Confused since Friday I’ve felt very unwell, tested negative and it seems like half my friends have some weird flu/cold. Is it just us? Grin

No, there's a pretty nasty lurgy going about that isn't covid and a really weird one that doesn't make you feel I'll but gives a really tight chest Hmm also not covid. Personally being cooped up in lockdowns did our immune systems no favours really. Even if it was for the greater good.

MTCV · 05/04/2022 11:09

Yep, same here. I haven't been so ill for a very long time. Three and a half weeks on, feel like I have a constant tightness in my chest and a feather in my throat. Coughing has not been good for the prolapse situation. Don't feel like my lungs are full of liquid any more but constantly exhausted and wiped out by any exercise. Tedious. All tests were negative so god only knows what it is.

sconenotscon · 05/04/2022 11:11

Not just you. Me and my family all had a terrible cold, covid symptoms, all tested negative and took a good 3 weeks to shift!

@sconenotscon Sad 3 weeks? Like it’s so awful, I feel sick when I drink water. And my diet plan has gone out the window

Could it be that it is covid? But you are not testing positive on LFTs?

I was listening to the radio the other day and the CMO (Scotland) said that it's so prevalent at the moment that even if you test negative, if you wake up with covid like symptoms then probably wise to presume it is covid. Seemed crazy but there it was.

We had covid in our home in October and only one out of 4 tested positive on LFTs throughout. Only knew because we had positive PCRs.

BorgQueen · 05/04/2022 11:31

I’ve been ill on and off since Xmas, awful bronchitis - my cough lasted 6 weeks and now I have chronic catarrh from a cold a couple of weeks ago, I’m having my ears suctioned tomorrow as I’m pretty much deaf in my left ear due to impacted wax, I sat in the walk in centre for 5 hours on Sunday convinced I had an ear infection, awful pain and dizziness, but no, just wax according to the nurse, I do wonder how she could say my eardrum looked fine if I have so much wax though? I currently feel seasick with it, I’m using a netipot and ear drops but feel yuck.

Lovemyheathershimmer · 05/04/2022 11:37

I didn’t test positive on my lft till day 6. Same with my partner, he was day 5.

BigRedDuck · 05/04/2022 11:37

Yes!!! Me, DS my uncle and my grandma all had some sort of wierd lurgy last week. Coughing, exhaustion yet every single LFT was negative!

Lovemyheathershimmer · 05/04/2022 11:39

But then again, colds and flu are still a thing. My partner had a negative pcr test the other day. He was floored with the cold. He was convinced he had it again

Jay3004 · 05/04/2022 11:52

I’m on day 5 of covid and only just tested positive on a LFT today but already tested positive on a PCR (I live in Scotland so we still need to test and isolate).

ChildDLA · 05/04/2022 11:56

I was poorly for 5 days before getting a positive covid test, I've only just now tested negative after 2 weeks. Still full of catarrh, dizziness, can't smell or taste anything, also exhausted all the time. Hope it shifts soon, going on holiday next week for Easter.

TonyBlairsLover · 05/04/2022 11:57

Since last Tuesday I’ve had

Runny nose and sneezing
Awful cough
Headache
Aches
Feeling hot
No energy

I’ve also had in the last two days very painful cramps and feeling nauseous.

I’ve done 4 LFTs all negative!

romdowa · 05/04/2022 12:00

There's a stomach bug going around my area. I'm currently in the horrors with it.

TonyBlairsLover · 05/04/2022 12:03

@romdowa please say you’re not in the north west?

OP posts:
RuthW · 05/04/2022 12:07

Yes. Another three weeker here plus my dd

Phascolarctos · 05/04/2022 12:07

I still don't understand how people do not realise at this stage that testing with LFTs when you have symptoms is not reccommended; you need to book and take a PCR test.

There's a few bugs going around as everyone has weakened immune systems due to the isolation; it's a bit like sending all the kids into nursery / creche for the first time.

No I'm in Ireland so you are safe 🤣🤣

ifonly4 · 05/04/2022 12:09

When did you last do a LFT? I left sick and had a headache 2.5 days before I tested positive, and felt a tiny bit iffy for about 24 hours before that (more tickly throat for a new hours, then a bit hot for another hour).

ImFree2doasiwant · 05/04/2022 12:11

I had this for a good couple if weeks. Started to feel a bit better. Then woke up with a sore throat and banging head - covid. Still feel crap 2 weeks later. 5 weeks so far of feeling awful

TonyBlairsLover · 05/04/2022 12:11

@romdowa phew Smile It’s my biggest phobia

TonyBlairsLover · 05/04/2022 12:11

@ifonly4 I did it on Sunday

@Phascolarctos

In Ireland, you can only book a PCR test if you're in a specific group such as a health worker, otherwise, we'll completely reliant on LFT's and we have to buy them ourselves too.

Where do we get these PCR tests now out of interest?
