Random things that were big in the '90s.

I'm trying to make up a quiz for a friend's birthday based on things that were popular in the '90s, plus I was just having fun reminiscing with another friend. So I wondered, what random and lesser known things do you remember being popular back then?

Riverdance is one I remember. That was so huge back then and I was obsessed with it and Michael Flatley. I remember watching Eurovision live when they had Michael Flatley and Jean Butler perform and being blown away by it.

Loving this thread totally.
Yes to long jeans that soaked puddle water up. I remember some of them had embroidered flowers or patterns on and stuck on jewels.

The curtain hairstyle all the lads at school seemed to have.

I also remember scraping my hair back in a very high ponytail with gel and loads of hairspray and leaving two strands down at the front. Hideous but I thought I looked great

BertieBotts · 08/04/2022 22:37

@StanleyTheCrane

Also does anyone remember these?

I know them as telephone bugs. I'm not sure what their actual name is but I felt like they were everywhere in the late '80s/early '90s.

I had completely forgotten these existed but they definitely were! I had one stuck to my bed. The name telephone bugs is familiar but I wonder why they were called that.
MidnightMeltdown · 08/04/2022 22:37

Oooh, also remember big glittery hair scrunches and 'All that she wants' by Ace of Base that I would play on repeat.

Ah yes, I remember sporting this look in the 90s, along with my dummy necklace, shag bangs, kickers shoes and silver bomber jacket 😂
