Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

Met the entire Rooney family and they were a delight. Mega well behaved kids, a total credit.

Wuwu84 · 10/05/2022 02:49

my mum carrying her shopping home in the rain, my mum stated that she had thought she recognised him from something, he stated she may of seen him around and laughed, when she what watching the Graham Norton show, and saw Patrick Stewart on his show and recognised him as the guy who gave her the lift. I was like are you sure, however he did live locally for many years

I'm not very fannish when I meet celebrities. I'm always just in my own head thinking 'oh they look like? Who is it again?' Then they have already gone by the time I realise. Celebs I have walked past looking at quizzically are Sarah Beeney- in a Leeds furniture store. She smiled and said hi as I peered at her. Imelda Staunton in a York shopping outlet. She smiled in a kind of amused way as I peered at her.

My daughter recently worked with Olivia Colman (before the Oscar ) and said that she was absolutely lovely to everyone .
I met Michael Barrymore briefly in Harvey Nicks and he was lovely to staff and people who came up to him .

milkyaqua · 10/05/2022 03:22

Nico.
John Cale.
Patti Smith.
All equally foul on separate occasions.

Nrft but can guess it's Andy Murrays mum. No idea why anyone likes either of them. Agonisingly monotone him and painfully middle class her.

Not exactly a celeb, but Gisela Stuart, the MP and House of Lords peer. I had a sales assistant job at Adams Childrenswear when I was 17 and doing my A-Levels. She was returning something and I politely asked if she could please fill in her name and address on a returns slip as per company policy. She kicked up a stink, saying things like ''OH REALLY, OH FOR GOODNESS SAKE, ARE YOU GOING TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHY I SHOULD HAVE TO DO THIS AND WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THIS INFORMATION??!''. I was too shy and too young to mumble anything other than how I was sorry but it's just company policy and everyone has to do it if they're returning something. I started blushing and getting tears in my eyes but she just kept on and on and smirking and rolling her eyes as if I was an absolute moron. She actually thought I was the writer/creator of the policy. And clearly, no more than a thick airhead for not being able to explain it precisely to her liking. Then she swept out of the shop like she was some kind of amazing star. After she left other customers were really nice and just said things like ''don't let it bother you, love'' and ''some people, honestly'' and my manager who'd been watching the whole thing from the sidelines sent me for an extended tea break.

Takealoadoff · 10/05/2022 04:25

George Clooney though it was a friend who met him. Couldn't be any more false.

@Sheilaroundthefountain - glad you said Mark Lamar was lovely. Two pp had said he was horrible.

So glad pp have said George Michael was lovely, I’d have been heartbroken if he hadn’t been.

Is anyone actually surprised that Jim Davidson was horrible?

The only (far from) famous person I can recall is Nadia from Big Brother. Rude woman, still desperately wants people to know who she is, all these years later. She hasn’t (yet) done the “don’t you know who I am?” but we like to pretend we don’t know who she is and don’t fawn over her like she desperately wants us to.

Family member says Bruce Forsyth was exceptionally horrible to them when they were doing work for him.

I don’t actually know he was horrible! Just my DH met him (through some work he was doing, not a fan) and said he was really pushy and rude. To be fair DH was telling him he couldn’t have/do something he wanted to do. So a situation where a lot of people DH works with are arsey. Maybe he’s nicer if everything’s going his way!

Morrissey always comes up on these threads!

I can’t think whose mum I’d recognise, maybe David beckham?!

I’ve met David Beckham’s mum. She’s lovely

Well, it wasn't. OP said who it was on the first page. The Murrays are lovely, unlike your comment.

Shmanmonet · 10/05/2022 05:06

Can we do most pleasant too?

And does Chris Whitty count as a celeb these days?

He is the most amazing person. Charming, considerate and respectful to everyone he encounters. Also surprisingly humble considering how talented he is.

😂😂
maybe you should have glanced at the 20 odd pages before or at least the first couple of pages.
It was Carol Wright, mum of Mark Wright (off of TOWIE).
Many people have found Judy Murray to be very pleasant apparently.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 10/05/2022 05:31

Mike Dean.
His poor wife is lovely, as are his DDs.

Cocopopsss · 10/05/2022 05:37

I would say that if you’ve met a celeb briefly when they are promoting something and asked for an autograph or selfie then they are likely to be very nice. It’s good PR isn’t it?

If you have caught them when they are “off duty” then they may well be less chatty but surely they are entitled to some privacy at those moments.

Maybe I’m considering this as an introvert who doesn’t want to chat a lot 😆.

i think you get a more realistic idea of them when working with them or for them i.e. waiter, customer service etc.

TheWitchCirce · 10/05/2022 05:37

Peter Bowles was unutterably charming. I left the brief (non sleazy) encounter feeling like the most beautiful/interesting woman on the planet.

GingerBeverage · 10/05/2022 05:51

Dom Joly. Smarmy.

Bristlenose · 10/05/2022 05:53

Charlotte Church when she was with that tall rugby player. Rude and kept trying to hide behind a lamppost. He looked embarrassed.

My daughter met Gordon Ramsay and he was a complete gent.

OMG that's just brought back a memory of asking for his autograph (Geoff Capes, not your DH) at a county fair type thing and he was so rude to me and my pal. I was only about 8!! Can't believe that's been buried in my subconscious for so long.

I was going to say Nicolas Witchell. Tiny ginger prick.

Eh? whats with with the ginger prick comment?

would you be using his physical characteristics against him like thatbif he were fat/black/disabled/Jewish?

RewildingAmbridge · 10/05/2022 06:11

@SW1amp when I was a student I waitressed for him and his family, he was surly, rude, barely any eye contact let alone please and thank you, his children absolutely trashed the place and there was no mention, apology or even attempt to pick up after them (they weren't babies). I made extra effort to entertain them (it was a very family focused restaurant known for this, I made them balloon animals they asked for, showed them a little trick etc all after asking the parents if this was ok) , he paid cash for their lunch and there was a few pence left in change, I took it back on the tip tray, he pressed it into my hand and said oh no you keep it you need it more than I do. Rude!
Later on one of our regulars was at the bar and complaining heavily that he'd supplied him and had his team fit a large amount of high quality marble for his new kitchen and he was now getting the run around for the bill.
Maybe the mistake I made was not fan girling and just treating him like any other customer, maybe his ego didn't like that.

Everyone has actually said how lovely she is. She was lovely when I met her too and made an effort to chat to my kids. Andy does a lot of unheralded good work supporting young tennis players (they talk about it, not him). He can't help how he talks but he's always very supportive of women and talks about his wife and kids in a very loving way. I'm not sure why you're picking on them.

Who's this?

tobee · 10/05/2022 06:19

Being a millionaire isn’t what it used to be of course…. 😃

Dale Winton; met him at a social event, absolute delight. Felt guilty I’d thought he was a bit naff. Utterly charming and made me feel like he cared I was having a good time.

Rudest - Nick “Crimewatch” Ross. I was at Wimbledon tennis and he was sat away from his wife by mistake and next to me instead. I offered to change seats for him politely and he reacted in a rude and dismissive way; as if I was asking him for a favour! Felt crap sitting next to him after that!

Btw if I’d had Al Pacino being even slightly nice to me I’d probably spontaneously combust!

Bobbins36 · 10/05/2022 06:24

Jess Glynne and her entourage were vile
