@littledrummergirl

Listening to the debate is making me so cross. I think Johnson will find that it's the Ukrainians who are leading the fight against Putin. Yet another fucking lie!
Yes without his speech in front of him to read we are back to his world leading lines. He almost redeemed his narrative in his speech.

I thought the comment about being Ukraine's biggest Ally and Putins enemy number one was genius.

littledrummergirl · 19/04/2022 17:37

They just roll of his tongue as if he actually believes them to be true.
How self deluded is it possible for someone to be?

And how tone deaf is the mp who just asked about steel? What has our parliament turned into?

It's a disgrace.

I will be writing to my conservative MP again this evening and I suspect she will ignore me again. Sums up how the mps feel about the electorate.

ilovesooty · 19/04/2022 17:38

At least Mark Harper said it as it is.

Fulmine · 19/04/2022 17:39

@ilovesooty

"I didn't realise it was a party. That was my mistake. Now back to Ukraine."

He's disgusting.

He and JJ have obviously been at the same meetings. The trouble is, he knows perfectly well that the issue was not whether he knew it was a party, he would have had to be blind and deaf not to realise it was an unlawful gathering.
itsgettingweird · 19/04/2022 17:40

Yes "he's not worthy of the great office he holds"
ilovesooty · 19/04/2022 17:40

"The House will decide"

Yes and you'll make sure most of your MPs fall into line or don't attend.

Fulmine · 19/04/2022 17:42

Something tells me the prospect of Johnson as enemy no. 1 isn't making Putin quake in his boots.

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2022 17:43

Oh, here's Yasin. If I live 3/4 miles away he'd be my MP. Instead I get Dorries.

I interpreted it as Putin hates Britain because of what they are giving Ukraine and then he said something about how at the same time we are playing into Russias hands with Johnson's actions.
littledrummergirl · 19/04/2022 17:44

Jeffrey Clifton Brown is an mp down the road from me. One of his staff once kicked off in the supermarket I worked in because someone had moved a block of cheese and she wanted it at the cheaper price.

She was misquoting sale of goods act at me and even threw out " I work for said mp and I'm sure he'll have something to say about this".

I don't have much faith in his judgement either.

SueSaid · 19/04/2022 17:45

What was Starmer going on about?! BJ wasn't visiting dying relatives, he wasn't attending massive funerals when everyone else only had 10 mourners. Comparing any of this to that is ridiculous and irrelevant.

Compare it to the tiktok nhs staff instead. Should they have fpns? No, obviously not.

Poor Starmer getting told off for saying 'dishonest'.

BJ always comes across as very reasonable and calm despite the goady, rather desperate sneers from the opposite benches.

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2022 17:48

It's all in the perception janiie. He comes across as a bumbling buffoon to me.

duckie83 · 19/04/2022 17:49

Wes Streeting was very good on PM Radio 4 just now.

littledrummergirl · 19/04/2022 17:51

I think you are watching a different debate to me Janiiejones.
He's coming across as cocky, uncaring and incompetent.

Is Edward Leigh on glue?
It appears its now OK to do whatever the fuck you like without consequence as long as you say sorry.

Oops, sorry I stabbed him and he died. Its all ok now, don't worry, you've said sorry.

What a crock of shit.

itsgettingweird · 19/04/2022 17:51

Kier brilliantly pointed out that people would have been happy for just 9 minutes with loved ones. 9 minutes of a funeral and maybe 30 people.

But they couldn't. It was against the rules.

You couldn't mix with your family you lived with outside of your home due to covid. But you could mix with people you didn't work with inside the cabinet office apparently.

It's making me sick. There's no defence to breaking the law. At least Boris has accepted this bit.

Cornettoninja · 19/04/2022 17:54

Surely the UK should be the Ukraines greatest ally not Boris? Doesn’t he get enough accolades as figurehead without the narrative talking like he’s solely responsible for supporting the Ukraine? Conveniently overlooks that the help offered by the actual citizens of the UK has been obfuscated by this government.

The ‘we had a gathering before an intense covid meeting’ was a new one. Just so we remember that poor old Boris has a very difficult job. He mustn’t have realised that prime minister was a hard job when he ran for office. Hmm

It remains to be seen whether the public appeals to the backbenchers will impress that now the focus has turned its attention to them. Boris isn’t going (though I live in hope) so it will depend how spooked they are by the attention turning on them.

Notonthestairs · 19/04/2022 17:54

Keep scrabbling for excuses Janii.

He broke legislation that he introduced, the legislation that he went on tv (nightly) to tell us to abide by. "Look her in the eyes". #belikeJosephine. 🙄 He then mislead the house, broke the Ministerial Code he had signed and tried to cover it up.

Raise your standards.

Notonthestairs · 19/04/2022 18:00

Of course if the Con Party were absolutely certain of Johnson's position they'd allow a free vote on Thursday.

The fact that they have to whip or advise MPs to miss it is very telling.

Absolutely.

I wish I knew who it was but loved the man that stood up and said those who have known Boris for a long time are use to his rescuing him from situations and use to him getting himself into them. He did say that doesn't mean they don't like him but pointed out that there comes a time it needs to be too much and too many time (paraphrased)

littledrummergirl · 19/04/2022 18:06

There have been some really good points made which have gone straight over his head.
The speaker overstepped somewhat as well.

SueSaid · 19/04/2022 18:06

'I think you are watching a different debate to me Janiiejones. He's coming across as cocky, uncaring and incompetent.'

Cocky? I don't see that at all.

Rather someone with much more important things to be dealing with yet patiently and calmly answering repetitive questions. Don't they listen to the previous answers?

'Kier brilliantly pointed out that people would have been happy for just 9 minutes with loved ones. 9 minutes of a funeral and maybe 30 people.'

Brilliantly? Completely different scenarios. Why do people keep bringing up sad deaths and funerals.

Workplace tiktoks! doesn't anyone remember them?! People worked together in groups. Some social interaction occurred. This isn't about the sad deaths.

Fulmine · 19/04/2022 18:10

What was Starmer going on about?! BJ wasn't visiting dying relatives, he wasn't attending massive funerals when everyone else only had 10 mourners. Comparing any of this to that is ridiculous and irrelevant.

You know perfectly well that it is highly relevant, @JaniieJones, and why. Do stop being disingenuous, just for once.

Cornettoninja · 19/04/2022 18:11

I thought those sitting by Boris on the front bench looked distinctly uncomfortable, Priti looked like she was poised to run at some points.

Whether that discomfort was due to indignation or humility I couldn’t say. Time will tell.

Fulmine · 19/04/2022 18:13

Rather someone with much more important things to be dealing with yet patiently and calmly answering repetitive questions. Don't they listen to the previous answers?

More important than lying to Parliament? More important than serious constitutional offences? More important than breaking laws his government promulgated and which he kept exhorting the rest of us to comply with in order to save lives? Really?

littledrummergirl · 19/04/2022 18:14

It's exactly about those sad deaths. Those people died alone, without loved ones beside them leaving those left behind to carry the guilt of not being there.

He didn't give a stuff at the time, it was business as usual as far as he was concerned, parties all the way. No compassion for the people he is supposed to represent.
He then lied about it to parliament and is only sorry he got caught.

Anyone who tries to defend this in my opinion is very very sick in the head or incredibly stupid.
