It's Sunday. I'm bored! Do you have any celebrity friends as in close enough to have them on Watsapp etc. Come on give us a clue, maybe some MNers will even be brave enough to tell us names!

I was very close with a girl in college who is now a social media influencer.

She was a genuinely lovely person with a heart of gold when I knew her, nothing about her now is genuine. She has a fake accent, makes up things about her past/childhood/family (even what the family dog was called and how it died etc). She pops up on my social media/internet from time to time and I always find it so surreal. It has really made me look at celebrities differently.

Peter Gabriel is a friend (via his wife), DH is/was also a musician, he is friends with PG.

Midge Ure friendly, have done each other favours over time.

Used to be friends with Paula Yates, met Michael Hutchence via her and saints forgive me, but he wasn't just good looking, he was magnetic.

Me and DH were friends with Bob Geldof, I was team Paula when they split, DH stayed friends with Bob. Everything you think you know about BG & PY split? It was like that, but worse. DH & BG still occasionally stay in touch.

Tony Wilson was unforgettable and unintentionally hilarious.

My biggest claim to fame is that I was back stage during Nirvana's set at Reading in 1992.

My biggest celebrity crush is probably Nick Cave, I worked with him a few times. He's masculine/not afraid to show his feelings. Genuinely a kind man.

I worked in the entertainment industry for years, so I knew loads who were famous in the 80s & 90s. DH was a session musician, he played on some big albums.

We moved out of London for good in the late 90s to raise our family.

What was Paula like? Seems she attracted a lot of desirable men - wasn't Brad Pitt obsessed with her?

How exciting, I went to see them at the Marquee Club in Soho when I was 19, still remember and love Kayleigh- loving on the floor in Belsize Park was my favourite line.

I've met quite a lot of celebrities through work, some nicer than you imagine and some not so nice. George Clooney was very much 'don't you know who I am?'

I do know Joanna Scanlon's younger brother but never met her.

One of my friends met the Queen whilst working when Prince Philip was ill, friend was rather busy sorting out the Prince and said to the Queen over her shoulder 'Do you mind moving out of the way?' When she realised who she'd asked to move she said she didn't stop blushing for a week. The Queen dutifully moved without blinking an eyelid and didn't complain at all. In fact they said she was lovely although obviously worried about her husband.

How bizarre.. I went to school with a semi-influencer, she was always really nice and well liked at school, she was pretty, popular AND nice (how annoying), she gained a bit of weight since leaving school and now does 'Mid sized influencing' and she frequently talks about how she used to have an undiagnosed eating disorder and how she was bullied at school and posts stuff like 'this is revenge to the people who bullied me at school' .. no one else from school has any recollection of her having been bullied :S

I'll be honest, I don't really know what he looks like; only heard him a bit on the radio and I see his tweets etc sometimes.

My son is friends with RJP, who came to my house for a coffee once. He is lovely!

It was either Keith Flint, or Liam Howlett. My dad retired from his job about five years ago, I can’t remember which one of them had a brother that my dad worked with.

I’m sure that most people on here wouldn’t ever of heard about him, but I also used to go to school with an ex boxers son and knew the family a little bit.
His name was Jimmy Cable, a middle weight boxer from the late 70s and 80s. Very working class guy, I’m not sure he made that much money though as he didn’t live in a fancy house or anything.

Also randomly, I used to drive buses for a short while in south London. The actor who played George from George and Mildred ( 1970s British comedy) was a regular passenger on a particular route and always pleasant enough and said hello.

I'm always amazed, from numerous examples on numerous threads, and not just on this site, how much people actually know about celebrities who they don't know from Adam. And pass judgement on them based on press coverage.

The only people where I take a slight interest in their lives is people I am a big fan of - and even then I mainly focus on their music, acting whatever and am not that interested in their personal lives. I find it all deeply odd when I say I like so and so's new film or album or performance in a TV programme and they reply "But didn't you know he left his wife and had an affair twenty years ago. What a shit!" I was thinking about that Stanley Tucci thread recently. Or the Will Smith thread saying "that family is so fucked up." Really? Will Smith has been famous since I was in my early teens but I actually wouldn't have a clue about his life.

I went to karate classes with Lewis Collins in the 70's (from the professionals). He was the kind of guy who would let the door slam in your face if you were behind him - lovely.
I also know a famous politician quite well - absolute knob end I had better not name him or I'll be in trouble.

I had to look him up, never heard of him but he has the loveliest face, I'll listen to some of his programmes now.

I did my legal training with Judge Rinder. We have fairly regular WhatsApp chats and I went to his wedding. He is, and always has been, exactly like he is on the telly. I am very fond of him (and his family, who are lovely).
