chanceux · 01/04/2022 11:50

Just wondering what people pay around the country for electric, now that the prices have increased.

I now pay 31.06p per unit plus 47.28p standing charge per day.

My supplier is Eon Next, I was transferred to them last year when Symbio went bust.

I am in Sussex.

I am British Gas prepayment and now pay 42.88p standing charge and 28.99p per unit.
I'm in Cambridgeshire

Lottie4 · 01/04/2022 12:04

Bulb 48.13p standing charge - 27.86p per unit. South West. Bulb are in administration with government propping them up, but I can't see us being moved to elsewhere any time soon.

chanceux · 01/04/2022 12:14

I had a smart meter fitted a couple of months ago. It's really taught me the running costs of appliances.

Im with outfox the market, standing charge 18.9p and 22.16 kwh. Gas is also 18.9p a day and 4.2p.

Bytrgrewd · 01/04/2022 12:23

Per kWh 27.67p
Standing charge per day 54.96p

Bytrgrewd · 01/04/2022 12:24

Sse prepayment metre

chanceux · 01/04/2022 12:24

That's cheap @fruitbrewhaha is that a fixed deal or variable?

I’m now on 28.99p standing charge per day and 28p per unit. I’m with utility warehouse and in Lancashire.

YellowHpok · 01/04/2022 12:31

Elec –
Standing charge – 43.28 pence
Unit rate – 24.84 pence/kWh

Gas –
Standing charge – 31.31 pence
Unit rate – 6.75 pence/kWh

This is fixed with Green Energy UK on a 100% renewables deal, which we wenth about 6 months ago after Bulb went bust. Bulb were a nightmare and very expensive

chanceux · 01/04/2022 12:33

There is no gas supply where I live. I think my electricity would be slightly cheaper on the unit price if i had gas as well.

I fixed it in December for 12 months
Tynesider007 · 01/04/2022 13:11

Electric 20.207p to 27.090p per kWh standing charge per day 26.46p to 48.91p.

Gas 3.954p to 7.225p per kWh standing charge per day 26.11p to 27.22p. Shell energy for both.
This includes VAT.

I am borderline obsessed with fuel prices at the moment.
Having said that, I have looked at making our own energy and those new prices are still dirt cheap.
I do miss our old wood burner and we have an unlimited supply of free wood if we wished.

chanceux · 01/04/2022 13:23

@Tynesider007 I'm obsessed with energy prices too.

I've had a wood burner for years as have access to free wood. It's great as it also has a boiler to give us hot water. I really miss it during the summer months. It's on at the moment as we're had snow.

I've got a smart meter which helps but I've stopped using the microwave and kettle as it's too expensive. I use has to cook and heat water which isn't as much.

Tynesider007 · 01/04/2022 13:33

Ours did too, it also ran the central heating. Our new house would be difficult to adapt. I loved it, even cleaning it and starting a fire every morning.

GiantKitten · 01/04/2022 13:38

bulb in Lancs
(I missed a 2-year fix with Octopus at pre-October rates by a few hours. That’s going to cost us at least £70pm now, and more if next winter is a cold one Sad)

What is your new electricity unit price?
Orangesox · 01/04/2022 13:45

Electric = 21.842p per kWh, 18p standing charge.
Gas = 5.592 per kWh, 18p standing charge

It’s about 60% higher than we had been paying which was fixed in till January, but this came up as a loyalty fix with our supplier in December and I snapped their hands off with what was on the horizon for April.

Orangesox · 01/04/2022 13:46

Forgot to say, I’m in Yorkshire

PeskyRooks · 01/04/2022 13:47

Standing charge 48.88p
Unit price 28.22p
Scottish power pre payment meter. Haven't got gas.

Tynesider007 · 01/04/2022 14:17

Even at the new prices it's less than 4p to boil a half full electric kettle.

I am tight as a ducks arse but willing to stretch to that.

Isseywith3witchycats · 01/04/2022 16:07

we pay by DD and have been told our gas and electric will go up by £750 a year from June

makingmiracles · 01/04/2022 16:16

Standing charge 57.7p pd
Unit charge 29.2p kWh

SSE (sw) Sad

makingmiracles · 01/04/2022 16:17

Mines going up £499 projected, so dual fuel combined increase for yr = £1k

MidnightMeltdown · 02/04/2022 23:43

I'm with eon

Currently paying:

Electricity 17.12 per unit, standing charge 12.60

Gas 3.11 per unit, standing charge 12.60 per day

However, I'm on a fix which finishes at the end of April. From May I will have a new fix which will be:

Electricity 32.53 per unit, standing charge 48.53

Gas 8.53 per unit, standing charge 27.22 per day

New fix is slightly higher than the price cap (I think) but I figured it would be worth fixing as I don't use much between May and October, and the fixed price deal will prevent my bills rising again in the autumn when the price cap goes up again.

SlipperySlope99 · 03/04/2022 08:59

Our fixed deal with eon next ran out 30th March, price increased a lot but am now fixed at 27.7p per kw and 39.68p standard rip off charge- Liverpool
Gas is 6.54p per kw and 42.31p standard rip off
