@MaudOfTheMarches - that's good to know!
I will be going in June. 😁 After taking in the more famous sights!
I used to have a map of South America as a writing pad on my desk as a child... I have always fantasised about visiting this lake with the strange name...

seashaken · 16/04/2022 23:56

Steeple Bumpstead. It sounds like a made up place in a children's book.

LetitiaLeghorn · 16/04/2022 23:58

Timbuktu - not been
Kathmandu - have been (nothing like I expected sadly)
Zanzibar - not been

C25kBecky · 17/04/2022 00:07

@DorritLittle

Sandwich.
Sandwich is lovely, I nearly got married there.
ElaineMarieBenes · 17/04/2022 00:10

Vasco da Gama (Goa) - only I did visit on my first visit to India. This was possibly a mistake as it’s an industrial sea port!

Purplecatshopaholic · 17/04/2022 00:12

Bonkle (Scotland) - been a standing joke with me and my friends for years for some childish reason (and I have been there)

Cattenberg · 17/04/2022 00:14

Yes to Timbuktu and Westward Ho!

I also fancy Hell in Norway (apparently it does freeze over) and as I’ve been to Easter Island, I’d quite like to go to Christmas Island too (the one near Australia). I used to imagine the Azores as tropical islands with white sand beaches and was quite disappointed when I found out that they weren’t.

I’ve been to Mevagissey. It’s a nice Cornish fishing village, although there isn’t an awful lot to see there. In nearby Charlestown, you can sometimes see tall ships in the harbour.
