Tummy Tuck on Tuesday!

Hi everyone,

I'm booked in for a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and a breast lift with implants on Tuesday 😱

I'm excited but also a bit scared. I've got to go for a PCR tomorrow and providing it's negative then it will go ahead as planned. Currently I'm more worried about the pcr being negative as I've had this booked since September last year and I'm SO ready for it, got everything planned and sorted, so for it to be cancelled would just be devastating. Thinking positive though.

Just wondered if anyone who has been through similar has any advice/info on post op care, or things they wish they'd have known while recovering Smile

Best thing I've ever done. Drink lots and lots of water to avoid constipation. Good luck!

I read it as Tommy Tuck and thought it was rhyming slang for "fuck". BlushGrin

yellowwhiteblack driving on day 13 was ok for me, I drive myself to the cinema for a change of scene.
Week one was a right off, I could do a tiny bit in the house, preferred to potter around than sit so basically watched one episode of a box set then pottered around. Week 2 I could do a bit more, things got a quite a bit better after day 6. By three weeks I was pretty much doing everything such as driving, walking (I had some uni open days that involved a lot of walking) stuff in the house etc.

yellowwhiteblack · 02/04/2022 09:59

There will be none of that on Tuesday @Awwlookatmybabyspider I can assure you! Grin

Thanks @NeedleNoodle3 - that's good to hear Smile

good luck for tuesday,
as others have asked, how much and where did you all go ?

yellowwhiteblack · 02/04/2022 10:31

I'm going to The Woodthorpe private hospital (Nottingham) under Stephen McCulley. For everything it's come to £13,335 that's with pre and post op care and any follow ups included etc

Another question -

Were there any essentials for hospital? Either something you couldn't have lived without or things you wished you had taken with you?

yellowwhiteblack · 04/04/2022 17:15

Tomorrow is the day! Feeling excited and nervous. Got to be at the hospital for 7:30am, they think I'm first on the list which I prefer, no hanging around Grin

All the best for tomorrow, you don’t need much for the hospital, nighty, dressing gown, slippers and your toiletries. Lip salve and hand cream are worth packing.

tootiredtobother · 04/04/2022 17:26

ooo so less if i just have tummy tuck..
very best wishes for tomorrow and a speedy recovery

yellowwhiteblack · 04/04/2022 17:35

Yes @tootiredtobother I think 8-9K or there abouts.

Thank you both! Lots of butterflies in my tummy currently GrinGrin

I'm out! Surgery went well, was around 4 hours in total. Feeling tired and a bit sore, had some oral morphine which is kicking in. Feeling generally ok Smile

Glad it went well

yellowwhiteblack · 06/04/2022 03:19

Thank you babyspider 🕷☺️ managed 3 hours solid sleep but feeling wide awake again currently. Trying to keep on top of pain meds etc. been up and down for what seems like 50 times to go to the loo for a wee. It's uncomfortable but bearable.

The surgeon came to see me yesterday post op. He said I had a huge hernia in my belly button and my abdominal muscles were very separated (didn't even realise this!) but the surgery went better than he anticipated and said I should see a dramatic difference Smile I'm excited to see the finished result!

Fingers crossed for a smooth recovery. Let us know how you get on.

CheesePlantMurderer · 06/04/2022 05:15

I had abdominoplasty and thigh lift several years ago. I wore a compression suit from knees to boobs for 6 weeks and think that was the hardest part 😆 seriously just do exactly as they advise and you'll be fine. I didn't sleep downstairs and I drove after 3 weeks. Results were and remain amazing, finished off my huge weight loss journey perfectly. All the best to you Thanks

Did you not meet with the surgeon prior to the op? The first thing they should have done mis check for ab separation (diastasis recti is its official name). Very easy to check for yourself and can definitely be closed at home with specific exercises and avoidance of certain exercises which make it worse, cause hernias etc. Just for those that have the same issue but can’t afford or don’t want surgery - it’s worth looking in to. It causes a protruding tummy etc. Anyway good luck with your recovery, op!
yellowwhiteblack · 06/04/2022 07:29

Yes I met him twice, however it was almost a year ago now so it is quite possible that I forgot this info! I'm a bit of a goldfish and I wanted the tuck anyway for lower belly.
I do remember him saying that he would tighten the muscles, I think the belly button hernia was a bit of an incidental finding, he told me yesterday morning pre op about that and said he would fix whilst there.

Following with interest as I have mine booked for October, with a breast lift. They will inject lipo fat into my boobs too, as well as moving the nipples. I am taking 2 weeks off work and hoping for the best. So OP I am watching your recovery very closely!

Sux2buthen · 06/04/2022 08:08

@yellowwhiteblack

Really starting to feel excited now! Not only for the change but also the hospital stay as I'm hoping it will be lovely and quiet for a few days before return home to the children Grin
Funny you say that I had to go in for a very minor surgery and I was so excited for the nap GrinGrin
yellowwhiteblack · 06/04/2022 09:44

The naps have been great! Hahaha

So far I'm finding it all very bearable, providing I have regular pain meds. I'm mobilising more today and I'm managing to do that without help now.

My surgeon saw me this morning and he said he would like me to just slowly potter about for the first week, the gradually build up my pottering for the second. I am walking hunched over at the moment as the abdo muscles are obviously very sore and they don't want to be stretching just yet.

On the whole I'm feeling ok though.

Following because I would do love to do this, maybe one day!

yellowwhiteblack · 06/04/2022 10:42

Thank you Smile I'll put before and after pics on when I can! I don't look too great currently, just look mummified hahah
