@fairylightsandwaxmelts I've seen a checkout assistant in my local Tesco with knuckle tattoos. There might be different rules for different supermarkets.
Yes, I didn't work for Tesco and it was a while ago now, so the rules could have changed.

It's a valid point though - many workplaces don't allow visible tattoos (that can't be covered with a shirt/jumper/trousers).

@latriciamcneal it's because of how visible it is. It's the same with neck and face tattoos.

Yes, you're right. I'd like to think OP would have the common sense to check with her workplace first though! I got my hand tattoos 2 years ago, asked my boss first and they were fine with it as my job isn't customer facing.

I'm more thinking of the future in case she changes jobs and it causes her issues.

I worked retail for over a decade and most places said "no" to visible tattoos of any kind, so it could cause a problem if she needed a new job further down the line.

@RicherThanYew

Just don't be a massive bell end and get a large tattoo on the top part of your foot Op, it's just thin skin covering bone and IT FRIGGING HURTS. I've got 14 altogether but I would never ever get one on my foot again. I have a job as a senior manager in the care industry and nobody gives a flying fart what's on my body btw, autonomy is big in this sector though.
It's all subjective I imagine. I have both feet tattooed and that didn't bother me. The inside of the top of my arm stung a bit though 😂
