Do you think the queen is really poorly?

As in dying 😔. I know she is very old and fragile at 95 but I do wonder if she is trying to keep going until the Royal jubilee.

The Queen has been told not to ride anymore or drink alcohol. I imagine she misses riding a lot, as well as walking with her dogs and having a tipple. Her husband is gone. It must be quite depressing for her. Especially when her son and grandson bring nothing but embarrassment and heartache.
How does her grandson embarrass her? How do you know she's embarrassed? Have you asked her?

Interesting that you think that a son who is an associate of a known child sex trafficking ring is on a par with a grandson who got married and moved abroad for the sake of his wife's sanity embarrassment-wise, though.

AnastasiaRomanov · 15/04/2022 17:47

No, I didn’t say on a par. I said they are both an embarrassment. You don’t think she finds his OW accusations an embarrassment? Seriously?
Or Finding Freedom? A lot of absolute bilge and navel gazing self congratulation.

I think you have no idea what she thinks. None of us do.

No, but does anyone think the Queen has welcomed what they’ve said and done?

SmellyOldOwls · 15/04/2022 18:24

@Hospedia

Harrybalways reminds me a bit of DH who also grew up in a dysfunctional family and was the after-thought child living in the shadow of golden sibling. He spent years rebelling against what they wanted, years trying to confirm to what they wanted, and then he met me and slowly realised that there was a third option where he didn't need to dance to their tune if he didn't want to. We still see some of his family but there are others we haven't spoken to in nearly ten years and it's been blissful, DH is much happier and his mental health is much better too.

I look forward to seeing you both on Oprah Grin

Who knows? Perhaps highlighting the racism in the RF has given her pause for thought, though. Let's hope so.

@Peregrina

No he couldn't be. You don't have two kings.

You could. They make their own rules up.

No. Monarchy is a word that comes from two Greek words. The mon- bit means sole. The archy bit refers to rule. Saying we have one monarch is actually a tautology as it's already there in the etymology of the word. If we moved over to having two rulers at a time, that would be a seismic change. The days when the monarch could simply dictate what happens in this country with no reference to Parliament ended a very long time ago, arguably when Charles I was executed at the end of the English Civil War, which was all about the Divine Right of Kings and their power relative to Parliament's. The monarchy lost that one, fortunately.

Ah she should be in her slippers watching Homes Under the Hammer, not having to parade around for folk a week before she turns 96

ArtVandalay · 15/04/2022 18:55

I am not a supporter of having a royal family. The only one of them that I slightly admire is Harry. He had the good wit to get the hell out.

This thread just reinforces what a bloody good move that was.

Peregrina · 15/04/2022 18:59

If we moved over to having two rulers at a time

As I recall, we had William and Mary at one time.

All of this, 100%.

That's a relief, at least she isn't watching Corrie in her slippers.

One must be getting bored to tears down at the Rovers every night.

Yes'm but that was resuit of the Glorious Revolution (not long after the Restoration) , and we're not that point now, are we?

Also, it was done by Parliament, not the monarch, and concerned the marriage of first cousins both with a claim to the throne.

It's an unrelated set of circumstances to a potential regency, and so dirsntnfirm any precedent.

She might watch Coassuc Corrie in the afternoons when there isn't any racing. But as it's up to the year 2000 new, you can already see the start of the slide into glib sensationalism, so I expect she'll be switching off soon.

AuntieStella · 15/04/2022 20:53

FFS

Classic Corrie

A580Hojas · 15/04/2022 21:04

Any 95/nearly 96 year old is in their twilight years. I hope she is at peace with everything given the awful couple of years she's just had.

Those saying this thread is distasteful are just being naive.

70 years ago it would've been chatter over the garden wall, and in the snug of the pub.

This is just the 2022 version.

Why would that have made it less distasteful?

No it isn’t. This is a public forum and we know how widely it’s read.

But I think it’s really distasteful to speculate on somebody’s death like this.

Would you be cool with someone posting on your local Facebook group, speculating on how soon your granny might die?

FuckeryOmbudsman · 15/04/2022 22:33

Chatter inn the pub is ephemeral stuff locally

This is global publication

I'm slightly concerned people still may not have really grasped the difference

Pallisers · 15/04/2022 22:36

Well it is for those of us who aren't UK citizens. We would be speculating on the death of a random elderly woman. But for those of you who are citizens of the UK isn't about wondering who will be your next monarch? head of your government? When? I could well see how you might be interested in that.
