Do you think the queen is really poorly?

As in dying 😔. I know she is very old and fragile at 95 but I do wonder if she is trying to keep going until the Royal jubilee.

@uffington

Apparently her bad back is due to a bowel issue. Not sure how serious a bowel issue though.
That's right, let's discuss and indeed speculate about HMQs intimate medical circumstances on MN, shall we. Obviously you have the inside track.

How inappropriate.

MissDefoe · 15/04/2022 05:31

Her doctors have told her to cut down on the public engagements. Quite right too.

londonrach · 15/04/2022 05:36

Yes sadly.

Poor woman. What other 95 year old is expected to still be working. The world won't fall apart if she puts her feet up and gets to stop worrying that she might take a tumble in front of hundreds of watching people.

I know some people hate the royal family (not a massive fan myself), but really it must be an awful job with no life choices available to you.

SpringLobelia · 15/04/2022 06:47

I think she is very elderly and very frail and like a PP I hope she has her feet up and is drinking Baileys.

SpringLobelia · 15/04/2022 06:47

(actually Baileys for breakfast sounds pretty good for a Bank holiday)

It used to be considered high treason to discuss a monarch's impending death, or to try and predict when it might happen.

I'm no royalist but speculating on when and how a 95 year old woman might die does seem a bit distasteful and crass, even if it isn't treason any more.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 15/04/2022 06:58

she is 95!
give her a break

EdithWeston · 15/04/2022 07:04

The Queen is a religious lady. As I understand it, Christian festivals such as Easter would be very important to her on a personal level and it worries me greatly that she won't be attending this year,

She's not going to sit through the public services

That's not the same as saying she won't be making her Easter Duty, as there are private chapels and all sorts of prelates available to her to conduct a private service for her wherever she is.

Dubonnet and gin is her tipple though, not Baileys

It's suggestive of the early stags of Operation London Bridge getting underway and the private doctor briefing family, Government and selected media outlets. Wouldn't surprise me if there is big news over the Easter Bank Holiday

That's not how London Bridge would work - lots of people know about its workings (military, newsrooms etc because they are incioved in aspects of the planning and the regular reviews) and it begins only on death, and and announcement is made promptly, there is very little time for family only, as all the formal phone calls politician here and in to dependent territories need to be done, and newsrooms alerted with the embargo time - its an hour or so?

That's the time when you might notice pre-changes - as broadcasters will start to chose more subdued playlists - no one wants the 'we break into the programme ...' announcement to be in the middle of Mr Blobby

But they really won't be keeping her on ice.

If she was seriously ill in a life threatening way, then I think the Palace would confirm illness. As they haven't, there may be a growing list of issues, which might be normal ageing or medical condition, but which are not any immediate threat

PurpleFlower1983 · 15/04/2022 07:17

Covid will have knocked her for six, she will be rightly taking it easy. I really hope she makes the jubilee, what an achievement. I don’t think the world will see another monarch like her.

Tilltheend99 · 15/04/2022 07:19

Yes. Harry and Meghan visiting is the giveaway as he was literally suing the gov over security before he was going to set foot here again.

EdithWeston · 15/04/2022 07:22

I work in events and all the big UK sporting events and festivals (this year) have taken out contingency insurance should HRH pass away during the event. Similar to the pandemic insurance Wimbledon had cover for in 2020.

She's HM not HRH

Also, event have been carrying thus sort of insurance for decades. It was pretty standard part of events coverage all along. And we kind of forget it was there, but it became more expensive over the years, and has been a very expensive component of cover in the last decade.

It's confirmation bias to think this means that death is imminent. It's simply because all insurance costs increase when the person your insurance is about is elderly.

Mumdiva99 · 15/04/2022 07:22

@SparkleSpangle

I think *@MVision* might be correct. Harry and Meagan are visiting the queen now despite saying on many occasions they wouldn't come to the uk.

I think this is Harry saying goodbye.

Well thank goodness for once he is making the right choice. I'm glad he's been to see her, for her sake.

Yes. Harry and Meghan visiting is the giveaway as he was literally suing the gov over security before he was going to set foot here again.
He did say he would if necessary cough up for his own security so I guess it's not inconsistent. He could just add the cost to the claim.
Porcupineintherough · 15/04/2022 07:26

@knittingaddict yes- except that she didnt and doesnt have to do it. With great wealth comes choices.

VeganGod · 15/04/2022 07:30

Many found how she supported her sicko son distasteful and crass. She still did it.

ememem84 · 15/04/2022 07:31

@Blimecory

Surely you wouldn't be able to mention anything though? Due to your job and confidentiality?

It’s no secret to say that obituaries are reviewed regularly.

I thought this. How, unless things are reviewed regularly, would the need outlets get things out straight away.
WinnieTheW0rm · 15/04/2022 07:32

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

Think that was the Queen Mum winnie

I really don’t know.

But that is what is in my fridge so I had a guess…

Queen as well!

2 parts Dubonbet to one part gin

I think it was crass and distasteful, too. As I said, I'm no royalist and firmly believe the monarchy should die with HM.

Doesn't mean that feverishly speculating over the impending (or not) death of a 95 year old woman isn't crass and distasteful also.

Parker231 · 15/04/2022 07:35

Some of these posts are ridiculous - no one here knows if she is ill, obituary is being updated, doctors briefing family etc.

She’s an old lady not attending a public event - not unusual.
