Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

Apparently Stacey Solomon is a proper cow, not very nice to Joe Swash's son too.

I heard this from a reputable source as well

Steady on, or you'll incur the wrath of a PP who thinks becoming a millionaire is a somehow a tremendous skill, and that the perma-tanned, polo-shirt-'n'-sockless-loafers smirker 'Wrighty', is David Frost for millennials.

Giles Coren, both patronising and lecherous.

So it's not just an act then? What you see is what you get.

Shakeitshakeitbaby · 10/05/2022 07:45

John Virgo was a grumpy shit. All the others I have met were lovely.

Mike Reid (Frank Butcher) - hilarious
Sam Torrance - absolute gent
Bez - absolutely wasted, mad as a hatter but very friendly

GuyFawkesDay · 10/05/2022 07:46

I do find theses threads funny. I can totally understand why a celeb would be arsy trying to do their weekly shop and getting accosted when just going about normal person stuff. It's must be SO wearing after a bit and if you've had a crap day you can just get caught off guard.

The ones who are arsy to people at work or events I have an issue with. James Corden is a total arsehole, according to those I know in the industry. Warwick Davies however is lovely and very funny

Adam Woodyat I have met more than once around events his kids were at and he's been perfectly nice too, he lives near me.

AngelinaFibres · 10/05/2022 07:48

Mother of kit Harington. Actually uttered the words "Don't you know ow who I am ?".
Monty Don. I knew his former nanny. He is also very, very "Don't you know who I am?"

Haveatakeaway · 10/05/2022 07:52

Professor green and liamGallagher -rude
Harry styles and nick grimshaw really nice.

CockleburIck · 10/05/2022 07:54

I was going to say Nicolas Witchell. Tiny ginger prick

@MaChienEstUnDick That comment says a lot more about you than it does NW.

When I was a lot younger I met a few famous people, but not sure if they count as celebs nowadays? These ones are a few who really stood out for me, and I felt lucky to have met them (apart from D O'C)

Kenneth Williams (Carry On films) - absolutely gorgeous man and very kind
Bruce Forsyth - a total gentleman and very funny
Bob Monkhouse - very unassuming and a bit shy, but a riot to get drunk with
Des O'Connor - deeply unpleasant and rude
Malcolm McLaren (Sex Pistols) - very laid back and so helpful to me and some band mates about the music scene
Ian Drury (Blockheads) - probably my favourite, so sweet, intelligent and very generous with his time and advice

GuyFawkesDay · 10/05/2022 07:54

John Craven is like that too. I was gutted to find that out

On the other hand I hear many tales of how lovely most celebs are. They're just normal people doing a job that makes them recognisable. I have a close relative who sees celebs day to day (often at 5am) so you tend to get their worst then! I hear far more about how lovely and sweet they often are.

Many of the leads are very generous, buy huge coffee rounds for cast and crew, Christmas and Easter gifts etc.

I'm told the difficult ones are few, generally. James Corden, Maggie Smith amongst them.

Noideawhattowritehere · 10/05/2022 07:58

I know there have been a few negative encounters with James Martin upthread, but a few years ago my elderly Dad saw a familiar face walking his dogs, decided he must be a particular friend of mine and proceeded to chat away.

Bless him, James just went along with it and didn't embarrass him, even though he's very definitely not a vet 😂 or into the sport my friend and I do. Dad realised a few days later!

Badbadbunny · 10/05/2022 08:06

Jane McDonald (cruise singer) - absolutely full of herself and vile. Nothing at all like the friendly "woman next door" vibe she fakes on camera.

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 10/05/2022 08:14

Philip Schofield.

I had a massive crush on him when I was a child. He was at an event aimed at kids and I queued up in a big scrum of children for a signed photo from him. When I got to the front I asked if I could have one for my little brother and sister, who were too small to be allowed in the queue and he rudely said no, one each, without even looking at me.

Writing it down now it doesn't look that bad but at the time it shattered me. I was about 10 and so shy, it took a huge amount of effort to speak to him at all.

Ian Wright used to use a gym near my old office block and was often approached by people wanting autographs and pictures - he was always friendly and chatty. Seemed like a genuinely nice bloke.

I can second this, my DH absolutely loves him and bumped into him walking around London and he had a decent chat with him and let him get a selfie.

You made me laugh this morning!

Another vote for Bob Geldof. I worked in a clothes shop & he came in with his daughter. Very surly & ungrateful.

So no change there then. The Boomtown Rats first hit was Looking After No 1. That's been his life. Credit to him and Ian Ure for Live Aid but still. You never hear much about Ure?

ilovesushi · 10/05/2022 08:18

S-Club 7 were quite unpleasant. Met them through work. I wasn't bothered for myself but they were rude and off hand to a child who was recording a short scene with them.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 10/05/2022 08:18

My late gran met Jerome Flynn and they sang white cliffs of dover together. Gran wasn't even British lol.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 10/05/2022 08:19

oops sorry, that was a nice example. Don't have any bad examples.

SeagullBoss · 10/05/2022 08:28

Janet Street Porter was a total bitch to me. I worked for BT and she wanted an ex-directory phone number and thought she was important enough that the rules don’t apply to her

The opposite to what you've asked...Donny Osmond ....oh my what a genuinely lovely person. Was happy to chat for ages and take selfish.

The Osmonds always did come across as a very nice family.

James Corden
Before he went to America
Already fully up himself!

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 10/05/2022 08:39

Sting is lovely. Met him when I took a school trip to Shakespeare’s Globe and he was there doing a sound check for a gig. When he heard we were from the North East he asked the students for requests, which he played, we got our own concert as we were the only ones there. He even sent autographs of everyone playing in the gig to our school.

georgarina · 10/05/2022 08:39

George Lamb (Larry's son) was nice though.
Also met Alfie Allen during the time he was filming GOT. Nice and normal but clearly trying to trade off the name to pick up girls haha, introduced himself as "Alfie Allen." Texted for a bit.
