Do you think the queen is really poorly?

As in dying 😔. I know she is very old and fragile at 95 but I do wonder if she is trying to keep going until the Royal jubilee.

They are not bruises, they are discolourations from leaking veins- most elderly people have these.

Prettypussy · 21/04/2022 10:05

I don't think the queen is ill in the sense that she's suffering from a terminal illness such as cancer or anything, but she is 96 and becoming quite frail- ie, she probably has arthritis, a weakening heart, etc. which means she doesn't have the energy and stamina for public engagements and is also in some discomfort when standing and walking.

Believeitornot · 21/04/2022 10:27

Covid is a right fucker for making you exhausted. Not tired but energy sapping broken after minimal activity. That while being mid 90s isn’t a great combination.

No, but I doubt she will get back to managing what she used to do before she had Covid, simply due to her age. Prince Philip retired at 96 - it is probably just the right time for her to stop most/all of the travelling and appearances, other Royals can do that.

Blossomtoes · 21/04/2022 11:09

She was in terrific nick for her age until she was widowed, then she went downhill rapidly. Predictably, it was a body blow. She’s aged a lot, the weight loss is really dramatic.

Fuzzy303 · 21/04/2022 11:44

Unfortunately I think she's gone downhill since losing Philip, they were together so long. I truly believe that you can die of a broken heart

AlecTrevelyan006 · 05/05/2022 15:02

Yes

Yes she is - the newspapers have had the nod - it's why meghan and harry have come over

Nothing to do with the Jubilee then?

^This.
I also suspect she'd much rather allow Prince Charles have a bash while she watches on from her comfy chair at home with corgis, tea and biscuits.

(Maybe she's already read the speech and doesn't really fancy reciting it...)

garlicandsapphires · 09/05/2022 18:55

She seems to be ducking out of most things at the moment (tea party etc) Quite worrying.

Hospedia · 09/05/2022 19:10

All the ducking out doesn't mean she ill. She's very elderly, increasingly frail, and her partner of many decades is gone - essentially the only person left who both knew her when she was young and knew all the demands made on her. I'd say her heart probably just isn't in it any more.

PattyMelt · 09/05/2022 19:29

Bless her she's old and tired. We have people her age at work. They sleep all night then take multiple short naps in the armchair through the day. Asking her to do any of her usual engagements is cruel. Charles should be doing all the engagements now.

Candleabra · 09/05/2022 19:39

She’s had such good health for so long you forget how old she is. 96 and still working, it doesn’t seem right. Even Charles is well past retirement age now, so not exactly a spritely stand in.

Very sad that they’ve, apparently, not brought Lillibet to meet her.

If that’s the case, that’s incredibly mean spirited.
Harry was so say someone who got on well with his gran.
You’d think he’d want to introduce the great grandchild to her.
But what do we know.
Maybe they have brought the kids over.

Crazily some people think that Lilibet is a doll and doesn’t exist, Or is a hired child.

Very likely the case.
The Queen was riding last year- not many 94 yr olds do that.
She was very fit for decades.

It is going to be such a huge change for so many people. I have only known one monarch whereas my in-laws have known three iirc. I hope she is well and not in any pain.

BoredZelda · 09/05/2022 20:35

Yes she is - the newspapers have had the nod

This isn’t how it works.

I suspect this is pretty accurate.

Also 'episodic mobility problems' as quoted in the BBC article...she probably doesn't want to make public appearances if she's needing a wheelchair.

I suspect she'll officially hand over the reigns after the jubilee celebrations and is phasing Charles and William in.

Supersimkin2 · 09/05/2022 21:32

She’s already said via her office she’s retiring from public life soonish and going to live in Windsor.

EastYorksLass · 09/05/2022 21:46

Impossible to know but no-one should be expected to work at her age

RewildingAmbridge · 09/05/2022 21:49

I really hope she gets to retire and just do some things she wants, even if that's eating biscuits and watching coronation Street. It's a real shame she lost Philip before the end of her working life, they seemed to love each other very deeply and genuinely.

HisHX · 09/05/2022 22:00

Would we still get two Bank Holidays if the worst happened?
