'Level 1,2,3 & 4 obs'
'Where's the ward lighter?'
The magic numbers-'5&2'
'Sectioned or informal?'
'They have been secluded'
'Absconsion risk'
And many more!

The world of mental health nursing is full of 'em.

What words or phrases do you use at work which no-one understands.

'Scripted AND using? Are CGL aware?'

AnnaBegins · 30/03/2022 20:12

"We couldn't pass SBR3 because the RFQ response hadn't been PACN'd"

"We were late to PEC and FEC as we didn't do the DFMEA"

The company I work for has an acronym for everything. Newbies sometimes ask what they stand for, which is futile as that was forgotten many moons ago.

@crackofdoom it depends! For a head bump or something that looks like it'll bruise I use a proper one out of the fridge. I tend to use the wet paper towel for the barely visible grazes and random finger aches. So actual injury = proper cold compress, child is fine and fussing = paper towel Grin

waltzingparrot · 30/03/2022 20:19

@NoEffingWay

According to DS and his friends, a wet paper towel is the only thing he and his friends are given for all ailments and illnesses Grin
I remember the first time DS came out of school holding a wet paper towel to his headache and me thinking 'WTF does the teacher think that's going to do?'

It took a few more to realise it was a magic towel.

@ILoveMyMonkey

I’ve recorded that on CPOMs, informed SLT and SENDCO and will flag it up at the PPAD. Have you got the AM7 data for the PPG and EAL? We’ve got an ECT starting. Have you adapted that for the LA, MA and HA and make sure you do the PI’s with those ones.

So many 😂 it’s like a foreign language sometimes.

Ha ha - I started a job taking minutes at school governor meetings some years ago. It is exactly like that! Definitely a steep learning curve......Grin

Will they need an RTS and FSTF, a p.stool, WWF, 4WW? Who has LPA for them?

rainydogday NEVER be the one to say the Q word. Also the full moon effect?! Previous job. Previous life. Still get a bit of a warm and fuzzy throwback feeling watching LOD.

AnnaBegins · 30/03/2022 20:38

@Greygreygrey specifically automotive here

NoEffingWay · 30/03/2022 20:38

@LazyDoll we never, ever say the Q word. Silence descends on anyone that utters it in the nursing office.
