@itsgettingweird I thought last weeks ep of Not Going Out was really poor. But the week befores with Anna and the text was good. But ive been spoilt by watching every ep of 2 point 4 Children which finally got put on BBC I Player several weeks back.

See I didn't like the first one and found the text one odd.

I thought last weeks was an improvement!

My favourite ever episode as them married though is the one where they go on holiday to the New Forest.

Blossomtoes · 15/04/2022 20:41

@Clavinova

I do hope clav is on shift all evening

Just popped in - bad luck.

Sorry Clav,I didn’t realise you were coming. I’d have left the copy and paste for you if I’d known. I wasn’t trying to muscle in on your territory.
mmmmmmghturep · 15/04/2022 20:45

Ooh i dont think ive seen that one.

I do wonder what the size of meetings held in Number 10 was?

Did they try to reduce the number of face to face meetings?
Did they try to minimise the number of people at such meetings?

I get that people did need to work together - but how did they work that?

We had meetings - but people sat far apart. to reduce risk. And there were limited people at the meetings

It would never have occured to us to have a lot of people come together

Exactly.

What don't they use that new unused press briefing room costing millions
It looks very spacious I deed

Cramming together for birthday boy in that tiny room was a spreader event. And illegal of course

itsgettingweird · 15/04/2022 22:11

HIGNFY didn't disappoint this evening Grin

jgw1 · 15/04/2022 22:31

Ok, so the opening round of oh but... was quite entertaining.
Would anyone like to predict the date of the next fine and what the sorry excuse will be?

Fulmine · 15/04/2022 23:08

The Mail reported that 'people kept popping in' - so not necessarily 30 people in the room at the same time.

I suspect the Mail realises full well that that only makes it worse. Hilarious that you fell for it, @Clavinova.

This is apparently going to be the leaving do, where Johnson allegedly spent quite a long time. The excuse is going to have to be seriously inventive, as he can hardly pretend he stumbled across it accidentally, and he certainly can't claim that he thought it was essential for work purposes, which is the relevant criterion. I think he may have to resort to "Jeremy Corbyn spiked my drink, I had no clue what was going on".
BringBackCoffeeCreams · 15/04/2022 23:18

The excuse will be a whole lot of drivel about needing to thank people for working so hard saving lives and rolling out the vaccine.

littledrummergirl · 16/04/2022 00:08

I'm a touch confused.
We can't possibly tell Johnson he's a know and to fuck of and take his lack of morals with him because of reasons. The invasion of Ukraine and the genocide there be used as his sickening current excuse, although France can hold an election and they are closer than us.

But everyone who is supposed to be running the country or holding the Fort can bugger off on holiday because ????

If we can manage to run a country without leadership now, we can run it while the conservatives can find someone better. I'm sure I can find a slug at the bottom of the garden if needed.

Goodness.

We had a full on pandemic. No one apart from Cummings did anything that would unnecessarily spread Covid dud they. Cummings is a knob.

BJ didn’t break the rules when his mum got ill and died. He didn’t break the rules getting married. BJ got Covid which as a lot of people will tell you is bloody hard work getting over. He’s never made anything of the fact that he might be feeling a bit shit after it like half of MN do.

Nit pick over every detail like it makes you feel clever. Bigger picture…he’s resigns now and the country is screwed. Absolutely it will bounce back but we have a lot going on right now and everyone in credible opposition is talking the country down.

jgw1 · 16/04/2022 00:13

You are correct that when Boris resigns the country is screwed @lightisnotwhite due to his actions.

Blossomtoes · 16/04/2022 00:18

The country’s screwed. It makes no difference whether Johnson stays or goes.

jgw1 · 16/04/2022 00:21

@Blossomtoes

He may as well go then as his work is done.
Blossomtoes · 16/04/2022 00:26

I’d prefer him to stay and make the Tories unelectable for a generation.

Rachelw84 · 16/04/2022 00:34

@lightisnotwhite Edwina Currie is that you?

But honestly, how anyone can support Boris Johnson after these actions is beyond me.

He’s cheated on partners, abandoned children, been sacked twice, arranged for journalists to get beaten up, he’s racist, xenophobic, he lies with amazing ease and yet still gullible people line up to back him. I despair.

He needs to resign.

Peregrina · 16/04/2022 06:38

Ah but Corbyn, But Vaccine roll out (which is why Covid is absolutely rampant now.) But don't you know there is a war on, (well no, I didn't know that Russia had declared war on us/we had declared war on Russia.)

He resigns now, and some of the more sensible ones in the Tory party, the ones who won't serve under him, can take over. The thought of Johnson, Raab, Patel, Rees-Mogg, Dorries, and Gove all being booted out to the back benches, would only improve things.

SueSaid · 16/04/2022 06:46

'But Vaccine roll out (which is why Covid is absolutely rampant now.) But don't you know there is a war on, (well no, I didn't know that Russia had declared war on us/we had declared war on Russia.)'

You think covid is rampant because of vaccines? It is rampant because we've had a pandemic. Hospitalisations and deaths haven't surged because of vaccines though.

We are heavily involved in supporting Ukraine. That is where focus should be not who dared say happy birthday at work.

Billandben444 · 16/04/2022 06:48

This ⬆️

Roussette · 16/04/2022 06:59

So he shouldn't be making anything of having covid. He has his deputy to step in if needed, and he was busy shaking hands in a carefree way prior to it.
Please don't let's start a sympathy drive for him having had what the majority of the population have had with not the top notch care he got.

Laughing at 30 in a room or popping in and out of a room, with cake, drink, M and S snacks, has now been degraded to 'who dared say happy birthday to him'. Isn't that's what zoom is for?

Alexandra2001 · 16/04/2022 07:07

Ah so as we have basically stood by and let Russia rape and kill its way across large parts of Ukraine, bJ should get a free pass for law breaking?

If the focus is now Ukraine, why can't the UK take more than a few '000s refugees out of many millions? No other country insists on asking 3 year olds their work record, wont treat a family as a single application and is doing ALL it can to limit UKR refugees coming here.... oh and if they did take a dingy across they get shipped to Rwanda.....

Plus BJ denied birthday parties to children didn't he? that on public record.

Peregrina · 16/04/2022 07:10

Remind me when Russia invaded Ukraine. Remind yourself about their previous history in the Crimea - fairly clear evidence of how much attention was being paid to foreign affairs. Remind me too about last summer's withdrawal from Afghanistan whilst you are about it. Meanwhile Johnson and cronies were dickering about having parties/gatherings/whatever and happily indulging Putin and his oligarchs. They weren't paying any attention to what was happening in the rest of the world.

As for vaccines - no, but by being slack with public health measures, and only relying on the vaccine, they have been complacent.
