Asylum seekers to the UK sent to Rwanda

What do you think about the governments plan to send all asylum seekers that come to the UK to Rwanda to be processed. I think this is inhumane. A lot of them have come from places like Syria, Iran etc and travelled across the channel with all the associated risks only to be sent 6000 mile to be processed. What about the cost to do this? I think it’s a big mistake

So we’re choosing to ignore the Ukrainian refugees who aren’t women or children? We’re also pretending that non-white refugees aren’t refugees, despite over 70% being granted refugee status.

Woah! So because some agree with taking action to control population makes us 'racist' ? Time to stop playing that card and face the truths that if we carry on seemingly 'doing good' we will be denying our own children and grandchildren the opportunities we worked so hard to create....
You were not named so I am not sure why you are assuming the racist comment was about you?

It is not a 'card' it is a reality that around 25% of the UK population are genuinely racist, rather than just ignorant or mildly prejudiced.

This thread has a lot of racist comments and this policy is deliberately designed to appeal to voters who are racist. It is not an accident.

The fact is your ignorance and the fact you are describing the situation using falsehoods makes people perceive you to be racist.

They are not 'illegal asylum seekers' they are asylum seekers. Your choice to use the prefis 'illegal' makes me perceive you as racist.

You do realise an illegal asylum seeker doesn’t actually exist.

So you think the refugees fleeing war in Chad, Nigeria, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan etc aren’t fleeing a war?

So after discovering illegal asylum seekers don’t exist I see you have invented another category 😂

I would not send them to Rwanda, or any other country. I would want them to receive assistance that included safe housing, food, an education and a timely review of their case. I would also like them to have the same access to services/schemes that white refugees have.

What does the word 'unauthorised' mean?

No asylum seeker is 'unauthorised'. You have made up a phrase. Making up phrases like this to divide refugees into the ones you like and the ones you don't makes me perceive you as racist.

If you don't want to be perceived as racist, try to actually engage with the legal and practical facts of the global situation.

There is no such thing as an illegal asylum seeker. The method of arrival does not make you illegal under the Refugee Convention. Until their case is determined, their status is that of seeking asylum. And 75% of people claiming asylum here are granted it. The channel crossing route, run by people traffickers, is a result of it being virtually impossible to claim asylum here outside of the UK. And as for numbers, Poland has taken in over 2 million Ukrainian refugees. Turkey, millions from destabilised Middle Eastern countries. We take a tiny number.
Protest all you like about not being racist, but uncritically regurgitating the government misinformation here does strongly suggest otherwise.

People who oversimplify are either not very educated or trying to pull the wool over other peoples eyes.

What happened economically when Germany took in a million migrants?

What is happening to the UK labour market currently?

Do you think we have the required number of young people here to fill jobs?

If we were only trying to be practical not humanitarian, we would be prirotising migrants of working age not children! Children are useless at contributing economically and use the most services.

So presumably you do not want the refugess from Ukraine to come?

They are terms used by those politicans for negative reasons and you are using them.

Please explain to me what is the difference between an 'unauthorised asylum seeker' and a refugee, and why you call someone from Syria the former and someone from Ukraine the latter?
