As for vaccines - no, but by being slack with public health measures, and only relying on the vaccine, they have been complacent

..which has led to large numbers of sick, even bigger waits at AE and for operations inc treatments for cancer - 200,000 people waited longer than the target 2 weeks to see a consultant - but apparently, according to you, the NHS isn't overwhelmed.

Basic infection control shouldn't have been removed, i.e masks and Sd.

I'd like to see the whole lot of this useless govt fined for incompetence.

Roussette · 16/04/2022 07:22

Yes and let's not forget Raab who took himself for a family holiday in Egypt or somewhere whilst Afghan allies to us were desperately trying to escape the country

I must look up the timing on that in the context of the 18 parties

Peregrina · 16/04/2022 07:24

I'd like to see a fair few of them in prison. Then they would start whining for one of those lefty lawyers to help get them off.

Will they send Afghan's fleeing to Rwanda, or will a conscience stir some where for any of them.

They'll try, wrong colour skin.

@JaniieJones

'But Vaccine roll out (which is why Covid is absolutely rampant now.) But don't you know there is a war on, (well no, I didn't know that Russia had declared war on us/we had declared war on Russia.)'

You think covid is rampant because of vaccines? It is rampant because we've had a pandemic. Hospitalisations and deaths haven't surged because of vaccines though.

We are heavily involved in supporting Ukraine. That is where focus should be not who dared say happy birthday at work.

@JaniieJones please can you share a link (perhaps @Clavinova could help) to where in any of the daily briefings the Prime Minister or other Ministers said it was perfectly fine to have cake and sing happy birthday with those one was already spending time with, eg at work, school or whatever.
jgw1 · 16/04/2022 08:37

Plus BJ denied birthday parties to children didn't he? that on public record.

Incorrect. We are just waiting for our copy and paste friend to provide a link to the Downing Street briefing where it was made clear it was fine to socialise with those one was already spending time with, eg work colleagues, school mates, for a limited and specific time if it was someone's birthday.

Peregrina · 16/04/2022 08:42

Perhaps they could also cut and paste the bit where we were told there would be war in Ukraine in two year's time, so that they didn't have time to pay attention to covid.

Fulmine · 16/04/2022 08:47

We can all focus on two things at once. In this case, Ukraine plus a Prime Minister who needs to resign for lying repeatedly to Parliament and the country.

If the Conservative party cannot produce one alternative person who can make decisions about supporting Ukraine, the whole lot should be resigning now so we can get a competent government in place.

Benjispruce4 · 16/04/2022 08:49

Yes there is a war in Europe so we need a PM that is focussed on Britain and NATO and not on covering his tracks.

Limited and specific and where it wasn't feasibly possible to distance or stay away.
itsgettingweird · 16/04/2022 09:01

Reasonably possible.

Even my phone is so fed up if those words it's changing them WinkGrin

CakeAmbushAlert · 16/04/2022 09:18

@Alexandra2001 I'd like to see the whole lot of this useless govt fined for incompetence.

I’m still incredulous that Gavin Williamson just got a knighthood!Let’s recall his time as minister for education:
he off mutant algorithm infamy
cherry picking school years for return, leaving some with no school time at all March 20-Sept 20
failure to supply emergency tech to those in most need
presided over threatening Greenwich council with court when they tried to move to remote learning in Covid crisis point in Dec 2020,
Reopening schools for a single day in Jan21 when lockdown was called again that night
No proper measures to protect school staff from Covid spread other than opening windows (in rooms that had them!)
DfE sending missives to schools about implementing testing at the start of terms (sensible measure) but timing it so that school staff had to work through holidays to implement
Not backing the extension of free school meals to children during the holidays in the pandemic

If he gets a knighthood with that level of incompetence!

CakeAmbushAlert · 16/04/2022 09:24

A reminder of what the PM is on record telling a little girl about cancelling birthday parties in the first lockdown;

CakeAmbushAlert · 16/04/2022 09:50

@lightisnotwhite Nit pick over every detail like it makes you feel clever. Bigger picture…he’s resigns now and the country is screwed. Absolutely it will bounce back but we have a lot going on right now and everyone in credible opposition is talking the country down

Ha ha you are funny. Help us O be one Johnson you are our only hope!

Yes with his back history of reckless behaviour, u-turns, fridge dwelling when he wants to avoid questions & poor decision making (that is when you actually can actually decipher what he’s bumbling on about.) The man can’t even operate an umbrella for goodness sake!

cakeorwine · 16/04/2022 09:52

The Government messaging in Dec 2020

"Hi Mick, although there are exemptions for work purposes, you must not have a work Christmas lunch or party, where that is a primarily social activity and is not otherwise permitted by the rules in your tier. You can find more information here:"

So..did no one at Number 10 think that a 30 minute social gathering might be a bad idea?

I wonder if the person who did the Twitter and social media attended the social gathering?

I can't get my head around the war in Ukraine be touted as the reason to keep him in position. Surely it's the very reason he needs to go. At a time like this trust in the PM is vital and nobody can trust him, if they do they are fools.

Roussette · 16/04/2022 10:30

I can't get over people saying he is THE ONLY ONE capable of leading us, it's laughable!
Much as you don't know respect his inner circle, we know who they are, there ARE decent conservatives with more moral fibre and more trustworthy than him. The party don't think much of themselves do they, if BJ to them is the only capable one

cakeorwine · 16/04/2022 10:31

Maybe Tory Ministers should be asked if they think Johnson is the only Tory MP capable of leading the Government?

Agree.

There's over 300 Rory MPs.

We hear frequently about maybe 10-15.

That leaves a lot of Tory MPs who can be decent. Who could do a better job.

People just need to realise they aren't the ones we hear about daily as these aren't the ones in the media excusing the excuse of a leader we currently have.

Notonthestairs · 16/04/2022 10:41

The idea that the "country is screwed if he resigns" is talking the country down.

The character and self belief of this country doesn't depend on Johnson remaining in office. Shame on you for suggesting otherwise.

Notonthestairs · 16/04/2022 10:43

"there ARE decent conservatives with more moral fibre and more trustworthy than him. "

Agree.

Notonthestairs · 16/04/2022 10:56

So they definitely know more FPNs are coming and are trying out defences.

The No10 defence if more fines come:
“If you’re caught speeding at 35mph four times, that doesn’t mean that you were speeding at 140mph. It doesn’t mean that you really endangered life because the cumulative effect of all your speeding in 30mph zones amounts to 140pmh, does it?” - from Paul Waugh on Twitter.

And the Secret Barrister's response -

"If you are caught speeding 4 times in 3 years, the law operates to automatically disqualify you from driving, precisely because your cumulative conduct represents a danger to the public".

This is what we can expect when he 'sets the record straight' in parliament next week.
Another load of bullshit then

DuncinToffee · 16/04/2022 11:47

From lawmaker to law breaker but never mind, he sometimes obeys the law.

Putin is laughing at us.
