Who's turned off their heating?

MayBeee · 22/04/2022 09:31

So the past two days have been sunny so we have turned off the central heating.
Today woke up to not so nice weather and it's currently 15 degrees indoors but due to costs are trying to go hard core ! Anyone else switched off yet ?

I'm tempted to put mine on today, it's so cold today.

Birdy78 · 27/04/2022 15:46

15 degrees here every day. No heating on as I need to be careful with money. I put a fleece over my knees if I’m really cold. Dreading bills coming in.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 27/04/2022 15:52

It’s 9 degrees round me. Mine is on,

ClaudineClare · 27/04/2022 16:11

It's cold here today, so I put it on for a couple of hours. God knows what we will do in winter though. There is no way we will be able to run it for more than 3 or fours hours per day. Leccy blankets and early nights!

Eeksteek · 27/04/2022 16:32

Off, here as our fix has just ended, and I’m not sure what our bills will look like yet, so playing it safe.

Usually heating and hot water is my line in the sand. I don’t care about a lot of things, going out, telly, music, cars, holidays. Not bothered. But if I can’t live at a comfortable-to-me-temperature (which is about 20°C, and that’s where my thermostat sits all year round!) and treat myself to hot bath, I’m pretty miserable. I don’t need a lot to be happy, but they’re the minimum and I’d consider selling a small portion of my soul to fund it!

pizzaand · 27/04/2022 16:36

Next door have turned theirs off as it's only 20 here today which is much better

comfortablyfrumpy · 27/04/2022 16:38

My oil is going to have to last. I have heating on for an hour or so in the evening and for about 30 mins in the morning but only if absolutely necessary. Other than that, it's off.

ButtockUp · 27/04/2022 16:43

We try not to put our heating on ( SE) but my husband really feels the cold these days and so it goes on just to take the chill off.

As to my hearing, it got turned off in my left ear years ago!

LaurieFairyCake · 27/04/2022 16:44

Been on for 4 hours so far - just turned it off for a bit

It was off for the last few days but it's cold now

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 27/04/2022 16:44

Mine’s back on, it’s flipping’ cold here, 11°☹️

ResentfulLemon · 27/04/2022 16:53

Ours has been off for a few weeks, we're normally first week of March but this year it felt too cold to do that so we waited a bit.

It won't go on now until October at the earliest.

We're not heating martyrs but I am loath to spend money on something that can be easily replaced by putting on socks and a hoodie.

Tigergirl37 · 27/04/2022 16:53

Yes blankets all the way - I can't afford it!

Unphased · 27/04/2022 16:56

Usually work on the clock changes, goes off when the clocks go forward and on when the clocks go back

Dodie66 · 27/04/2022 16:58

Ours has been off for a couple of weeks.only 27 in the lounge but I’ve got loads of crochet blankets to keep us warm. Supposed to get colder next week according to the BBC last night

Dodie66 · 27/04/2022 16:58

That’s should had said 17 not 27

LetitiaLeghorn · 27/04/2022 16:58

27°c and you need blankets!! How hot is it normally?!!! 🥵

LetitiaLeghorn · 27/04/2022 17:01

Oops. Cross posted. Sorry Dodie.

MajorCarolDanvers · 27/04/2022 17:02

My heating is back on as its dropped to 8C

TheFlis12345 · 27/04/2022 17:04

Ours has been off since the end of Feb. Neither of us really feel the cold, the only time we might get chilly is late evening in the sitting room as that’s the coldest room in the house, so we just light the fire in there if needed.

Tiree1965 · 27/04/2022 17:14

Ours has been off for a few weeks now

LoveSpringDaffs · 27/04/2022 17:17

I can't remember the last time I had it onA couple of weeks ago I think, but no hard & fast rules here, it feels cold again this evening. So might put it on when I get home. If I want to move around the house. I lived for long enough in a freezing house (no central heating when I bought it) and hate it being freezing if I want the kitchen/loo etc. but I'm
lucky, that for now, I have the choice.

Ohmygoshyoudontsay · 27/04/2022 17:19

I would never have the heat on in this sort of weather. We will run out of gas and oil even quicker than necessary if people heat their houses when there is no need. I've just been closing the windows at about 8pm.

AchillesPoirot · 27/04/2022 17:28

I click mine on if I need it. It's never on on a timer by this time of year. I have heated throws. And an oodie that I deploy first at this time of the year.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/04/2022 17:29

It's 11 degrees in London Confused

What 'sort of weather' does it need to be to be on ?
