lovely?

I can imagine Kate Middleton being very pleasant and normal. She always comes across that way. Gary Barlow is nicknamed Lord Frodsham because of his aspirations.

beetree1 · 10/05/2022 09:09

I worked in events Jessy from Little Mix at the time was a diva and rude to staff the other girls seemed nice and sat with everyone to eat and chat etc. Also the main singer from 1975 was an arse. Just constantly off his face and being rude to everyone.

Nicest was Gok Wan, he was doing a show where I worked and he would chat to everyone and have genuine conversations. Would sit and have lunch with people in the canteen. Full of compliments and came to the work Christmas party and was fab

newnamethanks · 10/05/2022 09:10

I strayed onto a thread some years ago and David Tennant was mentioned for some reason or other. This unleashed a horde of the most absolutely barking obsessive fans, mostly insulting his wife. Then someone added in Benedict Cumberbatch. Another horde of loons, also going for his wife. Astonishing, really quite worrying statements, off the scale nuts. Deleted after that. Frankly, if either of them don't welcome attention from strangers, it's not surprising. Imagine living with that level of crazy round every corner.

Ratonastick · 10/05/2022 09:10

I did a small project that involved some celeb chefs. James Martin was a total and utter arse of the highest order, spoke to everyone like they were shit and took about 10 attempts to get things right as he was completely unprepared and behaved as if the whole thing was beneath him. Jamie Oliver was completely vague but hit his marks first time every time then just left without a word. Gordon Ramsey was utterly charming, massively professional, fully prepared and rehearsed and made a point of thanking everyone personally at the end of the day.

I guess everyone plays a role on tv.

Bananacattoy · 10/05/2022 09:14

A certain celebrity vet I met through work. Very rude and shouty to staff and a creepy lech.

DevonSunsets · 10/05/2022 09:15

To the surprise of no one - Piers Morgan.

I was at work, we dealt routinely with very high net worth clients & Celebs (some were insanely wealthily) I had to say no to his Personal Assistant as what he was asking was outside of the rules we worked to. PM called me back and ranted for ages. He seemed to take particular pleasure in knowing I couldn't hang up on him and just had to listen to his nasty diatribe.

Then went above my head as he knew my bosses boss and tried to get me fired (we were all in the process of being made redundant anyway so PM was told a exaggerated truth in that I was 'being let go' as a sop) In the end the CEO gave him what he had wanted on the original call.

Boils my piss everytime I think about it as the request was totally unreasonable and i was perfectly in the right to say no.

I don't know, which unpleasant celebrity are you going to meet on your non-working days?

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 10/05/2022 09:17

Boy George was very miserable. Same with Russ Abbot. Robert Plant lovely and a bit of a joker. Jimmy Savile, looking back as I was around 14,loved himself and came across very cocky.

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 10/05/2022 09:19

Am I the only one who didn't think Carol Wright was that rude?! 😬Perhaps you needed to be there!
