Based on this result, Sky News projecting a hung parliament if it was the GE.

Peregrina · 07/05/2022 09:52

The Cons can carry on being complacent.

West Oxfordshire is talking of forming a LibDem/Green/Labour Alliance. If that happens, there will only be one Tory Council in the whole of Oxfordshire. Even the one remaining Tory saw a close result.

SueSaid · 07/05/2022 10:20

The Lib Dems have done well haven't they! Feel a bit sorry for Forensic Starmer..even after a pandemic, a msm smear campaign against Johnson, cost of living crisis etc etc they didn't gain many. What will it take for them to have any kind of landslide?! Tories down 480. Wasn't it predicted to be at least 800? Even But Jezza Corbyn managed to keep Hull.

Starmer has done worse than But Jezza in 2018, so I read on Twitter so it must be true. He's got to go.

Maybe the Ginger Growler (her words, not mine) should take over.

Anywayy, at least Durham police are finally investigating the Friday night knee up. Although whether they issues fpns or not is irrelevant at this point from a public opinion point of view. We all know that if they issued them for cake, they should issue them for curry.

newnamethanks · 07/05/2022 10:25

At last! That took a while. How many LOST SEATS? Yes, that's right. Bye.

ClaudineClare · 07/05/2022 10:28

Yes, the Tory media are all spinning it that way too janiie. Try to at least give us something new instead of Daily Fail regurgitations.🥱

ClaudineClare · 07/05/2022 10:33

In your dreams, janiie.😹

DuncinToffee · 07/05/2022 10:36

Back to name calling, I see

Peregrina · 07/05/2022 10:40

Welcome back Janiie - we missed you yesterday. On Thursday the Mail was saying that a loss of 350 seats would be a disaster for the Tories. Now it is par for the course apparently.

Labour managing to put on 260 seats when most places being contested were already Labour held - obviously a total disaster.

West Oxfordshire had 11 Tories standing for election of which 7 failed to win. Not a problem in a council which has only been Tory since it was formed and now isn't. Nope of course not.

Cornettoninja · 07/05/2022 10:46

DuncinToffee · 07/05/2022 10:36

Back to name calling, I see

its not name calling if you’re self-declared above all that, merely quoting others who have conveniently done it for you to use as you see fit.

Don’t forget we’re in doublespeak territory these days:

‘I do my best to faithfully and accurately represent what I believe’

@JaniieJones Are you aware that the last time these seats were contested Jeremy Corbyn was leader of the Labour party and labour won fewer seats then, that they did this time?
That being so, can you explain to me in what way Starmer has done worse than Corbyn?

In England the Tories lost 25% of the seats they previously held. Scotland 23% and in Wales a whopping 44%, which I suppose is an absolute triumph for Boris because he is clearly so much less popular than Teresa May in the middle of Boris and others trying to stab her.

Notonthestairs · 07/05/2022 10:57

Steven Swinford reporting a minister saying 80% of Cons MPs want rid of Johnson - apparently they will wait a bit longer to move as they don't want to damage 2019 intake Confused

No idea why Cons think beergate is a winning strategy.
Either he's fined and will resign which throws shade on Johnson.
Or he's cleared and it neutralises that argument.

'Welcome back Janiie - we missed you yesterday'

I do apologise, I was very busy yesterday day. Nice to know I was missed though 😙.

This bloke sums it up (imo obviously)

But it's true. You know and I know that when indoor socialising was not allowed, then a curry for 30 was not officially allowed. Tbh as I've said rules at work were blurred but Starmer has been a massive hypocrite here. They can have a break for food but Johnson can't seems to be his forensic opinion.

Notonthestairs · 07/05/2022 11:02

"Wasn't it predicted to be at least 800?"

This wasn't a serious prediction. It was Cons HQ expectation management.

John Curtice - who I think knows more than most on here - set expectations around 200-300.

Where has the figure of 30 for curry come from? Made up figures again.

Thank you @JaniieJones for sharing that twit, it was most entertaining.

Notonthestairs · 07/05/2022 11:03

Not sure emailing 100 people to suggest a booze up in the garden is "taking a break from work".
Nor was Abbagate.

jgw1 · 07/05/2022 11:06

"Wasn't it predicted to be at least 800?"

If the Tories had done as well in England and Scotland as they did in Wales then they would indeed have lost over 800 seats.

I would suggest though that only someone with a very tenuous grasp of the reality on the demographics of many of those Tory seats would think that it were likely they would be lost.

ClaudineClare · 07/05/2022 11:06

I think that came from financial expert Nads Dorries who calculated £200 would buy curry for 30 people.

I've heard Frank Dobson eats a lot, so maybe her calculations are off?

I am laughing at your posts Janiie... I never knew 'forensic' was an insult. It obviously is!

482 seats lost... wrap yer head round that!

£6 per head? Hhhhmmm that barely covers a couple naans here!

So far we've had fpns for saying happy birthday in the office at work. Yes yes it was a year later but laws clearly stated no indoor boozing and mixing allowed. Now most would have been happy to accept Durham was a work place thing that was possibly taking the piss rule wise, however when Starmer has bleated on and on <and on and on and on> about 'the rules' he should have been whiter than white. What a prat. They need to get rid. I think Nandy or Cooper would do quite well, I mean the bar is so very low but still.

I think you are being a little unfair on @JaniieJones The Conservatives didn't lose a single seat in Northern Ireland.

I’d always imagined ND to be a poor host, this just reinforces that. Bet she doesn’t even order poppadoms.

Ah ok, so we all agree that if the police find wrong doing the leader should quit.

excellent, so potentially bye bye Starmer and definitely bye bye Boris - yes?

Glad you’ve managed to comprehend the situation at last. Well done you.
