Tummy Tuck on Tuesday!

Hi everyone,

I'm booked in for a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and a breast lift with implants on Tuesday 😱

I'm excited but also a bit scared. I've got to go for a PCR tomorrow and providing it's negative then it will go ahead as planned. Currently I'm more worried about the pcr being negative as I've had this booked since September last year and I'm SO ready for it, got everything planned and sorted, so for it to be cancelled would just be devastating. Thinking positive though.

Just wondered if anyone who has been through similar has any advice/info on post op care, or things they wish they'd have known while recovering Smile

Wow! You look incredibly glamorous!! I am hoping just to look less, well old, and soggy, not just saggy.🤣

smurfmonkey · 13/04/2022 08:26

Wow, your boobs look great, says the complete stranger on the internet Grin

I'll be honest, I would kill for your pre-op stomach, it looked fine to me, but I know it's all about how you feel yourself. I hope your recovery goes well Smile

Thank you Smile yes, I had a lot of similar comments regarding my pre op tummy in real life.

I was a wash board before I had kids, and I still (before surgery) went to the gym 6 times a week, ran a marathon, trained at a pro boxing gym, I was very active and fit and yet I couldn't get rid of that blob and I HATED it.

I'd look great on my top half at the waist because it was so trim and slim, boobs I could sling in some sort of bra to keep them looking half decent, but the belly, was always just there and it did make me very self conscious.

Like you say, it's how you feel in yourself isn't it and for me, it just ruined my body. I think if I could have changed it physically then I would have taken that route instead but surgeon said there was just no way because of the muscles being so far apart. So, here we are Grin

I had exactly the same procedure (all at the same time like you). Was the best thing I ever did!
Just rest up and make sure you have someone to help you. Equally, try and move a little bit every day. I was back to work and driving in about 12 days.
Take some arnica for the bruising! I also had a lot of water retention so took some water tablets which helped.
Lots of frozen veg for your chest!
A long phone charging lead.
Something long to scratch your back if you need it so you're not bending awkwardly.
A pregnancy pillow was a must have.
Good luck!

Hahah thank you though! Comments still very much appreciated Grin by a water tablet do you mean a diuretic?

Looks great OP

Had a nice shower this morning. Starting to feel quite itchy and irritated by the constant binder and bra 😩 took a progress pic for you all. I haven't washed any of the incisions at all, just let water fall over them. I'm a bit too squeamish at the minute and some still have glue on.

I am still very swollen too Confused but happy so far with progress!

You look great! And your choice of cover up emoji made me giggle xD

yellowwhiteblack · 14/04/2022 13:31

Hahaha thank you! Also forgot to add that I'm not on any painkillers at all now. I had one dose of paracetamol yesterday but didn't really need any more and not needed any today either. Definitely starting to feel more human and back to old self. Just a bit sore when I do certain things but definitely much easier to do day-to-day tasks now Smile

I have booked a boob lift and tummy tuck in June hoping it goes through this time Iv had some obstacles that stopped me in the past to get this op done but hoping my June op would actually go through this time. Watching this thread to get a heads up on the whole thing - to the OP you look fab !!

yellowwhiteblack · 15/04/2022 20:19

I am very itchy Confused it's starting to drive me a bit insaaaaane. Seems worse first thing in a morning and then at night. I'm doing well at keeping all the garments on but it is a bit like torture...

Would antihistamines help?

ScarlettDarling · 15/04/2022 20:37

Wow op you look amazing but then you also looked great pre surgery! Looking at that scar it’s clear it was a huge surgery and I’m stunned that you thought you needed it. It’s clear that it was important to you though and I’ll bet you’re thrilled with the results.

yellowwhiteblack · 15/04/2022 20:41

I've been trying antihistamines and they do take the edge off a bit for about 30-60 minutes. I think keeping busy helps too as it takes my mind off it a bit Smile

Wowzers lady you look amazing. Do you mind sharing who you went with? I'm currently on the research stage. Desperate for a tt mr with lipo
yellowwhiteblack · 18/04/2022 19:13

Hi @superplumb - not at all. I'm based in the East Midlands and went with Stephen McCulley (he has a website) - based in Nottingham, he's a private surgeon, works out of three (I think) different hospitals in the area Smile

Hi @yellowwhiteblack thanks for posting about your experience. I've been thinking about this since my last baby 5 years ago. I finally feel ready now my youngest can climb into her own car seat! I have a consultation on 18/05 and I'm pencilled in for a date at the end of June. My big concerns are recovery, and post surgery complications. Reading your posts has reassured me that it will be difficult but doable. How did you decide on your surgeon?

LolaMontezz · 06/05/2022 09:54

Hi @KellyMarieTunstall2 - OP here, I name changed but I can't change it back with the current new site weirdness!

General update -
I'm just over 4 weeks out now and pretty much back to normal with regards to motion and being able to walk about etc.
I'm no longer wearing my binder (essentially a corset) - that was able to removed at the 4 week mark. I am swollen and I will be for a while yet, so results from this surgery are not instant, it's a long road.
I'm on a fair few Facebook groups etc for tummy tucks and the general consensus is that you can still swell for a year after the op and beyond! Which is scary but I'm just trying to "trust the process". I already look better than I did pre-op so things should just keep getting better. I look a bit "blocky" because of the swelling but I don't have the pouch at the bottom of my belly, which was the bit I really hated. So although I'm not really trim as yet, I am flat from under boobs to pubes so that's encouraging.

I'm also allowed to take my support bra off at night and oh my god, it's wonderful. I have always slept naked so it was really tough for me wearing the binder and bra practically 24/7, so I feel like I'm getting back towards being my old self which has helped my mental health. Those first couple of weeks are a slog and I did wonder if I had made the right decision. Now I'm starting to be able to wear the clothes I want to, it's feeling like I made the right choice.

To answer your question re surgeon, I just researched online. I came across my surgeon pretty much instantly, he was one of the first that came up, I looked at his work, reviews etc and was impressed by what I saw so then looked into booking a consultation etc. To be completely honest, I didn't do loads of research. Mr McCulley looked good and I was happy with the consult and his advice etc so I just booked in with him. There is a charge for the consultations too, which can get quite costly (mine was £150), so I guess if you're unsure, do as much research as possible and narrow your selections down, then maybe go and see the ones you think you like the best Smile I hope it goes well for you!
