Are you able to get fuel?

Last night I had to go to 6 petrol stations to get diesel. Petrol seemed fine.

Is this National or just in my area? Are we going to have £30 limits again soon?

Apparently there are people at the docks blocking the tankers but I watch the news regularly and haven't seen anything.

Also paid 186.9 so my £20 will only get so far. Luckily I'm a hybrid worker this time round but I'm driving to Cornwall soon (if I can get the fuel Wink)

Having problems in the west mids - had to go to 6 different fuel stations on Tuesday before I found one with diesel - some had petrol only and some had no fuel at all.

M5 services had no HGV fuel either.

Also, seems to not be going as far - I had 350 mile range on Tuesday, did usual 100 mile round trip commute yesterday which normally takes about 50 miles off the range and two bars on the fuel display but I now only have 200 mile range and have used a quarter of a tank. Tyres inflated fine and it’s just had major service and MOT end of March so can’t think there’s anything wrong with the car…just shit fuel Hmm

SophieSoSo · 07/04/2022 22:07

No diesel near me in Nottingham either.

ASaucerfulOfSecrets · 07/04/2022 22:26

No diesel anywhere near me this week in the big garages (midlands). Fortunately there is a small, off the beaten track, family owned one pump type place in the village up the road which few people seem to know about and although he’s about 3p more expensive he always has fuel.

Burnshersmurfs · 07/04/2022 22:32

Largest petrol station was closed round our way today, and others had no diesel (South Coast). Haven’t heard a peep in the media.

ihearttc · 08/04/2022 10:37

@bloodywhitecat

The situation here is ridiculous. I managed to get some on the A140 at Brockford the other night if that helps at all. There was no diesel in Norwich at all on Sunday after driving round virtually every petrol station.

LaNozzeDiFigaro · 08/04/2022 18:05

Does Cornwall have some still? I have enough to get there! Don't want to panic buy. There are now fuel groups on Facebook for local areas. There is also the just stop oil Facebook page congratulating themselves on what they've done.

"HAPPENING NOW

At 7:30am, 70 people carrying Just Stop Oil banners marched along a key tanker route towards the Navigator terminal, at London Road, Thurrock.

They were met by police and forced to sit in the road, effectively halting tanker movements to and from the terminal.

Some have glued themselves to the road and say they intend to stay for as long as possible.

It is expected that this morning’s actions will further impact on fuel availability at petrol pumps across England.

So far during the 8 days of nonviolent disruptive action there have been over 400 arrests, with at least 70 more expected today.

Just Stop Oil will continue to block oil terminals until the government makes a statement that it will end new oil and gas projects in the UK.

Zoom calls happening daily, 7pm. Get involved, we need everyone. Don’t be a bystander. #juststopoil"

Depends where! Penzance Sainsbury's had some pumps open on Sunday but my local supermarket only has unleaded. Put it this way, I'm not using my car unless it's absolutely essential!

LaNozzeDiFigaro · 08/04/2022 18:49

Oh no! It's looe we are going. I don't know what to do. It's a bloody nightmare. I know of people that are unable to get to work. I get their point, we need to think of the planet but how about they do it a better way?

OP posts:
dubyalass · 08/04/2022 19:00

Can't help with Looe unfortunately as it's up the other end from me, but it does have a train station - can you get the train?

Many people down here commute by car because public transport is crap. I can foresee clashes with holidaymakers at the pumps over the Easter holidays if the blockades haven't ended by then.

QuebecBagnet · 08/04/2022 19:45

Saw an article covering this in the daily Mail online so expect more panic buying on top of actual shortages.

SquirmOfEels · 08/04/2022 19:56

Earlier thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4522301-Is-there-a-news-blackout-on-fuel-shortages

Petrol stations round here all open normally and no queuing

Interruption to supply because of protests, not shortages

Extinction Rebellion planning more protests between 9-17 April

LottaHogs · 08/04/2022 20:00

I’m in Suffolk, near Needham Market. Local fb pages are saying that Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket and Needham Market areas are out of diesel and petrol.

LaNozzeDiFigaro · 08/04/2022 20:07

@SquirmOfEels I shall have you know this is the earlier thread 😂

@dubyalass unfortunately not. We have a giant dog and I don't think our location is anywhere near the station. It will be fine. I'll just have to plan... famous last words. 😬

Diesel an issue for Sainsbury's in Swansea this afternoon.

Lottie4 · 08/04/2022 20:15

Our local petrol station didn't have cones on Sunday (for once) and DH managed to get unleaded on Wednesday, so lucky here. Having said that, I'm on another thread and we've had shortages of cooking oil, flour, eggs, tomatoes and canned tomatoes which others haven't.

dubyalass · 08/04/2022 20:27

@LaNozzeDiFigaro good luck! Hope you have a great stay and don’t have to worry about fuel!

2KidsNoTime · 08/04/2022 20:30

Diesel is pretty non existent where I am in East Anglia and has been for past couple of weeks. Petrol is easier to come by but I still had to go to 2 petrol stations before finally finding unleaded at the 3rd to fill up my car. Prices are insane, but that's another matter....

FloBot7 · 08/04/2022 20:30

Shortage of diesel in both Bedford and Milton Keynes. The independent station in a village between the two (where I work) had a full supply of diesel. Think it's worse in populated areas.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/04/2022 20:34

The supply in and around Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan seems ok.

Kezzie200 · 08/04/2022 20:41

I'm in Cornwall and there was both petrol and diesel this morning, and I was able to fill up at 159 ish (petrol) and no queue. My other cars half empty but has 200 miles in it so should be OK for a while.

pointythings · 09/04/2022 07:03

Managed to get diesel locally (East Anglia) at stupid o'clock this morning so am en route. Now let's hope there's some at the other end to get us home again .

GeneLovesJezebel · 09/04/2022 07:04

Fine here, up North.

sanityisamyth · 09/04/2022 07:09

The one fuel station in Cardiff I went to for petrol didn't have any diesel.

Wtfidiot · 09/04/2022 07:19

Gridlock at 3 petrol stations near me last 2 evenings and Tesco station closed and empty

lochmaree · 09/04/2022 07:46

No diesel at supermarkets round here (Somerset) and yesterday sainsburys only had super unleaded. filled up at an Esso garage at 179.9 for diesel.
